Medieval Times

A typical day started with washing the horses. This involved getting them out of their stalls and then hosing and scrubbing them in croups with other knights in training. There would generally then be some training i.e. weapons practice, horse riding practice, or other tasks for general upkeep of the castle and equipment. The knights in training would participate in the shows, as 'squires' to the 'knights', for whom we brought lances, handed out weapons, took horses away and a variety of other tasks. I learned a great many things, some about myself, learned a lot about fitness and how to keep a good workout routine, learned how to ride a horse and polish armour etc. Management had some issues, but were generally accommodating and approachable. My co-workers were great, it was a kind of brotherhood among the knights and squires. The hardest part of the job was the intensity, it took a toll on the body. It was a highly entertaining job.

Very routine job. Each position is very well delineated and you will be treated as if it's your first day, every day, for the length of your tenure in this corporate abattoir. The product offered is incredible, and the show is wonderful. Management does not care whatsoever about anyone underneath them. I mean this on all levels of a multinational corporation, so much so that middle management is treated like children by upper management, who are in turn treated as such by ownership. The result is a jarringly removed management style that doesn't respect employees nor the state of the ground floor business that's making all the money. In spite of this, it takes a certain (very fine) quality of person to respect themselves and operate professionally while wearing tights/corsets and calling people m'lord and m'lady. These people are the one saving grace

To start the day, I would attend the stables and wash all the horses with other squires. Then we would prepare and equipped them for the show by dressing them in their uniform and necessary gear . After that was taken care of, all the actors/performers would prepare themselves and get dressed for the show. The show was 2 hours long and always flew by. Lots of hard work, but a lot of fun.

The hardest part of the job was dealing with injuries while being physically exhausted during the week. Long hours and very physically demanding. 

Co-workers were all great. As a matter of fact, I got along very well with everyone. We were all very helpful with one another, which made the days much easier.

Most enjoyable part of the job was simply being able to perform in front of a live audience. An amazing feeling, and experience.

As Event Staff I would turn on the power to the Castle in the morning and through out the day maintain/attend to any problems and or questions regarding the work place. A lot of it was customer service and maintaining a safe work environment for our guests. I also did a bit of maintenance work, fixing stairs, lights building cabinets cubicle work spaces As a Squire it was my job to make sure the horses were ready for the show and to make sure everything was set up for the Tournament. I bathed and dressed the horses and mucked their stalls. I set up the Games in the arena while the show was going on for the Knights Of The Realm. The hardest part of being a squire was definitely the physical endurance, to become a squire it was mandatory for you to take a fitness test before being accepted

As a server, medieval times is a fine place to work, although some may find the demands of the job challenging. Overall the job is fun and satisfying, giving you the opportunity to entertain your guests and help give them a satisfying experience in exchange for tips. It can be fulfilling to know that you personally made your guest's night. However, as a tourist attraction, everything at Medieval times from the drinks to the gift shop souvenirs (which can often be found at the dollar store) are marked up by a huge margin, and so by the end of the show when it's time for servers to ask for their gratuity, some guests can be fully spent and don't have much to give. Despite this, servers are paid minimum wage despite their job being substantially more demanding than those in the photo or gift shop departments, who get paid the same amount.

Corporate and most department managers are disrespectful apart from the event staff manager at the time and ticket sales.
The staff were hard working and friendly in spite of the fact the managers treated them like dirt. The work is hard physically and disorganised.
Event staff are basically the slaves of the arena where you are paid minimum wage to be a bouncer, cleaner, concierge, educator, tour guide, child and drunk wrangler. The lack of respect is disgusting. Don't work there if you don't like seeing animals being abused.
Overall nice staff but horrible bosses!

I worked with this company for more than 6 years and loved every second of it.  They care about their employees and take the time to learn your name and spend time and money trying to make you better every day.  I would recommend working here to any one who loves to work hard and love what they do every day.  The hours are long but when you are doing what you love they just fly by and you can't wait for tomorrow to begin so that you get back in the saddle and do it again!

I love going to Medieval Times and to this day, I will still go once a year. Working here I met a lot of amazing coworkers. The work life though was not enjoyable. We had to work every shift on weekends, no exceptions (Friday evening, Saturday all day, and Sunday afternoon). It makes it challenging to have a social life outside of work when all your friends and family work 9-5 weekdays. We were not technically allowed to accept tips either as a gift shop or photo employee. You had to hide them from management. A toxic environment. 

If you are comfortable with caring an obsessive amount of food and drinks (minimum of five pitchers) over and over again this job is for you! You will never meet staff as awesome and kind as these fellow workers but personally it wasn't worth the physical labour/wench calling and personal injuries. Plus side: fast way to make money (if your guest remember to tip you, most of the time they dont :c)
