I've worked for MacPhee Ford for a fair amount of time, and have seen a lot of change in that time. Up until recently we've had a very iron fisted individual in charge of our service department. There was a large amount of turn over, and we had a hard time remaining consistent over all, both with staffing and customer experience. 

Since getting new management in the last few months, there has been a general turn around in morale, and a goodly amount of job satisfaction. If you have an issue and it is presented logically, your thoughts are heard and often acted upon, provided you have concrete reasons for your idea. 

Management is fair and reasonable, and very approachable on a day to day basis, even with the simple stuff that can go wrong in a shop. No one acts like you are an annoyance for needing something, which often times happened previously. 

All in all, I'm very satisfied with my job, and I work with some really great people, including our new management. If you work hard and perform, you are compensated for your work very well. They tend to value your worth, which is in itself very gratifying.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Co-workers are fine friendly most of the time. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being able to get customers & support from management. The managers there are very much not too willing to help. There is an unwillingness to help sales people sit down and make phone calls. They are too busy running errands or just don’t want to. It’s like pulling teeth. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It can be good. But there is a lot of favouritism there and if you’re not one of the favourites be careful. The way their leads are set up is atrocious but great for who ever is able to get them. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Showing up early to try to get a chance to talk to a customer because the leads are near impossible to get. But that’s not the managers problem. They don’t care if you’re struggling and don’t make an effort to sit down and come up with a solution. Instead of watering their grass they will just get new grass.

I enjoyed working for Macfee, the sales and management staff were amazing, great people.  5 star experience, a staff with understanding and supportive.  
My work experence there was great, until I got fired for being put on medical leave. How can a job find a reason to fire someone who was put on medical leave?  I find this was discrimination, and abuse of a decision made by medical discrimination. I worked very hard  and went above and beyond in my performance. There was no just cause to fire me. I worked even though I was suffering pain, could barely move, I suffered and this was my reward, getting fired. This decision was made purely by discrimination. I was fired the same day I was put on medical leave. 

I would never recommend working at Macphee Ford to anyone after the experience I had. Lots of drama within staff and management does stuff behind your back. I have seen them fire people for no reason and they also give you empty threats about your job security when things aren’t going there way. I never once heard “good job” while I was there however heard “is this done yet” and “make sure you don’t f**k it up” plenty of times all while being rushed with unrealistic timelines and expectations. I’ve seen 4 technicians not including myself leave because of this toxic workplace environment. If you’re ever hurting for a job so much you end up working here, good luck. 

Unlike working for a major automotive group, MacPhee Ford has a very hands on and inviting culture within it. Speaking from the sales side of the business, management is very helpful and always willing to share insight and tips towards how you can improve yourself. 

When you have this type of management available to you it makes it a lot easier to enjoy and succeed in your job. This is especially important during the slower periods of the year when you don't see as many customers. Being able to ask for help and learn how to improve your prospecting skills goes a long way!

Worker morale was usually low, despite a lot of truly great co workers who tried even though we're often put down in degrading weekly and monthly meetings (but don't worry, they'll feed you while they tell you how incompetant you are)

Management went by the revolving door philosophy of business, rather than properly train and give employees the correct tools to excel at their job they prefer to hire and fire.

Hours were good, Saturdays are paid well and fed lunch

All in all, could have been a great place to work but ruined by iron fisted management and incompetant owners.

I myself was a former employee. management would come to you and try to get you to upsell something to reach a quota, which there was no reward for a job well done, for example, no raises, no bonuses and definitely no pat on the back. management would have a meeting just to tell everybody how terrible they are at their job, no recognition. i thought there was a future career for me, but there was only lies. If there was a .5 rating for management i would have put that

I liked most of the staff however there is a lot favoritism.  Salary is very low for the long days you put in being on the go all day with little or no breaks.  Poor management in some areas of the business.  
On a good note, free lunches on Saturday however that doesn't make up for the poor management.  Was hired to do one job, little to no training, no fault of my co worker who was expected to their job along with training.  
Wouldn't recommend this a place to work as they have a very high volume of staff turnaround.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I liked the staff and I love working around cars

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
no scheduled breaks, often no lunch break with no extra pay except maybe a cold burger that you would not get time to eat

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was pretty stressful and a little antagonistic

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
7 am to 6 pm non stop one client after another

The old fixed ops manager was impossible to work for, unfortunately drove good technicians away from the store and hurt the name. Now that Mike Hackett is running the shop, someone who has an open door policy and you can trust to look after you in the slow times it is not even the same shop. 

Money is good, and if you are good at what you do you can make a lot of it.
