On a surface level the company seems okay but once you get in... it is absolutely awful. No respect for junior and intermediate staff. Management is absolutely horrible. No training or mentorship to help you develop. Compensation is a joke compared to industry standard. They want you to do your job for minimal money and stay there for years. They don't want you to advance in your career. They only care about their bottom line and not you as a individual dedicating years of hard work to them. Only positive is you will have job security here because everyone is always leaving. It explains why they always have so many job postings all the time lol. Everyone I've spoken to at the company is unhappy but over the years they have just learned to accept and settle in the terrible environment. Benefits are poor, 3% rrsp matching program which is nothing special as most good companies offer 6%. No maternity leave... you will have to work with the low compensation they provide, away from your newborn, in order to survive... I can go on and on about how terrible the company is and looking at all these other reviews so can everyone else lol... trust me initially you may like it because it's a new job but it will set you back in life tremendously... Everyone who has left the company is doing so much better, including myself. Avoid at all costs!

A typical day at work when working on site would be organizing my priorities, drafting and calculations of legal drawings for the Ontario Land Surveying industry and some Civil Engineering projects.  Comoradity with colleagues made each day a joy. when ever a problem, I could ask if needed help. I'd learn new skills as new technology is introduced.  Even though management wasn't always there, that gave me opportunity to think on my feet and solved whatever needed to be addressed. 
I enjoyed the extra corporate activities the company provided such as golf tournaments,  bbq etc.
The hardest thing about this job was being let go after 8 wonderful years, due to lack of work and downsizing.
Although I worked my last few years working remotely here in Alberta, I always felt a part of a large family where getting up every day was a passion in my life looking forward with new challenges and projects complete with a high degree of skill and accomplishments. 

All of my direct co-workers were great, can't say much about other divisions as I was not in the office very often.  I can't say much about pay either because I was in a co-op position, but what I can say is that I have multiple friends and old co-workers that are working there and  they pay far lower than industry standard for all levels besides management(again I'm  not sure about management compensation so I won't comment). 

The biggest issue I faced while at MTE was the management and training. First off, there was little to no training for staff that are out in the field. It is very much so a trail by fire set up they have, forcing me to ask an un-godly amount of questions to other inspectors, which luckily they were very helpful and understanding. If anything was missed during inspection or not up to standard it was sent straight to the upper management. Management was rarely even seen and when they did  show up they never provided anything useful. All together it was a rough start, but if you can get past the lack of training, 50+ hour work weeks, poor managent, and poor pay, the job is still rough at best but my co-workers were great and honestly one of the only reasons I stuck through my co-op.

The work and the environment was enjoyable.

Sometimes the projects seemed to be underbilled, margins were a bit too tight which added unnecessarily stress.

Corporate, but with mostly honest and hard working people. Good leadership generally.

Going to site to review construction, or in office completing reports and designs.

Working at MTE offers a balanced, collaborative environment. A typical day involves teamwork, problem-solving, and hands-on projects that challenge you. The management is supportive, encouraging growth and learning. The workplace culture is friendly, professional, and focused on continuous improvement. The hardest part of the job can be managing tight deadlines, but it’s also rewarding when projects are completed successfully. The most enjoyable part is working alongside talented colleagues and seeing the tangible impact of our work on the community.

The pay is horrible. Typically a day can be all over the place but generally you will have a few larger projects that will make you feel a sense of stability. Management is bad and overworked and rarely have time for questions. Pros would be you do learn lots as you are thrust into the deep end with little help from Management. So its a sink or swim approach. Good place to cut your teeth in the industry however dont spend to much time here as your wasting prime earning years. Younger group with extreme turn over rates.

Undelivered promises, bad management, expect you to work extra hours for no overtime, no job security, bad treatment to staff from management , low wages   

The company has several offices in Ontario, I worked for structural division in Toronto. The office environment is excellent with good amenities and views. It is not very fast paced environment. However, not good for career advancemnt

Management is not the best, lack of information, reviews are unfair, the manager does not care to give training, very rude when in some e-mails , not professional

MTE has given me some of the most value experiences that I have ever acquired in a workplace. The staff in all division is super friendly and welcoming.
