Well if you like working for companies that constantly attack you for any small error in you’re work you do. While management themselves continuously screws up and chases out customers out of the building , and allows the journeyman / lead hands to literally bully and  degrade fellow employees. Then you will love working for maxim in Edmonton. Do you like working for a shop that is clique , we’re the morning shift welder and foreman are buddy buddy , so they can do whatever the heck they want. While using the shop as their own personal car garage on the weekend and selling lemons to other people online. Not to mention blowing off their black water into the shop drainage so the whole shop literally smells like  human feces. 

My first day as a 1st year in Edmonton the current journeyman/ lead hand told me “ it’s not safety first at maxims , it’s do what the heck I tell you to do. “ 

Not to mention the 1 week of days 1 week of nights for most employees while the buddies of the shop foreman and manager freely decide when their shift will start. And what work they feel like doing during the day.

I enjoyed many years at Maxim. I learned everything you need to know about the trucking industry. When I started I was doing one job and by the time I left it was close to six jobs. I would still be there if it wasn't for the fact I never got a raise except for very very small cost of living increase that just put me into the other tax bracket. The last service manager I had didn't know what he was doing and I finally had to leave. Almost all the staff was great with one that caused nothing but trouble to everyone but you will get that anywhere. If the situation was right I'd go back in a heart beat. I enjoyed many nice conversations with the President and Vice President.

I have returned to Maxim after 10 years working elsewhere to restore my work/life balance. I don't dread coming to work on a Monday and I generally set my own work pace. I feel trusted to complete my work without being micromanaged. Management has been helpful in developing my required skills and there is always someone, whether here or Head Office, who is able to answer my questions while I continue learning. Of course, as with any job, there are some trying times but as long as you're putting your best foot forward, this is a rewarding company to work for. 

Be careful about Edmonton location Parts dept. It is very disorganized and they do not prioritize their customers. I was embarrassed on several occasions trying to assist customers. Inventory is never correct and quotes take forever. There is infighting and power trips with the managers and it be extremely frustrating. There is a lack of professionalism with how they handle their employees and customers. Quite schocking. The Service dept, however, is very well run by the manager. The only issue is when they have to wait on parts to get customers jobs done.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay is okay. That’s it the politics here are insane. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working with management. Where instead of creating solutions to problems they create more steps involved in the job which don’t correct the things going wrong. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic you got some good people. Company would rather punish you over helping you. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depends if bosses are in. If not days are smooth if they are days tend to get hectic

Company is committed to promoting from within. In IT, they ask where you would like to grow so telling them lets them give you the training you need to up. They are part of an enterprise-scale organization, which gives opportunities for internal growth. The company's ownership structure is worth looking up to see the bigger picture. Company's senior people are motivated to make the lives of their people better by providing excellent support. It's a busy environment in IT to work in but the managers work with you closely so it is good tha way. IT leads and team have a strong working relationship.

Very good company for studying, and friendly staff

My level of understanding English

 Very high, I did not experience any problems with working in a team

Carrying out the tasks that your supervisor provides you with

I worked for a few companies before Maxim and had many bad experiences. It even got to the point where I thought about changing fields.

However, working at Maxim showed me what working in a solid and stable work environment should be. There are very open to new ideas, are compassionate when it comes to employees' specific needs and overall just a great place to work.

From the people to workload - I get it a 10/10

New challenges and problems to solve everyday.  Very supportive managers to help guide and support you.  Workplace culture is very positive with lots of employee perks and fun activities through the social club both in and out of the office.

Working here you will have fun, get paid great. Lacking mentorship and training. A lot of family members work in this shop for it being a small environment. Leadhand has been in/out of this shop 4 times. I got let go from here as a first year apprentice very shortly after one of welders sons started here. Just seems fishy to me.
