To be honest, the company has very good owners, both the founder and the general manager are very good people, the problem is the middle management, who I think have a work system that does not correspond to a small company like Mainland and they make sure that at least the area where I worked was always full of work, which at least for me led me to make mistakes (I designed a project 25 times in different ways and when it was finished they changed it, it sounds funny but it is not, since logically the final version was done quickly and of course with some small errors). I hope they do very well in the future and can grow accordingly (for that they must change the middle management and make a more flexible and agile company).

I've been into this company for more than 15 years. Whoever wrote on the bottom (which I know who you are) saying that there's no support to the engineering department is just a false information. Writing bad comments after you get laid off it's just a class-less move.

Friendly environment, management is very supportive. Reasonable time to finish your tasks. Things might get a bit tense when there's a rush job but that's pretty rare. All sorts of different projects, from API tanks to materials handling and more, you get to learn a lot here.

Got an undeniable opportunity elsewhere, or else I wouldn't have left the company.

I worked there almost ten years ago and wish I never left . I worked there as a parts coordinator and I loved it . It was difficult at first but I felt as though I was given adequate training and support. I was always treated well by leadership and was even provided with winter gear including boots after only being there for a few months. I wish I never left I loved what I did and other than few misunderstandings I really liked my coworkers . I only left because of personal issues and I wish I never did by far my favourite job I’ve ever had 

Over all mainland machinery was a good place to work and paid a fair hourly rate. Safety was always priority at work and the fact that they didn't care how long it took you to do something as long as you were safe doing the task. The downside of working at mainland machinery is they higher a large crew and without warning they do a big layoff.

The work at Mainland is complex and has a learning curve, but once the curve is achieved it stays the same for most of the work.  The company is family owned and is constantly working on getting projects, so they have to be very selective with what they spend money on.

Was exciting at first till they don't live up to their promises . Don't expect a raise , overtime felt pressured fake wage ads to attempt to attract certified tradesmen. Poor ventilation and old building . No rrsp matching regardless of what they advertise. 

The management "team" couldn't care less about their employees as long as they are all right. No wage increases, if you want an increase you leave the company. The company expects you to take on new tasks without considering giving you a few dollars for the extra work.

I started with the company about two years ago.  Things have been on a steady path to getting better in those two years.  I have heard people on the management team talk about being an employer of choice for our area.  Looking forward to the future with this company.

The company needs a good drawing office to support the engineering.
Currently, the CAD department is in mess. Pressure/Induce stress is the driving force more than doing thins in the right way.

Family owned company that cares for their employees. Good wages and great shifts. The staff in the office and the shop are great people to work with.
