MSCP Heat Management Solutions

My time in MSCP was one of the lowest moments in my career. This is an extremely toxic and cruel work environment. 

A typical day at work is filled with confusion. Get ready to watch your back and navigate toxic cliques, that behave like high school girls.

What I learned working here are survival strategies for working in a toxic environment.

Management here is the lowest you can get, with anger issues, zero trust, enabling a toxic work environment. 

The hardest part of the job is accepting the offer as you next mission will be trying to get out as fast as possible.

The most enjoyable part of the job is that there was lots to learn. It’s more of a training school than a company.

My advise to the organization: 

1. Learn to genuinely treat people better, it’s not by looking good on social media and creating an illusive perception of your reality, winning Ruby award won’t get you far without a genuine intention to care and treat people right.

Balance your workload appropriately. Less is not always better. It looks good in your accounting because of the cost savings, but has the hidden cost of morale and culture. . A highly stressful disorganized environment will encourage toxic behaviours. 



Management talks the talk but do not follow what they say.   In the shop area everyone is supposed to wear CSA footwear, but the management likes to walk around wearing deck shoes and then be working while on the floor without the appropriate safety footwear.  Then when you bring it up to the Safety department, they just turn a blind eye on the issue.  Then they have managers that have no clue what is going on as they are managing a trade that they have no knowledge about.  Then getting materials for work in the shop is like waiting for Christmas to come again as simple items that can be locally sourced take 4 to 6 weeks to even be ordered as the orders have to be approved by management then it sits on the person that does the ordering until the shop personnel are standing around waiting on the much-needed materials.   

A typical day at work is okay and productive for the most part.

I learned a lot about the Oil and Gas Industry.

The Management on Site is not fair to people, picks favourites, and victimizes others. They call them Constraints, to them they feel they are above everyone else, forgetting that the core responsibility of a constraint is to Serve in integrity and Fairness.

The Workplace culture on Site is controlled by an Individual called the Site Manager it is his way or the highway. Even if his decisions are inappropriate or unfair, the other leaders have to stick with him for their own job security. 

The hardest part of the job is seeing your friend get laid off for foolish reasons.

The Most enjoyable part of the job is building skills knowing that the skills will be transferred to a real organization that values people, using this opportunity as a stepping stone.



What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part working at mscp was dual trade,  we used to work with electricians and insulators together, we learned other trade while working with your partner. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part was taking and uploading pictures with tablets in every steps of work. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good Overall, we used to start with toolbox meeting and finish with small meeting with the GF.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
As an insulator,  my focus was to learn about electrical trade , how to install EHT and troubleshooting.

Company has good intentions, but has employees in Site Management and Supply Chain that have personality disorders that make the company have all this bad publicity.

Company also has a poor reputation of not handling layoffs appropriately further tarnishing its reputation. People have found out they have been laid off when they arrived at the Airport after their two weeks off. Highly unprofessional.

As a learning organization they will learn and do better. Too early to give-up on them.

Early career, go for them, lots to learn, already established in your career, don’t work here, go for a properly structured and organized company, where you are guaranteed of working with high quality people in a properly defined system.

The company has a new approach of doing business using great methodologies from Deming and Goldratt. They have the mindset of continuous improvement which is greatly reflected on the quality of job they do and the positive responses they get from their client. They are also the first company who have come up with the approach of Heat Management where multi trades come together to work efficiently and effectively. They have impressive trainings as well; where they bring in employees to the Head Office training center in electrical, insulation, and rope access. Overall a revolutionary company in the Heat management industry!

A typical day at work is pretentious. Wear your fake smiles, you should be okay for the most part.

Learned a-lot about the trade. Company invested alot in organizational tools.

Site Manager is toxic, getting away with this because he keeps favourites in certain places that help him cover his tracks.

Workplace culture on Site is centred around patronizing the leadership team. Project Manager is slightly incompetent, Site Manager covers up for him, in return, he helps the Site Manager cover his tracks.

Hardest part if the job is dealing with the toxicity of the cliques.

Enjoyable part of job is making friends with some genuinely nice people.

A typical day at work is okay, the focus is on working safely.

Learnt a-lot about digital quality management systems.

The management on Site is cliquey, controlling and lacking integrity. It’s an area the organization needs to work on. The site manager “manages up” really well, so he appears as a “Saint” to Executive leadership.

The Workplace culture at their site does not align with their corporate culture, making it appear two-faced.

The hardest part of the job is navigating the cliquey leadership team.

The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing how your hard work helps the company grow.
  

The team in the office and the field are fantastic, great communication, new challenges come in every week and the support is fantastic. lots of opportunities to try new tasks and be part of different projects. They let you make mistakes, no blame just learning from it! fully paperless, everything is digital, took a while to get used to, but i couldn't go back now. freedom to create your own path and grow your career, but its not for everyone, the people that wait for management to give them a new role or task don't usually end up staying long term. the others stay and grow with he company.
