Horrible place to work. The pay is way below industry standards. The management has zero actual management skills and are all old friends, so anyone else is just a number. Constantly Changing your shifts around regardless of you previously planned and approved vacation times. If you question them at all, they will just say welcome to the oilfield and deal with it. Asking for a raise is the exact same as quitting at this company. There is zero confidentiality at this company. If you have a private conversation with management all the employees will know about it in less than an hour. the camp is awful, full of mold from a leaking roof that fills the lighting fixtures with water. The food makes you spend more time in the restroom than working. The benefits are almost non existent. The boot allowance is every two years, so get used to wearing the same boots 12+hrs a day for the next two years. The equipment is all worn down and outdated.

in these tough times the pace can be up and down but i would say that its normally fast paced. given ample time to get jobs done safely and professionally. all kinds of PPE is available for use and readily available, safety glasses, face sheilds, rain gear, gloves, etc. currently they do have financial aid programs for boot allowance and prescription safety glasses. most issues arise from other workers not management itself as they can only do so much and stay on top of situations as they are brought forward by the workers. you know what shift you are getting when you are hired on and even though a 21 day shift is a long haul you get 2 weeks off to spend with family so i would say its well balanced in its own way. i have been treated great since i started provided help where needed and they call you by your name not just "hey you".
great place to work and i don't see myself needed a change in employement anytime soon

The best part of working at Manatokan was the strong safety culture, supportive senior management, high team morale, and a shared commitment to “do it right, do it together,” along with opportunities for career growth, good wages, quality equipment, and work-life balance.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most challenging aspect was the nature of the industry itself not the company, including 21-day hitches and extended work in frigid weather conditions, which can be mentally and physically demanding at times.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work culture is positive and safety-driven.  I always felt valued and appreciated.

I originally joined ASCO (parent company to Manatokan) in 2009 as a warehouse tech in Nova Scotia.  Through multiple advancement opportunities I progressed into a HSEQ Coordinator position and in 2015 transferred to Manatokan in Alberta to take a position as a HSEQ Field Advisor.  In my time with Manatokan I have experienced tremendous support towards my professional development and continued progression within the company.  I would recommend Manatokan to any person looking to advance (or start) their career in the Alberta oilfield.  



You always want to find a job that you want to return to.  Alas, this is not about Manatokan.  In short, it's junk.  I have never seen trucks and equipment in such a terrible state.  units break down more often than mechanics can repair them.  Be prepared to work on broken trucks.  In general, any truck of the company is a dream of DOT.  And you will pay fines for all problems with truck.   Rhe rotation of people in the company is horrendous.  people run away from the company as soon as they understand where they are.  the kitchen is good


Used to be a decent place to work with a bunch of decent guys. But it’s mostly just new faces now as the good guys have left to other companies as manatokan falls behind in wages. Be prepared to make 31$ maximum or less. 

Upper management will not care about you no matter how long you stay or what you can do for them only the dollar matters. 

If it gets slow you will sit while the guys in the clique will work everyday. 

Some good people there still. Pay is below industry standards. Most work is for Cenovus, half of those people you deal with are great, the other half are the worst a person could be. Manatokan management are mostly lazy fools who have only advanced for being lapdogs not hard workers. You get to do extra work, so the sons, girlfriends and friends of management  do less work. They don’t even put there name on the adds they post anymore because of there horrible reputation.

Not guaranteed work, a lot of shop rate time for those "guaranteed" hours, poorly managed, be prepared to be thrown under the bus with Cenovus. Place is a joke, your just a number and they cater to the east coasters. If your  not in bed with a higher up, kissing butt, don't expect it to last very long. Direct supervisor was awesome, but what cenovus wants they get. Still have yet to get an ROE, . Blessing in disguise now as at least I'm working around home now

Great work, bad appreciation and that shows in your pay, also make sure you get everything in writing on paper because they will screw you for anything. They were supposed to pay me for my schooling and when it came to getting reimbursed for my 4th year they told me they don't have to pay me

Decent place to work, the people are all likeminded and here for a good time, but... 
Pay is almost always messed up 
Organization is terrible, no planning involved in any aspect of the company
Management is nonexistant because its a free for all. 
No value in long term employees, would rather get a new puppet
