What is the best part of working at the company?
One of the standout aspects of Microserve is its exceptional employees. Every staff member, regardless of their position, exemplifies professionalism and friendliness. Spending eight hours a day at work is much more fulfilling and enjoyable when you are surrounded by like-minded individuals who share your values and work ethic. My time at Microserve was truly rewarding, and I genuinely appreciated the positive and collaborative atmosphere each day.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Balancing the diverse demands of various clients, meeting tight deadlines, and handling unexpected technical issues can be challenging. Additionally, staying updated with rapidly evolving technology trends and maintaining a high level of service quality adds to the intensity of the work. However, the supportive and professional atmosphere at Microserve helps mitigate these stresses, making it a rewarding experience overall.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Professionalism, friendliness, collaboration, supportive atmosphere, continuous learning and work-life balance. Overall, the culture at Microserve is one of mutual respect, continuous improvement, and shared success, making it a positive and engaging place to work.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My day begins with a morning coffee as I check emails that came in late last night or early morning from the East Coast. I review and prioritize responses, confirming all my daily meetings and their scheduled times. This is followed by a stand-up meeting with coworkers.

As I sip my second cup of coffee, I double-check the Help Desk tickets and prepare updates for my clients. The next couple of hours are dedicated to monitoring and updating projects and initiatives, or attending meetings with stakeholders.

After lunch, I set aside focus time to write proposals, SOWs, update invoicing, and communicate with vendors. I often visit customers during this time as well.

Before wrapping up the day, I plan my next day's meetings and review the SLA status of ongoing work, both operational and project-related. If possible, I like to take a moment to have coffee with a technician or two, thanking them for their diligent work.

A typical day at Microserve started at 8:30 in the morning at various government offices throughout the Province of British Columbia. I was responsible for meeting with the officer manager to discuss the schedule for the hardware installations of the day. Special requests were also discussed and complied with during the process. After this meeting I would sign-in with headquarters to let them know we would be starting the installation process. Once this was done the computer technicians would begin to install the computer hardware for the government office employee's. The hardware would typically take a full day depending on how large the job was. At the end of the day I was responsible for recording, destroying confidential information (contained on the harddrives) and shipping out government computers with their destroyed harddrives. Since this position required being able to travel I was also responsible to coordinating travel logistics for my team throughout the province. This included financing, rental cars and hotels.

My co-workers were a joy to work with. I enjoyed the team work involved with traveling, completing a work task and then returning home or continuing on to the next town to complete more assigned tasks. Management was great because we were in constant communication. Infact I learned how important communication with management is through working with Microserve. For example if there was an issue of any kind I was encouraged to call management to discuss my decision of what would be done to remedy the issue.

There were of course some challenges traveling with a group for an extended period of time. Sometimes people would get homesick and this would, at times, lead to some resigning. It was a challenge to find replacements from Victoria while out in a small town in the middle of British Columbia. Although with this being said I really did enjoy the various challenges that came up along the way.

Working at Microserve was fantastic. I learned a lot that I have brought with me in various other life scenarios both in and out of the worksite.

A general day would consist of Picking up Hardware equipment, meeting staff with schedule of the days work ie computer installations/troubleshooting, site details with locations/contacts and any additional tasks.

On arriving on site i am responsible for meeting with site contact and briefing them on the job in hand and creating a work plan which can work well with the current staff. My team will then deployment new computers, adding software, connecting any peripheral devices and making sure client is happy when the job is complete. Most days we will have special requests to add Printers, extra Monitors, network config and training for the user.

I was hired ad hardware technician and was promoted to a Team Lead withing 5 months. I enjoyed working with some great all rounded working colleagues and learned alot in my experience.

Microserve is an excellent company for anyone looking to kick-start their career in the IT industry. As one of Canada’s leading IT solutions providers, it offers valuable hands-on experience, especially for new graduates or those transitioning into tech roles. The company culture is supportive and collaborative, with managers and senior staff willing to guide and mentor junior employees. Training is often available, and there are opportunities to work on a wide range of IT projects—providing exposure to different technologies, clients, and real-world scenarios.

The environment encourages learning and growth, and employees are recognized for their efforts. Although it can be fast-paced at times, the experience gained is incredibly rewarding. Whether you're starting on the help desk or in field services, Microserve provides a solid foundation to build your technical skills and grow your confidence in the industry.

Highly recommended for anyone starting out in IT!

I worked at Microserve and found the overall experience to be mixed. On the positive side, my coworkers were friendly, helpful, and generally supportive, which made day-to-day tasks more enjoyable. There was a decent sense of teamwork among the staff, and people were usually willing to help each other out when needed.

However, the same can’t be said for management. Communication from leadership was often poor, and there was a noticeable disconnect between management and frontline staff. Some team leads seemed either uninterested in supporting their teams or lacked the skills to do so effectively. Feedback was rarely constructive, and recognition for good work was minimal.

Compensation is another weak point. The pay is below industry standards for similar roles, and raises or advancement opportunities are limited. Overall, Microserve may be a decent place to start gaining experience, but it’s not ideal if you're looking for strong leadership or fair compensation.

Long story short, at first Microserve seemed shady. . 

I worked for them for two years and I would love to go back. The job I was doing was very elementary for what my skills and experience are. However, I had a ton of fun working there for the time I did. 

The Victoria Branch is by far the most fun and that is an very important part of what I seek in an employer and for what it seems like they thrive to find in their employees as well. 

There wasn't really a hardest part of my job other than having to drive everywhere. 

The most enjoyable part of the job was the freedom. How much they listened to me and my ideas.

I would love to go back to Microserve one day.

Don't let the small salary scare you away. if money is all you want out of life they YOU suck not the employer. They have more perks than they advertise. 

The pay was great for the amount of work that I actually did.

I just started a week ago (from this review) but already feel so welcomed and appreciated here. Microserve has a wonderful working environment and culture (at least in the Edmonton office), and the people are kind and friendly and you can tell enjoy working here. Even the regional director came over and introduced himself to me and is incredibly friendly and warm. Microserve employs a culture of "We all sweep floors," meaning no job is beneath anyone. And I have seen that played out among my management team several times already in my first week here. My salary is just barely below the average for a low-level tech, but still quite reasonable, especially considering the benefits are very good.

I recently started working at Microserve, and I has been very well welcomed. The Onboarding Training Program is Awesome!. In my experience, few companies have a similar program; the culture is very relaxed, respectful, efficient, collaborative. I am in a home office, and I have been efficient, supported, I am connected to my manager, my team, and the people I need. I have felt appreciated, and I enjoy cooperating with my team. I believe it is an excellent place to grow, to bring value, to enjoy.

It was a great place to work with great people and a very great environment. Typical day included sorting the mail that came in,answering a multi line switch board and patching thru to proper people, sorting the invoices and filing them accordingly. I would do a walk thru the office and order any necessary office and lunch room supplies. I learned how to file and categorize invoices, data entry how to handle mail couriers. My co-workers were all really friendly and offered advice and helpful tips all the time. My favorite part of my job was ordering supplies from staples and organizing the office space.

It can be a good place to work depending on what you do. The people that work there in general are cool. They use the program Connectwise for everything (entering hours, scheduling, expenses, etc...) which is extremely convoluted and frustrating. Things are disorganized a lot of the time. Every day is different. You have to problem solve and think on your feet.  Its challenging, but rewarding because you can be the hero. The clients are super high end (mostly government). Make sure you are prepared for fast balls and curve balls.
