I worked as a part time employee. they give less time to work an assignment with a messed up vocolet system. Due to unions, workers feel entitled to everything. Entitled to cafeteria tables, having "assigned" machines to their name only etc. too much swearing and coarse languages. Work life; As an order picker, they give you an assignment order with an expected time to complete it (If you take loner, it drops your average percentage), send you to an aisle to start picking, aisle is congested due to other pickers, having no where to go this delays your assigned time which eventually drops down your percentage. And get this, no down-time for congestion (Down-time is when management gives you some extra time for lost time) 

Management needs to change. They hire a lot inexperienced supervisor that’s don’t understand the system and don’t have manners. The company is great to work you can grow within the company as well. The only issues with this company in management is they communicate and work together and encourage employees the company will run better. Another things lifting over your head will cause alot of injury. A lot people get injured because the rush them to get percentage with a system that doesn’t work. 400 mil for an automated that doesn’t work. I hope all the warehouses company change management because is the worst… 

Great place to work for persons who like a fast pace environment. Even with overtime hours you can have lots of time for family and hobbies. Sorry i peronally could not secure a permanent position but i look forward to working there again. There logistic teem has put together a well coordinated program that gets the job done in a timely manner. The selectors are the most helpful set of guys and girls i have ever had the pleasure of working with. Superviser are simple amaising going above and beyong their duty to resolve issues and concerns of any employee.

The task and role is back breaking if you use the wrong body posture in picking up items and the target time for accomplishing each task can only be achieved if you work like a robot and been powered by external body cells and not the internal body organs.

The whole strict standards and the Alarm ringing at different interval messes with your mind making you feel like you are either in a military camp or isolation centre.

Definitely not a place if you value your mental health very well.

At Metro i learned how to successfully meet deadlines on time. the mangers were amazing and really nice and easy to talk to. there were many nice hard working people.a typcial day would be busy and very fast paced because everyone would be in a rush trying to complete their orders on time, each order had to be done within a certain amount of time or you would be lowering your percentage, you had to maintain a 95% or higher every day. i think my most enjoyable part about the job was that you got to meet so many nice and kind people.

i would enter the warehouse where i would start up a walkie machine, a forklift looking machine, and pick up two skids. after this i would drive around the warehouse and pick up appropriate boxes that i have marked for delivery, wrap them up, and drop them off at a desired location.

I have learned a variety of management process as well as experienced working with a union work force. Great hours and overtime possibilities. Lots of inventory readjusting and counts. Management doesn't come down hard on you but is still visible within the workplace.

An ecliptic mix of personalities among the staff and management. There is opportunity to work together and draw from the experiences and strengths from the individuals within the team to achieve and surpass production / customer service goals. 

As with all businesses, however, there is also room for improvement

Responsible for driving a Pallet jack with roughly a 1000 pounds of merchandise
Loading pallets with heavy material for grocery store
Organizing tall and heavy loads of product adequately (approximately 5-8 feet tall) and docking at loading stations 
Early morning shifts Friday – Monday

At this position I was required to fulfill orders and load trucks to distribute goods  to Metro locations in Ottawa and the surrounding area. The workplace environment was positive and encouraging to complete tasks efficiently and to the best of my abilities.
