A significant amount of the business provided by Metro is to a garbage disposal company. Even though the work can be unsanitary at times, the employer does not acknowledge the associated workplace hazards nor do they provide any incentive to complete this potentially unhealthy work. 
 
Throughout the work day employees are not allowed to take breaks unless they smoke cigarettes. A smoke break is acceptable to management, but any other break is not. 
 
Employees are expected to work on all statutory holidays as garbage trucks are still running. During the first year, some employees are told that they have no entitlement to any time off or holidays. However, the supervisors and managers favour certain employees over others. Those employees who are favoured may not be required to work statutory holidays and are allowed to take time off throughout their first year with the company, creating animosity between employees. 
 
Many employees are frequently not paid the full amount they are entitled to at each pay period based on number of hours worked. Employees must confront management often to ensure they are compensated for their time appropriately. 
 
In addition to all of the above issues, the shop is an overall unsafe place to work. The shop floors are uneven, the proper tools are not available and the equipment that is provided is not maintained appropriately.

Metro Truck Group is a great place to work. Management cares about everyones needs and concerns. They take the time and effort to make sure the location is properly equipped with tools and proper equipment. Whenever the we bring forward any issues, management takes care of it in a timely manner.

Wage, Benefits and boot & tool allowances are industry standards. The dealership is very clean and well maintained. Metro provides the best dealer/corporate training in the industy. All daimler training is provided in house. 

Overall, I highly recommned working at Metro. You can feel that management cares about every employee. It is not just a place to work, its a place you can call home and you are proud to tell people that. The best part of Metro is the overall group of employees. It is eveident that why Metro is a leader in the industry and region. I surrounded with some of the best Techs, Parts & sales people in the industry. 

My experience with the Metro Truck Group over the past three years has been largely positive, though there are a few aspects that could be improved. 

One of the standout qualities of Metro Truck is its commitment to employee development. They offer opportunities for advancement, put the work in and trust me you’ll see the reward. The crew here is fantastic, truly great people to work alongside. 

Communication within the organization could be more streamlined. Information seems to get lost between departments, and the different locations. 

No workplace is perfect, but I’ve always found leadership is approachable and I’ve never felt hesitant to reach out to my supervisors or managers with questions or concerns. Overall, it’s a pretty great place to not only start a career in the industry but to learn and grow and progress.


Overall I enjoy working for Metro, I can tell you that the people here are the best. Its busy so no real slow days, which is great.

There is a lack of HR, you are expected to talk to sr management to have issues handled.... they try hard to provide solutions but they are already so busy, you could end up talking to 2 or 3 different people before getting anywhere. Also the vacation time is dated.... 2 weeks until you reach the 5yr then up to 3 weeks, and no paid sick days... which means people come to work sick... 

Ive gained lots of experience here and the events are fun, lots of laughs. But as Metro gets bigger... they need to re-think some of the procedures, and get up to date to improve the employee experience and culture.

Metro truck group has grown into one of the top truck dealerships in ontario and as a current employee, it shows. I have been working as a technician my entire life, and over the last twenty years I have experianced multiple shops, and dealerships. Metro truck group is one of the best companies I have ever worked for. They provide a solid foundation as far as work/life balance, an endless amount of work coming through the door, and a huge potential for growth within the company. Metro truck group recognizes the hard work by every employee, and will pay you accordingly to how much you produce. If you are looking for somewhere to build your career, I highly suggest considering a job with metro truck group!

I have been a Metro Truck Group employee for over 15 years. Metro is a great overall place to work. It is a Family owned business that still treats all employees as a part of the family. Over the years many employees have moved into different parts, service and sales roles. This is achieved by putting in hard work and effort, which is always recognized. Management is always approachable and eager to work with employees needs and concerns. Metro has grown from a small Dealership & Bodyshop to 10 locations across Ontario. This cannot have been achieved without a great workforce, great workplace environment and supportive management. I am proud to say I am an employee of the Metro Truck Group.


Metro Freightliner is fast paced company that has tons of room for movement and the ability to expand your career. Metro has state of the art training facilities and abilities that no other trucking company in Canada can provide.  They are always willing to work with young apprentices and help them in their journey. The management works well and effectively at helping their employees be heard. They have quarterly meeting in which everyone meets up and discusses concerns and the management works on solving these concerns in a fast and aptly manner. Overall a very fine establishment, that looks out for its employees

i normally have never had a bad experiance with any management what i have worked for how ever when you injure your self at work you should not get yell and screamed ( including cuss words) at as well as have your job threaten multiple times for informing your manager what the ER doctor has unstracked you to take time off work as you also have a doctors note stating the doctors orders. Theses managers are also not your typical service or parts manager these are the higher up managers as well as there heath and safety representative. and may i add the injury was do to falling down stair that did not have a railing and an open wall.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Not much some new faces you meet but a lot of miserable people who will throw you under the bus. Management doesn’t see what you put in   Hard to move ahead they advance the wrong people 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They are never happy with your performance so they don’t have to give you a raise

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not that great most pretend to be nice and then turn on you to better themselves 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start 07:00 so your duties and cut out at 16:00.

they are profit first and above anything else. management only cares about some of the staff. building poorly cleaned and shop equipment never put away u have to look for almost every tool shop supply and they are always dirty. to many angry people work there. if they find someone they like better they replace very quickly. if some one uses all the oil out of a drum they put it back empty. in short employees do not clean up after them self and do not care. management only cares about how much money they can make.
