The job is okay. Can be stressful at times but what job isnt? The pay and benefits are good but thats the only decent thing about this place. The management in the kitchen is horrible. The supervisors they hire have no experience with any of the positions so they are always lost and argue with you 24/7. They make you cry and frustrated at least once a week. Super bad environment. We have filed dozens of complaints toward the union and nothing done about it. Plus you have to pay for your parking which is 120$/month. And if you take the metro it still is about 100$/month so if you dont want to spend that i suggest to not work here.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Would not recommend working here to anyone. Good place to learn & leave.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of communication. Favoritism,  cliques 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Depends on department but right now morale is low, not friendly as before

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Can't wait for it to be over. Just biding my time till I  retire.

Good for juinor research students. Higher-up management of Research Institute is politics driven. They are partial towards PI's with longer tenures in terms of giving more lab space. Some lab managers of PI's are arrogant, uneducated in laboratory operations, unprofessional, and cheapstakes. No sense of collaboration between PI labs. Lots of backstabbing between PI's (expected in academia). Great environment for training, but not for future growth.

The start of the day always begins with an important patient on their way to get a type of exam/operation done! Interacting with the patients and speaking with them is what makes my job so fun! he most enjoyable part of my job is speaking with the patients and trying to make them comfortable to their stay within the hospital. The hardest part of the job is seeing all these people sick, crying overhearing some of the patients problems and hoping that everything will be ok.

The MUHC is a good place to start getting experience as a Registered Nurse as it is a teaching hospital, so people will be helpful and you are well supported during orientation to the unit with a nurse educator up until you are half a year into the unit.

Helped with level 1 support for the hospital users, I learned how to assist the users with the every day problems, my co-workers were always there to help me when ever I had a question, the hardest part of the job was that it was far, the best part were my co workers they were the best

I have been enjoying working at MUHC. I started there as a CEPI and now I  am a nurse clinician. Managers are supportive in general and the hospital supports us in several different ways including financial support for further education etc

Poor work structure, unskilled administration team. Unfavorable attitudes and toxic environment. Great deal of mismanagement during pandemic. There are no  strategies in place to retain loyal staff

Helpful staff and fun environment if you like working in the medical field. It's difficult to get the hours you want, as admins jobs will often require evenings and weekends at the beginning, but all hospitals operate the same way. Really enjoyed my time there!

I learned to deal with public relations and to be very professional in fast pace environment. Management always changed so therefore needed to adapt to new managers. I enjoyed accomplishing all my tasks on a daily basis.
