Residents at South Shore villa MacLeod group in Crapaud PEI were wonderful. 
The work environment was a different story. Very negative and lots of drama from employees. Some employees who look after residents have no training and it shows by the care that the residents recieved.
Oral care was not done, faces not washed. Hair not combed. Residents were put to bed  for the night in there day outfits.
Famous words by employees was " I am not doing it". 
Most care givers can not be found for the the good part of the day. Hiding out in shower rooms in groups Playing on there phones.
Management would rather replace there good employees with foreign workers. 
Must be to get government funding to put more money in the company's pocket.
I seen first hand this is terrible for the residents as there is a language barrier so the residents have no way to effectively communicate with there care givers.
Residents monthly expenses were raised with no pre warning to the residents or there families.
If you are thinking of putting a loved one in a care home, stay away from MacLeod Cares south shore Villa in Crapaud PEI.
There was some upsides some of the nurse are really wonderful and genuinely care and it shows. Others just there for a pay cheque.
Security that was there (she is gone now for a better place to work) was great always there to help.
Management barley left there office to address any of these concerns. 
Only to come out and give new cooks a hard time about using to much ingredients to make good food for the residents. 
There are good people who work at South Shore villa but at the end of the day...Stay away.

I worked at South Shore for about 2 years. Great benefits package with dental and a decent hourly wage. Things I wish I knew going in: inconsistent schedule, sometimes only part time work was available, sometimes I was getting asked to work overtime (no overtime pay due to home care work), a regular weekly, biweekly or monthly schedule was always in the works but was never successfully established. Overnight "sleep" shifts are a 10 hour commitment for only $35 flat rate (paid hourly rate only if you have to assist residents for any reason) and only an Ikea pullout couch available to sleep on in the middle of the living room at 2 locations. I loved the DSW work and most staff who have been there for a while have great hearts and are in it for the right reasons BUT with little or no training required to be hired it is unfortunately a revolving door of staff. 

I worked for southshore for 2 years and found that they are making some good changes. Overnight wage has gone up. Great benefits.  The new management is understanding and helpful. There is lots of hours if you choose to do them. Clients are well established in there routines and are active with many activities. In the summer there is lots to do on the water as the homes are all water front properties as well as many trails for hiking. There are day trips and overnight trips that are all expense paid that ive really enjoyed. The staff is great to work with. I have worked in several group homes and this is one I'd definitely recommend.

I enjoyed helping the elderly residents
it was a very fast paced environment with a high turn around with the staff team as they were not flexible in alot of areas (example: sick days, appointments, switching shifts, Increasing pay etc) I found the work load was alot for one person to handle at times they were short staffed and as a staff member i would at times be doing double the work load or more to try and get on time for meals we would cut corners that normally wouldn't be acceptable on a regular full staff shift.

Clinton View Lodge is under new management now so I cannot speak for how they are now.  It is a dual care facility which offered Community Care and Nursing Care.

I was responsible for Bookkeeping, Accounts Payable/Receivables, Human Resources, Event planning and ordering and buying supplies.

The hardest part of the job was watching the residents deteriorate and eventually pass away.  The nicest part is that they were treated with dignity and respect.

The pay and benefits are good, but management is horrible since rehiring. The nurses love to sit on their phones for hours and text, or sleep through the entire night shift. Management and other staff are fully aware of neglect of patients (not being changed on multiple occasions throughout multiple shift for 24+ hours) and do nothing to change it or discipline  those who are reported for neglecting residents (with multiple different avenues of proof) They do not have a full license as they do not care for their patients if you love your grandparents keep them far away from this horrid establishment.

Endless workload with no clear definition of ones duties. Working with the seniors is very rewarding but its difficult to see a nursing home understaffed as the residents unfortunately pay for this. The work environment is like any other, it depends on who you work with that dictates how the shift will go. There are extremely hard workers and some lazy ones as well. I found working with the old schoolers a much better and more productive day. all in all its not a bad place to work if you don't mind drama and lack of support from the government.

Want to show you who is in charge. Unrealistic expectations. Kinda like a cult. 
They have a very high turnover rate as they feel.everyone is disposable but we now seen this job posting on here regularly since the new year so I wld say word is getting out. They really only keep employees that are family members or friends of management. I dont think they like to see employees getting along its like they want total control. Its actually mind blowing this day and age.

Great employees however work culture needs improvement 
Most concerning issues is with management : 
Need to be more resident centred 
Abs also create and open atmosphere that allows employees to work out issues in a transparent supportive manner rather than “running behind each other’s back to tell management “. 
Hopefully there can be more leadership trying for management to create a health work environment 

The facility I worked in was disorganized and stress full and not a welcoming environment, most departments are over worked under staffed and under appreciated. I was payed the wrong wage for about a year before I noticed and had them fix it and received no back pay for their error as well as recently had a paycheck messed up and had to wait w weeks to have it fixed that left me with under $50 in my paycheck to survive on
