Management looks out for number 1, and it's not you. If you are prepared to endure frequent back-stabbing, unethical behavior and high stress, for a slightly above average salary then Methanex is a great place to work.

Performance reviews although completed are pre-determined and are not based on actual outcomes by the employees but are political and support the toxic management favourites.

Incidents are often looked at as a chance to find fault and let the "bad actor" go, while failing to recognize the actual deep rooted cause of the incident. As it is often management covering-up their backs and making sure they look pristine.

The organization will wear you down, make you question your own worth, demoralizing your own integrity.  But you'll stay because it's a good paying job with great benefits.  And who knows maybe one day the culture will miraculously change.  

The Management team both locally and globally need a re-calibration and should prioritize living by their "motto" of TRUST, RESPECT, INTERGRITY and PROFESSIONALISM

I am thoroughly impressed with Methanex as an organization. The culture in our office is great, everyone is friendly and the company makes genuine effort to ensure employees are able to get to know each other through numerous corporate events. Compared to previous employers, Methanex is by far an employer of choice for me. I would recommend anyone thinking of applying for a position definately does so, you will not be disappointed.

Well, I worked at Methanex for 17 years. The community of Kitimat, BC was incredible. A great community to raise a family(which my wife and I did). Many outdoor activities available there.
Methanex Kitimat was a smaller, yet world class operation. My co-workers were awesome, the pay was very good.
The ability to learn the whole process from utilities(river water, railcar/shipping/wharf division), process areas, panel operations, fire team, training junior personnel, procedure writing, etc..

Unfortunately, the bad part was Methanex ceasing operation in Kitimat and my wife and I having to move on(which has turned out to be a very good thing also though).

Great place to work!  Enjoyed the people and the culture like it was extended family!  Together they pushed and pulled each of us upward yet the culture demanding excellence on and off the job.
Training was great, work was made safe, evaluations by pier group taught us to know and learn our fields well then to train the new guys.  Cross training and (best of all) there was no need for a union.

Too bad the plant was closed

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great group of people to work with who are professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. 
One of the best safety cultures I've had the pleasure of being a part of.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Honestly, there was very little stress encountered. Everyone went out of their way to communicate clearly, concisely, and provide assistance when needed.

On a rotating shift schedule, I controlled the operation of a 1400 tonne/day methanol production facility. There are new challenges every day which kept it exciting. The management and workplace culture left something to be desired in my opinion, which was the hardest part of the job. The most enjoyable part of the job was working alongside some great people.

Methanex team was awesome to work in. Everyone was committed to the company. Unfortunately, I was only on term contracts, but I thought that the culture was amazing. Responsible Care was a first and foremost priority. They genuinely care about their employees worldwide.

Management was supportive and encouraged growth and development in my career.

Quarterly lunches had the CEO reviewing with all staff the financials and forecasst for the company.

Monthly or every other month Employee social club events

Environment was pleasant to work in, beautiful office at Waterfront Centre.

Managment belittles and devalues employees, as long as you fall in line and agree with managment your can advance.  There is limited saftey standards and policies.  The workers are not protected and bullied by manamgment or fired.  They dont  care about work life balance for shift workers but office administrators get time off for yoga.

Excellent company to work for - highly recommended. The organization is highly matrixed and relies on teams to accomplish the development, and implementation of programs. There are 6 Methanex methanol manufacturing locations in the world: Canada, Chile, Egypt, New Zealand, Trinidad, USA.
