I worked at meet as a line cook, assistant kitchen manager, and kitchen manager.  I enjoyed all my roles in this restaurant.  The company is LGBTTTQQIAA++ friendly.  Helped individuals grow within the company.  They have work events like picnics, work prom, & work parties.  A typical day at work is setting up your line for service and the rest of the day goes by pretty fast until you are finished.  The most enjoyable part of the job is spending it with amazing people that share similar values and are very accepting of everyone.  The hardest part of the job as a manager is finding work-life balance as it's such a busy restaurant and there are times when it demanded more of your time but all is worth it because staff was generally happy and the customers kept coming back.  I would work for MeeT Restaurant again if i was in the city.

I worked there for 4 months in 2020. Most of my coworkers were quite friendly and the manager let me park my car in the restaurant’s reserved underground parking spot which was thoughtful as I lived a bit far away and was often closing the restaurant.

It’s true they’re very flexible and lenient with the schedule but it meant sometimes staff wouldn’t show up for a shift unexpectedly and we would have no extra help as the kitchen manager at the time was quite lazy. Often if I opened the restaurant with the kitchen manager I would be alone in the kitchen for most of the day.

It seemed that management was constantly turning over in the 4 months I was there. Could be different now.

They’re generous with employee discounts. I got a free meal every shift which I think is rare to come by these days.

Owners are terrible! They don’t care about their employees one bit, the culture is awful here as well! Owners are spending money are ridiculous things and the employees have to suffer for those decisions. They hire a bunch of people then don’t give them any hours or fire them after a week. Mangers are not any better then owners either… there was one great AKM but he quit because of how awful it is to work here but mangers are lazy, unreliable and judgmental! Just cause your vegan doesn’t mean you’re better then everyone else. There are so many other things i could expose but i have a life to live… Overall this is not a business anyone should be supporting and I would not be surprised if it closes down due to no more money left. 

Other employees were nice but the management was not strong and wouldn't stand up for the employees when valid concerns were raised to owners. Shifts were either slammed busy or dead and you got sent home early, so unpredictable how many hours per week you would get. Also very unclear communication from management about when you could take a break, its up to a manager to know when employees started their shift, amd when they are due a proper break with food and who can cover for their section etc- it's not the employees responsibility to guess and ask when they can take a break. Added a star because at least you got a free meal every shift and the food is generally good.

Everyone is very kind and fake nice, but they use a tip pool system... because of this you can sell $3000.00 in sales but make $100 in tips and that's only because they give all the tips to the kitchen to compensate for the fact that they pay them minimum wage. The owners are so greedy that they will take YOUR earned money to pay the kitchen staff. I'm not talking like 2% tip out, they take somewhere between 30%-50% of the FOH tips for the day to pay the kitchen. They also give absolutely no break down when asked about it.  Stay far away if you are looking to make any money. 

This company had great potential but became penny pinchers at the cost of their staff. Expect to frequently be working alone, making all your own drinks, doing the expediting, answering the phones, seating, etc,etc. EVERYTHING. Meanwhile your manager who’s supposed to be there to assist you is no where to be found because they’re attending yet another virtual manager meeting. 
Tip pooling is great but not here. %33-%40 on average is tipped out to BoH as well as salary managers. You’ll make much more $ elsewhere. 
Staff have been leaving MeeT locations in droves because of this.

Servers Bartend, Serve and host, while Chefs work the job of 2 people and Dish wash at the end of the night so they don’t have to hire these positions. They consistently try to lower the “man hours” and don’t prioritize staff and their well being. Even fired someone for having a panic attack. When problems were brought to the owners backed by half the staff, they claimed that staff were the problem and that they were “disappointed” in those who brought the issues to light. I’d love to see those employee turnover rates:)

I did not feel as though I was respected as an employee nor did I feel that I received the training I needed to be successful in my job. Communication was unfortunately not effective and work/life balance was not respected. Overall I feel as though management could do better in providing an environment where staff feels supported and prepared to complete the tasks needed to do the job. Also, the management could improve by implementing a training program prior to hiring new employees. 

If i were you guys i would stay far away from this place, it is not as inclusive as they say they are, when i was working no one would ever talk to me and they would always also talk in there own langauge never in english. The training was horrible, never got shown how to do anything right, prob the worst training experience i ever had. The only good thing i would say is you get a free staff meal when you work, other than that worst place i have ever worked.

Getting overwhelmed when it gets busy

Everyone is nice and helpful for the most part. It’s a pretty chill environment.

Constantly working, even when it’s slow you will find some work to do or have your bosses give you something to do.
