I initially joined with the hope that being a Brand Ambassador would be a fun, short-term opportunity. While the role had its positive moments, I found the overall experience to be more difficult than expected.

Before my first shift, I was asked to purchase all-black formal wear, which ended up costing over $100. Although this wasn’t mentioned ahead of time, I accepted it as part of the job.

However, my concerns began to grow during the shifts. I received comments that I appeared "unfriendly" or "hard to approach" based solely on my posture or facial expressions, even when I was simply standing with my hands behind my back. Despite raising concerns about how this feedback made me feel, particularly around potential bias, I didn’t feel they were adequately addressed.

I was also surprised to hear the brand we were representing described as "luxury," as that did not match my personal or cultural experience with the brand. This made me question how the assignment was being positioned to the team.

The workplace culture felt somewhat exclusive, and it was challenging to integrate socially without already having close ties to others on the team. At times, the atmosphere felt more like a tight-knit social group than a supportive work environment.

A particularly difficult moment occurred when a passerby took a photo of me without consent and shared it with someone from the event team, criticizing my appearance. Instead of defending my right to privacy or addressing the inappropriate behavior of the consumer, the concern was redirected toward me.

While I did my best to be professional—greeting guests, assisting with activities, and engaging with the public—I ultimately felt that my efforts weren't recognized or supported in the way I had hoped.

In my view, this role may not be the best fit for individuals who are more introverted, value inclusive environments, or are uncomfortable with micromanagement. I’ve since realized that I’m better suited for positions that align with my values and where I can apply my education in a more meaningful way.


What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay is really good as in my area it's $7 above minimum. The hours were also okay.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
This company is so disorganized. What onboarding tells you is different than what the trainer will tell you. They want you to use two sites for demo reports but won't actually put in a schedule and won't have you on the one they emphasized was the important one immediately. When reaching out to inquire about my first day and where I'd be they didn't respond until 45 minutes before I was supposed to technically start and they didn't even know where I was going. Asked me why I didn't reach out to a manager when two days prior they stated they didn't know who the manager was yet. I moved locations the next week and due to not actually being scheduled I didn't find out where I was going until the day before.

Each shift had a different problem including the last one I did where the skid didn't even have an essential item to the job which I ended up getting lectured by the Costco employee about not having.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Horrible. Disorganized and mismanaged.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You go to the location, start your workday on one app. You're supposed to technically do a report on the other but they didn't have that open to me right away even after emphasizing that was the most important of the two. Setting up the kiosk and doing samples was probably the best part. Be warned you may be approached by people who had a bad experience with what you're selling. You then take down the kiosk and have two reports to do (one of them I didn't have access to the other I only had access to the report half the shifts I worked). You're required to seek out a manager to sign off on your sales of the day. Expect to stay later if it's busy in the store you're demoing at.

Horrible experience. Paid half descent hourly rate, barely any training from the manager - my training was interrupted continuosly by sales manager answering cell phone dealing with payroll issues which should have been a red flag for me...the sales managers' comment was very aloof about it. No communication as far as entering hours and/ expenses online( you have to buy milk than claim it). No help or return communication from Matchmarketing. Sales Manager rarely returns emails, and did not enter my hours! I did not get paid and still havent! Absolute farce of a company to work for - think twice before getting involved with the Nespresso program through Matchmarketing! Sales manager not sensitive to people having a family life outside of Nespresso. Very demanding environment. 

For a couple of short shifts a week completely not worth your while to get involved with. Sales manager would not provide payrolls' contact info to me..even after numerous requests. I was completely ignored. Matchmarketing would not get back to me either.. no one takes responsibility and always try to pass the buck! I still have not been able to speak to payroll! Dont waste your precious time on Nespresso. Manager not accessible to help you out for entering your hours on new system or about pay roll. Incompetent employees. They need to employ local area contractors who deal DIRECTLY with Nespresso themselves and drop the sales manager role! This would work MUCH better! Selling the Nespresso brand is a privilege and initially I was happy to represent. Unfortunately the management issues took away from the actual role and purpose of this position!!

