Use it to your advantage to grow, open doors to other opportunities- if you have map/blue print you want to enforce. 

You will meet nice people who will give the 411, point you in the right direction, who are resourceful, and who want the best for you once they get know. It's really who you know and not you know. At the end of the day you are in control of what you want to do and go. You learn so much about the job to gain new skills and learn about other people job position. They have mentoring programs as well to help assist you in any way. 

Some of the teammates bullies you just because you’re new. Some of  coworkers step on you especially if you’re quiet. They do not respect you as a person and thinks so much of them. Some agency staff do not do their job well and get away with it. No cellphone policy and yet they use their cellphones all the time using their earbuds. No break room area.  Work loads aren’t balanced. Some have heavy loads while others seems like socializing and having chats and laughs with their “people” instead of working or helping others that has heavy loads of work.  

Bottom end management and floor officers receive little to no support from upper management.  This makes a negative environment even more negative.  The youth of the industry are not being taught properly when coming into the institutions, from the training school.  Which adds stress to the staff, older and newer, on job performance.

At the time, I enjoyed my tour.  I was in need of extra work and Maplehurst was able to provide it for me.  It was close to where I had lived at the time so it was fast and easy to get to.  Lots of call in shifts.  I cannot review it accurately now, as it has been a very long time since I have worked there.  

it's been a good experience at maplehurst. very fast pace but rewarding in dealing with at risk clients. best thing is great support from management and peers. wish they would do more proffesional developmental training for support staff and not just correctional officers.

As above, I worked 1 day per week as I was in a full time job.  The senior staff were very approachable and the physicians on call and on staff very helpful and supportive.  I enjoyed working there for the time I was on the payroll.  

Dealing with incarcerated clients can be stressful. Good assessment skills are vital. Must be able to multi task and work with autonomy. Mental health training would be a good skill to have in this environment.

MHCC is a fast-paced environment, but also has its downtimes when you can collect your thoughts and organize your day. If you are a driven person you can do well here and excel in the role.

Did severaal jobs here. Like Correctionaal Officer, Classification and Work Gang Supervisor. Vaarious letters on my personnel file for good work done plus good attendance.,

good money but the environment isn't the best, the people who work there are very nice and friendly.  I've learned a lot working here, and the benefits are great.
