I have worked with the company for over a year and have zero complaints. I've read the reviews on here, and know some of the past staff who have posted, and they are just upset because they got fired for not doing their jobs, or calling in sick all the time. Sure the job can be stressful, its mental health. There has been a turnover in management and I personally have found them to be great! The clients are amazing. The supervisor PC for the home I work at is so supportive, kind, funny and has a pure heart. She is always happy when she comes to see us. If we are outside playing games or sports, she puts down her things and joins in. She compliments the staff and gives her appreciation for us almost every time she leaves. Our supervisor PC also loves her job, I never hear any complaints about the upper management, she adores them, and we've had no issues with them so I was confused by the negative reviews.  The home is busy, but is fun and enjoyable. The staff are friendly, although you can get the odd agency staff covering that is not always great to work with, but that's how things go. 
There are healthy meals prepared everyday, home is clean and tidy, Lysol and proper PPE is dropped off for us regularly. I don't have any complaints. I'm happy to have this job and grateful for the support and appreciation given by my supervisor. 

It has been quite some time since I worked for the company, it would appear not much has changed there. 

There has been a lot of focus on toxicity in workplaces, and when you have toxic people in management/ownership positions, that toxicity will trickle down.

My experience there, with those toxic people, showed there were 3 ways to go as a manager under them. You can leave, you can remain silent or you can enable the behaviour; mainly out of self-preservation. 

Have these words in your mind if you choose to work with them, rather than learning it the hard way. This is at the very core of the toxicity there. 

That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, it's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it.  And if I did, you deserved it. 


8:30-4:30: review messages & pager calls , setting up priorities for the day , checking in with houses , admin work . I believed invaluable skills of how to be a good supervisor and to get along and compromise with staff under me , building rapport and Trust and with participants. Very supportive environment . Wonderful and compassionate managers and voworkers.  Hardest part of the job was trying to stay on top all of all the admin work and given like 9 core competencies to complete within a deadline - trying to find the time to do so. Most enjoyable was making a difference in the lives of participants I served. A very supportive and compassionate management and coworker team as a soh supervisor . I regret resigning here . It was very meaningful work.

Supporting and engaging with those you care for.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No support from program coordinator or any management. No proper orientation. Staffing levels so low you have to work 24hr shifts when someone calls in sick or they have no coverage. Agency staffing is not trained in most basic of tasks.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful, busy, heartbreaking. Due to such low staffing you can go entire shifts with no communication from the agency staffing. They don't speak to or engage with the very people were supporting

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
If working with agency staff you will be doing all of the work (medications, meals, personal care, and cleaning). Even with instruction they aren't skilled to help

 MCL's leadership is messy and toxic. They have management who will never take accountability for their actions or help you. They will place blame when something happens that could have been avoided if they had listened to their employee's. Some staff in the homes are not a good fit for the home and are not good to the residents in the home but management passively slaps them on the wrist. 
The higher ups will fire anyone who stands up for themselves and instills fear in the other employees; jobs are hard to find so they take it. 
They have a nice slogan of diversity and inclusion but do not practice it (unless of course it's in front of someone important, have to keep up with appearences) . 
They change the job description often. 


Management tactics include bullying, degrading and verbally abusing employees, forcing employees to return from work injuries early, and not once listening to employees claims about safety in the workplace.  One specific house coordinator is clueless and takes their frustrations out on new employees by screaming at them and insulting them.    I do not recommend this company.  The management is bitter due to the employees becoming unionized, and the pay raises that followed.  All of the job postings from this company are for a reason!!  They have a high turnover rate because they treat staff like garbage, despite the impression they give in the initial hiring process.   Take the time and find a better company to work for.  Save yourself the grief and frustration.

The work environment at Metro Community Living is incredibly positive and welcoming, especially when you are just joining the team.  From day one, everyone has been supportive, friendly, and eager to help you learn, which makes it easy to feel comfortable and included right away.
Working here is also very rewarding, as you can clearly see the direct impact you are able to make in the lives of the individuals you support.  Being part of a team that truly values person-centered support and meaningful programming makes the work feel purposeful every single day.
Overall, Metro Community Living is a fantastic place to work, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a supportive, engaging, and impactful role in the community living sector.

Managers have no eyes on what is going on with their employees or the homes they run. 

My role was Program Coordinator and this is not at all what the job is. There is a lot of admin work and don't provide a proper workspace. 

Although my role was not unionized after a few month there the role changed and P.C's would act in home managers and be expected to do work from the kitchen tables of small option homes.  

With no additional training to work hands-on in the small options homes. A coworker was attached and has long-term health concerns .Soon after the attack that employee was let go. 

At first, we were asked to work from our car although this is a major conviction on one driver's record. 



Really happy with the job. PC is so friendly and really cares for staff and clients always giving her appreciation for all we do for our 2 clients. One of the clients often has outbursts and is hard to talk to at times. Our supervisor has a calming affect on him, she gets him laughing and often has helped us during her time off. 
The days are long , but the pay isn’t bad if you have a FT position and you will always feel appreciated Healthy meals for the clients and clean nice apartments. We only see our pc but the people in the office seem nice the owner is very careing and our pc talks very highly of her. It’s a great place to put your loved one with special care needed. 

Although I have left early this month (nothing to do with the company)  I wanted to say this job is so rewarding. Knowing that you are there helping those who need us the most. These last two years with covid have been a challenge but all companies are going through it. We all banded together and helped where needed to be sure all clients are cared for. The hours are great. Management is there when you need them. I see a lot of bad reviews but I feel it’s because they left on bad terms of their own and had nothing to do with the company. I suggest everyone to apply to see for yourself how great it it.
