-Company overextends itself by initiating projects that never come to fruition due to the lack of personnel: employees must work on projects while accomplishing the already overloaded day-to-day tasks and update their skills but there is not enough manpower.
-Advancement in this company goes to those who endear themselves to bosses, leaving others to do the actual work.
-The promoted leaders then only care about how they come across to their boss, not really about improving anything to help the overworked employees in their team. Then off they go again for yet another promotion before providing anything of real value to the team that they had been entrusted to guide, develop and improve.
-On paper, McKesson looks like an amazing company with good benefits, vacations, inclusive culture with lots of emphasis on mental health. Though a lot of that is true, the reality is that you will be overworked as they never hire more employees as they grow.  If they finally do put up a new posting after almost a year of overworking the teams, it takes another 4 months to go through the HR process.  A process that takes so long, that the selected candidate has already accepted another job elsewhere, leaving McKesson with subpar employees with almost no experience. This translates into: all you do is train, train, train new hires, while you are already feeling a lot of pressure to do your regular work... and then those new employees leave for better pay elsewhere after a few months. Back to square 1.
-There will be no recognition except for the select few brown-nosers, no matter how well one does their job. (Recognition is always the lowest scoring point in their employee surveys)

-They don't like employees who are honest and straight-spoken. They want the fake, happy, "there is no problem ever" type of employees as opposed to the critical thinkers. 

If you fit this profile, you will thrive.


Working at this company had its pros and cons. On the plus side, the company offered good benefits, including health insurance and discounts on some products. I also had the opportunity to meet great people while working there. The colleagues were friendly, supportive, and collaborative, which made for a positive work environment. The remote work option was also a plus, as it provided flexibility and convenience.

However, there were also some significant downsides. One of the major cons was the expectation to take on more work without a salary increase, and management framing it as an opportunity to shine but it felt more like exploitation. This was not only unfair but also demotivating for employees who were already working hard.   

Additionally, the management was harsh and not open to feedback, which made it challenging to address any concerns or suggest improvements.

The company's Human Resources department was also unethical, which was concerning. I witnessed some behavior that was not in line with professional standards, which made me question the company's values.

The company's processes were archaic, and there was a resistance to change. This made it difficult to implement new ideas or improvements, which ultimately hindered the company's growth and success.

Overall, my experience working at this company had its ups and downs. While I appreciated the good benefits and the opportunity to work remotely, the harsh management and lack of support from HR made it difficult to feel valued as an employee. The company's lack of willingness to modernize its processes also made it challenging to stay motivated and engaged.

Great place to work when you become full-time staff with *High seniority and the job pays well. 

When you are part-time, expect to be called anytime for your shift that you may have signed for, with one day off. Which is a marked improvement from when I had started.

The job itself  for the most part is easy with some learning curve here and there with certain positions. This company does give you ample time and opportunity to learn from your mistakes( not all companies are like this).

This new management team is big on enforcing safety procedures and  encourages their employees, who want to make the effort to take on new roles in company. And they do acknowledge employees who do their work and sometimes reward them.

However there are a few jealous employees, who are quick to bad mouth the company and their fellow workers. Just completely avoid these people and make minimal contact with them and you should be fine.

Being a union company, some senior employees take advantage of supervisors, standing around and chit chatting, while their backs are turned, all while the lower seniority full time and part staff are forced to do double duty and pick up the slack to do twice the workload.

The most enjoyable part of the job is group involvement in social, charitable events held at Mckesson and celebrating milestones and employee birthdays and also company Christmas party. It is the only other thing more rewarding than a pay check and an iCare award

You can love what you do, but if you have management that makes life absolutely unbearable, miserable, and stressful to the point of hating ones life, which then causes one to question if they can survive their long term position, then no matter how great other aspects of the job is, it is the management style that will determine the career longevity with that particular company. The program I worked in, the management used fear based techniques to rule. Management would say they supported the team and wanted to hear ideas, problems and how to fix the problems, yet in the same breath, when someone would speak up and express issues and ideas that did and do not not align with management ideas and are perceived as independent thinkers, management would perform detailed performance reviews to collect ANY negative information, to the forensic level,  to build a case against the employee in order to justify removal of the employee. A case similar to the story of Little Red Riding Hood, management are wolves in sheep's clothing and cannot be trusted. Entire teams were witnessed being culled without notice in the same breath of management promising these teams they had job security and management would always work for their teams and back them up. Patient's health and welfare were put at risk and in the end were never a priority.  Management culture is "Do as I say, not as I do". The worse the manager, the more they seem to get promoted.

