Zero team building. 
Run down and beaten up equipment from lack of yard maintenance. 
Zero care for employees physical and mental well-being. 
Zero communication unless it’s to point a finger. 
Next to no chance for advancement within the company. 
Unrealistic deadlines from CP along with horrible treatment and a fantastic blame game. 
No Christmas parties, no barbecues. The occasional, cheap as possible, stale lunch a couple times a year. 
Work here if you don’t care about your body, mental health, enjoy a terrible atmosphere and lots of overtime. 
Watch out for fails!!

Place is easy going and with good people, but management is all over the place. Shop bosses are on a power trip and yell constantly over nothing. 
No raises even after almost 1 yr, zero gratitude or appreciation shown to employees. 
They essentially got people working like robots plus a pretty obvious feeling you're just a number and profit to them. Zero employee care.
Benefits arent great but not bad.
If you wanna work with them be prepared to not use your head, they dont like it when you do.

this is not the place the work pay is somewhat decent but it is not worth all the stress and responsibilities you have to take on. management berate hardworking employees while letting slackers do whatever they want. fast paced environment if you are a hard worker you are expected to work to 120% for your full 12 hour shift and pick up any slack left from people who don’t care about working hard or keeping up. CP doesn’t take care of yard conditions so you will develop back issues and employee care is non existent do not recommend working here. 

Under paid for what they expect of you. They said that you will have shift options but they don’t! Night shift 6pm-6am is the worst! Sometimes you work a full 12 hrs with no break and if you do get a break it won’t be till about 3 or 4 am. The supervisors are on a power trip and don’t expect any of your concerns or requests to be carried out! You have to do that on your own by approaching management yourself! Don’t expect management to back you up on anything, they are puppets to the employer(CP Rail)

Working at MacCosham as a Trailer Mechanic was a challenging experience. Management was not approachable, which made it difficult to bring up concerns or get support when needed. Communication was often unclear, and it felt like issues were pushed aside rather than addressed.

The work environment was very stressful, with high expectations but little guidance or recognition. Overall, it wasn’t a positive experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it for someone looking for a supportive or well-managed workplace.

12 hour days. 4 days of work, 4 days of rest.
I learned to drive, manage small things, better time management.
Crew can get really close knit once you start talking to people a bit.
Terminal Manager at my particular branch in Calgary always took the crews opinion into account even if didnt seem like it.
Supervisors and Lead-Hands were super friendly even in disciplining you.
The hardest part is how rushed you felt due to pressure from above (In our case we were contracted by CP)
The most enjoyable part was the days off if you wanted them

Management is awful. Working as a mechanic. Manager was nice for a few weeks. Then manager just started yelling at employees even though it was an accident. Management does not have any clue on whats going on to their mechanics. If we have a concern we bring it to the lead hand/ supervisor because they know better than the the manager. Manager is always in a bad mood. If you ask the manager a question or parts missing or a tool that you need. Manager will send you to the lead hands because manager has no clue of what to do

Home safety for all.
Working time is stable.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It was always busy in communication by radio.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is little dirty. But, it is acceptable. Cameras are everywhere. The workers could not hide at the working place at anytime.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
None. Except for working, it got workers are working 24hours and 365 days per year. I worked for 15 days a month.

Train shows up at 6pm….
CP: strip and reload 5 tracks by 7pm. But do it safely. But do it quickly. 
Now offload everything you just loaded and reload it with something else. 
What do you mean it’s not done yet?
Ignore the drivers and focus on the train. 

100 drivers in the yard clogging the tracks and toplift can’t move. 

CP: work safe!!

Toxic environment. 
Bad equipment. 
Even worse yard conditions.
Not a leg to stand on against CP. 
Their way or the highway. 

Worst job of my life. 

fast paced work environment with strict deadlines. the guys in the shop are a pleasure to work with and make the days go by quick. the early start is perfect for a young person to have afternoons off in the summer time to have the time to still be with friends and have a social life.