This company was pretty good until management changed, and then suddenly the bottom line was the only thing that was important. Didn't matter if the weather was bad (travel was a huge part of the job) or you were exhausted from working a 12 hour day the day before (and not getting paid overtime for it because you're an "independent contractor", which is false); you'd be expected to weather the storm and get the work done because that was more important than your health. My manager became unresponsive to my questions and emails and basically told me to just do my job instead of taking any suggestions upon improvement. 
Some of the workers here are lovely people; I found a great group of friends. Unfortunately for the most part you will be working alone and only rarely with someone else. 
I am really upset to find out my same position is being offered in my area with a pay increase, a fact that is particularly frustrating as I never saw a raise in the years I worked for this company. This job is good if you like to travel during the winter months, are fine with long days with no overtime, very little communication from management and you're able to problem solve on your own. Also keep in mind that it is seasonal; you get paid well for a few months at the beginning of the year and then need to find anther job to scrape by until you get paid well for another few months in the middle of summer. Beyond terrible management I needed to quit so I could find a job that paid me well all year round so I could afford my rent. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
You're on your own most of the time. Double edge sword, you work for them, but also for the company they assign you to. Doing menial labour on top of your own assignments. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Frequent changes in procedures and processes. ALSO, nobody replies when from the management team when you need answers. They ignore you. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful situations daily and they claim you're not a salesperson but they have quotas for sales. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sign in, check your area, take pictures, clean, make sure everything works, fill out forms if it doesn't, and wait 3-6 months for the broken item to be repaired, set your displays 50-100 lbs., while sweating and wearing black, take pictures of said display, send multiple messages during the day using WhatsApp, keep logs of all brand-specific sales, train staff, setup media, clean again, everyone touches everything, take more pictures, log out, and go home.

Match Marketing is a terrible place to work at. They make it seem like they need you because they only need you seasonally and once that season ends, they just forget about you like you are nothing. They tell you its a full-time permanent position not a TEMPORARY position. They don't prepare you with anything so you have to get majority of the things for yourself and then they tell you they will reimburse you but after they "carefully" review your expenses, they will tell you that they can't approve of your expenses so you don't get any money back. They take advantage of you and they will tell you that the job is within your area but they end up making you drive all over the place and they also won't reimburse you for any mileage. At first this job seems like it's really great but no they work you like a dog and they expect way too much for you. They provide barely any training and then they send you out by yourself even when you don't know anything and they are not nice about it when you make a mistake.

Working for match retail as a brand promoter, I do enjoy my position in field. The job description is not complex, the job is easy to absorb, support is great. 
With that in mind, a few concerns regarding the HR end - mainly bonus handling. The fact that promoters have to wait 60 business days to get bonuses paid out, is a bit less than desired. Especially given that all other retail companies pay out bonuses the following cheque after announcing the bonus to their employees. In my opinion, The company should pay out bonuses out of budget and deal with the client afterwards, instead of making promoters wait for a “random date” to get paid out. The expectations are expressed in real time - so should be the rewards. 

The work itself was reasonably tolerable except for the office politics of the higher-ups. Not to mention the fact that the people working for the cosmetic companies sending the kits to the stores you will be working at have probably never set foot in a department store in their lives. There was not a single day where a company sent us everything we needed/didn't send extra stuff to get thrown out/understood the actual size of the wall we were working on. If you're the type of person who doesn't let things get to you and has a "we will do what we can with what we have to the best of our ability attitude" then you will probably do pretty okay with this job.

Worked there for around 2 years. It was great in 2015 when the team lead and team members actually cared about making sales and work together as a team. 

Since 2016, the team lead left and new hired team leads (changed countless time through my stay in the company) were forcing their own selling methods and work style on the team. Lack of communication and understanding which drove many well-trained, good ethic staff to leave. New hires are given very poor training and lack the drive to sell machines. Unclear sales goal and no career advancement.

There are better jobs out there that pay same / above for the work they put you through as their brand ambassador. Other company do offer a set schedule and won't randomly cancel your shift last minute.

Job was to hand out coupons for the Redbox automated video store machines. $18/hour flat rate. No commission, so no pressure to get rid of all coupons, though it was generally easy to do so. I gave demonstrations to as many as possible as well, and had some good interactions with customers and skeptics alike. After work, you submit results online. Very relaxed, very simple, but fulfilling. 4 and 5 hour shifts make it hard to live off of it, but flexibility in schedule allows for other jobs and as a second job it was great. Some contacts are different than others of course. Highly recommend applying if you have any drive for sales.
