Manitoba Conservation

Throughout the years working with Manitoba Conservation I have learned a lot in the Forest Fire Fighting department I have received training as Restricted Operator - Aeronautical. I have worked independently in many fire situations in the office, I have done coding and worked with inventory control and all this I believe that wouldn't be possible for the support and training I have received with Manitoba Conservation.

It has a mandate to manage resources and most time forgets to consult indigenous people who have a prior interest to lands n resources. They need to go beyond consultation

Producing maps and developing GIS skills in the Protected Parks Department. Documented maps for land rights and anything that was needed for that department. Great people to work with. It was a nice small group where everyone worked with one another. During lunch we had a chance to go on small hikes near the office.

A typical day at work included the cleaning office and bunk houses. Through out the week i had to cut the grass. My co-workers were very nice always helpful when i needed them. There wasn't really a hard part of the day but i did find parts of the days with nothing to do. The most enjoyable part of my job was being outside.

I worked alone, I ordered the fire crews lunches and stuff they needed like food for their trips into the bush for days into the forest. 
I cleaned the fire hoses, mow the lawn maintained the office and files. Took care of the place basically.

Manitoba Conservation was a fun and relaxed workplace, I worked for as a green team member cleaning and maintaining Manitobas provincial parks and trails. I enjoyed working there and working with a team of guys my age.

It is a great place to work, lots of opportunities to get great training in different trades. Awesome people to work with great management. Always keeping busy.

I do not recommend taking any position within Manitoba conservation especially anything entry level or labour related as you will be disrespected and walked on by management 

Love the place to learn and work independently with small office. You work with regional and head office staff and regularly stay in contact with everyone.
