Mount Saint Vincent University's conference services has a wonderful management. You get flexible shifts based on your availability. The   workplace is a friendly yet professional environment.The most enjoyable part of the job is the relief of getting off work at the end of the day as it can be exhausting. Working over I mostly learnt to work in a team, which I love and also working individually. It gives a good pay depending on the number of shifts you take up. The hardest part of the job is the numerous rooms needed to be cleaned at the end of the day. The coworkers are amiable. We give directions and help to the customers where needed. A typical day at work is getting the moving cart with the cleaning ad stocking it with cleaning supplies, getting the list of of rooms to be cleaned from the front desk, going to the rooms one after the other to remove all dirty linens, and replacing them with clean and new linens, sweeping and mopping the living rooms and washrooms, throwing out the Gabbage, cleaning all mirrors, windows, and dressers, .

What is the best part of working at the company?
The front desk agent position for conference services at MSVU has been the best job I have had thus far. Management is great and the opportunity to learn and grow is always there. I have been treated great and was given so many different opportunities within the business department due to the relationships I have built with management. From working the front desk in the summers in residence, to helping from time to time at the bookstore, this job was amazing and I will forever be grateful for the opportunities I was given!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The only time it got stressful was when bigger groups checked into the summer residences. Even then, the job was almost completely stress free. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is really relaxed. Gives opportunities to grow and improve your skills. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day in the summer months would consist of managing housekeepers in the residences, checking in guests and booking reservations.

What is the best part of working at the company?
management and co workers are very pleasant to work with and for.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
i’m the position of a groundskeeper you don’t really have a time constraint. unless there’s an event coming up like convocations for NSCC. but other then that it’s a very healthy and pleasant work environment 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
a very open and honest management style, all of your co workers are very nice, everyone has their tasks at hand to do. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
get there in the morning, get all of my stuff ready and settled in in my shop. go out on the 4x4 and pick up garbage first thing in the morning, then work from top-down on the property when mowing and caring for the lawns.

The hours are great, no need to work overtime, sometimes you will but not pressure from management to do it. Summer hours are till 3:30 which encourages work-life balance. However, you will be working on “other tasks” more often than expected. Which would take most of your time, specially during the beginning of each academic term. Leaving your regular responsibilities behind and then would be stressed trying to report on time. Salary is below average,    Which cause frequent staff rotation and poor work conditions. Micromanagement is unpleasant. No work in any holidays, and 20 vacation days, plus the university close each December 23 till January 2nd. 

This university is small and there are good opportunities to grow as teacher. But while you are staff, like part-time or not belonging to a full and permanent job, they don't care about you. Staff has no benefits at all and the contract are short and very temporal. The payment is very bad. 
They have really bad people at the immigration office. Almost like corrupt, they will drain your money if you need any paperwork from the IRCC. Yes, you have to pay; they don't help you even if they work for the university. 

This job allows one to really use past knowledge, as well as newer knowledge in order to help other students understand course material. Although I worked by myself, it allowed me time to really connect with other students and give them the attention they needed. The hardest part of the job is finding new ways to re-work the course material to accomodate each individual student; however, that also happens to be the best part of the job as well!

Supportive mentors. Professors are always there to answer any questions

Nothing specific. Work from home at your own pace 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly and supportive. Very less stress. Overall a fun experience 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It’s work from home. So you don’t have to go to university. Listening to music and work

Overall I enjoyed my time at the University especially while working for the Senate and the Women's Studies department. While in financial services the was no adherence by management to the University policies on overtime and flex time. I had excellent exposure to the inner management and administration of an Educational Institution. Working with the students was most enjoyable.

For the most part the work here is pretty straightforward, although usually reactive. Working class people are nice. Proactive ideas are not paid attention to unless they are brought forward by someone near the top of the food chain. 

Management is terrible. We go in one direction for awhile then burn it down and go another way. Not nearly as prosocial as we pretend to be.

Worked for three years for the mount and found it to be quite enjoyable. Great group of staff as well as regular customers who made it enjoyable bartending and managing both the pub and store. Hardest part of the job was when it got slow but most enjoyable was seeing when people were out enjoying themselves and the events you've planned.
