There is something seriously wrong with the warehouse management that run this facility.  They jump to conclusions, make irrational-emotional decisions and are subjective rather than objective to what or whom they deal with.  When an error is made by them that a warehouse person or driver brings to their attention, their response is slow and attitude is immature to the group as to say who are you to know better than us.

Fairness is severely lacking at this facility.  If you are cronies with the warehouse management you will survive physically in work load, but if you are honest and say nothing and keep your head down and work, warehouse management will drive you into the ground until you break.

God forbid if you exceed your pick times for an order and sit down for few seconds to drink a cup of water to re-energize they will chase after you and discipline or threaten to discipline you for wasting company time; meanwhile the management and their warehouse person cronies are hanging out in the shipping office joking around doing nothing.

I am optimistic that other Martin Brower management facilities are fair, calm, cool, collected and appreciative of input and I hope change happens here soon.

Favortism when work load assignments passed out.  Some pick all day and others allowed to sit in office or on forklifts chatting most of the shift.

Management plays biases with those who stroke their ego and talk about golf instead of recognizing those working hard picking all shift.

Lead hands not on duty still get all the easy work and got paid more than contract said. Creates poor work atmosphere.

Supervisors are stressed out too and look for other work ASAP.

And if you get hurt at work they will conduct biased injury investigations to either lay the total blame on you or that it happened elsewhere.  Supervisors instructed to lie when conducting the investigation.

Well you start off by punching in and then we have a production meeting every shift then safety check are long forked pallet jack then off to worked by picking orders what i learned was  how to build a pallet  from bottom up with weight and big and small boxes and to make it straight with the heavy boxes on bottom and  we shrink wrap it and off to the , loading dock and stage it there for the loaders . I learned how to built pallets and i learned there proceder to get orders from the computer with there codes and priint . there were different orders like dry wich is all dry and refrige and how to built them and ya i was slow at first cause this kind of proceders were differtn from what i did before they wanted you to take your time for the first month and ahlf so you do it right and precise then they wanted you to pick it up speed comes as you gett better in time i was doing good  i pick it up quite fast and very few mistakes .The mangement was very good and helpful my coworkers were really big help and i asked question s and they had no problem helping   , The hardest part of the job was at the start getting used to the procedures and  buliding the pallet  ,the easyest was when i started getting it all clicked to gether i was getting faster  everyday and it just came to me will practise at first its hard but with practise i got better and good at it . The awesome challenge was the long forked pallet jack getting the  orders and pallets in the tight  bays with little room and not hit or damage boxes , I had no problem i was pro after a three days Very good job.

Very hard labour picking orders and tight time restricts picking and loading trucks.  Vancouver is the only MB in Canada at 100% Engineered standards which means if you are below even at 99% they discipline you with letter then letter then 1 day suspension then 2 day suspension then 4 day suspension then termination.  Rampant favouritism by the warehouse management some just push papers or work on load builds at the same rate of pay if mgmt likes you and supervisors make deals with some pickers that suck up to help them to cheat the system to hit the 100% while the rest of us work honest and hard.  Lots of weekend work.  And we found out Brampton MB pays their warehousemen the most and they are not on engineered standards and their dispatches and pick orders are late but in Vancouver we get paid less than them and hit the production targets and dispatch times.  Unpaid fairly for the work we do. Brampton wages or bust!

The people you will work with are great and that’s good because you will be spending A LOT of time with them. No work life balance and if you do leave early, it’s because you’re going home to workor because our just can’t take it anymore. Can’t even go to bbq because I have to check emails. Would never get paid l right ...work way more extra than you get lieu days for.  Your team leads comment on every little thing you do, make inappropriate comments, argue with each other in front if you and “perception” word used way to much it makes you sick  Managers/team leads works 24/7and expects the same from you (but won’t say it). And senior leadership... they are on another planet. 

The benefit plan is so old: no RRSP until 2 years, you start with 3 weeks vacation but don’t get another week until 10 years and no flex plan. Also need to wait 6months for your benefits vacation but other companies give them to you on first day. You need to work evenings and on weekends and you will never get Xmas vacation.

Every day I started at 5:30 AM would punch in and then take a checklist of necessary check overs needed for the Power-Jack I would be using for that day. After topping up battery and completing the necessary inspections I would sign into the Vocollect voice pick headset and also sign in on the picking program on the computer. Once the program and the headset were sync'd I would grab to pallets and begin building my skids for shipment.

Once I had reached the end of the task at hand I was to shrink wrap the order and place it in it's proper position on the loading dock in accordance to the load diagram. I would repeat this process a few times over the course of the day until the last 15 or 20 minutes of my shift and then I would finish what I was working on and begin sanitation (clean up) until the end of my shift.

This supply chain team is a mess, lead by new leaders who have little to no supply planning experience and focus on inventory objectives only. You will be thrown into the fire with little training and you will be expected to work weekends on a regular basis but they will not tell you this when they hire you. 

There are a lot of opportunities for advancement but they are given to senior leadership's "favourites" instead of those that are actually deserving. 

Also, this place is looking to establish a certain culture of young people... they fired all of the "old" people in early 2018... isn't that illegal?

leave the hotel,yes hotel,all drivers are put up in hotels on over night runs,head to your first drop,all deliveries are time sensitive ,all freight is on pallets but some lifting is required 
Management can be demanding sometimes but think its the same no matter where you work
Its a union environment so that has its good points and bad
Seniority is everything,determines the runs you get,your overtime and holidays but climbing seniority goes pretty quickly 
Hardest part of the job is dealing with weather and staying on time
Most enjoyable part is independence work environment 

I did not like this job I had to be fast and not get hurt and pick orders on carts in dry and freezer and cooler all day. I worked 430pm to 3am on Saturdays n Sundays and 2 other days. I had to sleep all day at home because I was so tired and sore and I did not get to see my family. If I stayed there I will get hurt for sure and other guys that get hurt the company treats them like criminals. Good money but I found a different job that pays almost the same and better hours so I can see my family more and not sleeping all day and not so much picking.

Everyday was an easy day maintaining paperwork. Calling stores for issues or delivery time changes etc. Preparing driver paperwork for next day and going through OS&Ds fior stores. Coworkers and management worked together when gathering information pertaining to individual store needs and were always heplful in assisting one another. The hardest part of my position was completing work that also required the work of other people from other departments. The best part of the job was the atmosphere of the work place which is very comforting and allows for more productivity.

Management treats you like you're stupid. They all come from the same warehouse but don't know what's going on or how to fix problems. They have all worked together at another warehouse which makes the problem even worse. They do not listen to employee input. There are many bullies when working on the floor which does not make the workplace pleasant. You will not rise in seniority for a very long time making the work repetitive and boring for newer employees. The most enjoyable part of the shift is when you get to go home.