The position I held at McKesson historically has a lot of turnover. Senior leadership never made me feel like part of the team, I was constantly defending my decisions as a leader and the staff had a free pass to go over my head when they didn’t agree with a plan. The DC where I worked ranked second last in Canada for performance metrics and the dollar value for product breakages was astronomical. The team had no accountability for anything and constantly blamed the other shifts for bad performance or not following procedures. Disrespect was tolerated and terminations were impossible due to the union. When I approached the senior team with encounters I experienced I was gaslit into believing my “perception” was not reality. The people who run the place are incredibly ego driven and rude to the non-union team. The union workers are put on a pedestal because they believe that will increase company survey results, when in fact empowering your management team would lead to a more positive trickle down affect. There is also a huge bias for supervisors that come from a particular company. Everyday I wake up blessed that I no longer work at McKesson and I would not recommend them as an employer.

Was hired as a part-time employee when we actually worked 40 hours a week, with a lot of overtime hours on top of that. But since we’re considered “part-time” we don’t get any of the benefits from being in a union besides a guaranteed raise every 6 months. No PTO, no sick pay and no health benefits, but we still have to pay the same amount of fees as the full-time employees which did not feel very fair at all. Asked the union once to reduce the fees and they refused.

On top of that, the part-time employees who do work hard are expected to pick up the slack for the ones who are slow and lazy, but are paid less due to seniority. These same people are never properly reprimanded. The supervisors and foremans also don’t know what they are doing at times or how to do things efficiently. They are not open to ideas on how to motivate their team or to work efficiently.  The previous foreman turned supervisor also wastes a lot time running around trying to look busy and will claim other shifts numbers are from his shift. Management will give him all the credit of running his shift “so well” and no credit to the actual employees who worked hard. Our shift is self-sufficient without that useless man and always has been for years.

This place was very demotivating and you feel extremely under appreciated.

I worked the afternoon shift from 2:30pm to 11pm and felt like i had to compete with 15 other employees to keep my job, the productivity assessment was a complete joke. They wanted employees to have a ridiculous amount of productivity to have a sense of job security. The supervisor was not helpful at all when it came down to trying to get my login information to access the online workday website. It did not help that all my paystubs were on the site aswell. I worked at DC 540 location in Edmonton for approximately 2 months then moved to DC 560 which was a far better location to work at, while being closer to home. After 2 weeks of working there I was terminated due to my overall work performance at DC 540. There was never a single hint that i would ever be terminated there, only news that I was supposed to be moved to the Evening shift the following week but was done dirty instead by this company. I was terminated within 5 and a half hours of starting my shift without prior notice and never finished the shift that night. I will definitely not recommend working for this company, well at least at the DC 540 location.

I worked here for a year and had an enjoyable experience. The work life balance isn't terrible as you'll be placed on one shift and stay on that shift until you choose to switch. People are very friendly and willing to help for the most part, but unfortunately, there are always some that become complacent and are only there to do the bare minimum and get paid.

Every once in a while, there are volunteer events or themed work days that make working here feel fun! Personally, I found the work easy to pick up, but it becomes stale and repetitive over time. Working here for a long time will take a toll on your body. Lots of the employees here were in their 40-50s and are exhibiting physical wear from doing the same tasks day in and day out ex. carpal tunnel, wearing compression equipment for wrists, elbows, knees, etc.

Overall, this is a great place to be for short term or if you are looking for a decent wage in the area. If you are looking for a company where you can grow, I would look elsewhere.

I like working at McKesson and the health care benefits are great, good number of days off, remote work (optional in-office but depends on your supervisor), the company really emphasizes not contacting people outside their work hours. Many people on our Patient Support Program have been there for 5+ years and really like it as well. 

Important to note, contract workers don't get nearly the same benefits as full time permanent, but it can be a pathway to full time, permanent if you're good. 

The hardest part of the job was training because it was challenging and requires an ability to utilize reference materials, be independent and really problem solve for yourself. I sometimes felt overwhelmed with work in the beginning, but eventually got the hang of it and am very happy at my job now. 

I spend the most time with my supervisor rather than management, but they are the best I've ever worked with, very professional. I've referred several friends for jobs at McKesson and I would reccomend working here. 

I won't speak on the management at this specific location considering most other negative reviews already have. The work environment within the company itself is setup to create stressful situations. There's little organization and communication between different shifts. Every shift becomes overwhelmed and there's little support or safety nets for employees that have mental health issues. This employer claims to care about your personal well being but at the end of the day all you are to them is just a number. A tip I could suggest to any current employee reading this review: GET A UNION. You have no job security at McKesson Trenton. They will terminate you without cause because they have poor communication skills. For any people interested in working at this location: don't the money (that isn't even really competitive for the area anymore) is not worth the stress that this place causes.
