Midwest is a great place to work.  Upper management have families and are caring, thinking individuals who do their best to accommodate staff with understanding. This leads to employees who feel pride in the company, take ownership of their roles, and work hard to make sure there is improvement and success. I work in accounts payable - a job that would otherwise be monotonous if not for a great team and a high level of autonomy. 

Pay is a little low for office staff like me, but with this economy I do understand.  There are bonuses and I'm pretty sure that in professional positions the wages are competitive. The benefits are good, with a health spending account to cover a few extras. 

 This is a young company that has had the odd growing pains, but is constantly learning and improving.  Staff is carefully chosen and we have had some dynamic, knowledgeable, and friendly new additions recently.  While no job is perfect and work is work, I feel very fortunate to work here and have no doubt that Midwest is going to grow and be more and more successful year after year.

This is a family run company where management try to take care of staff by providing snacks, coffee etc., but there is no job security. You never know what's going on as information changes daily. With no just cause, Managers can terminate any staff perceived to be a threat to the manager' own job especially if you're good at your job. Good workers are not encouraged as employee survival depends on who they know or if they're family.  If you are in management's good grace, then you'll enjoy working here for as long as possible. This company runs lean & subcontracts most of their work.

All in all over the years of working for Midwest I enjoyed my time working for them aside from dealing with the office in the past year I decided to take my skills somewhere else that didn’t require fighting with politics and made up rules every time support was required. Wish things were different but I just can’t deal with that anymore 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Every thing  the people are great to work with my forman ,straw, and crew are top shelf

Nothing at all was stressful the job is great 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Amazing.  I have never been on a crew with this many hard working people that care about the job great experience 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy busy busy just the way I like my work to be

They are are company that looks after themselves first and employees very last. Paid great but if anything happens it will always be the employees fault. They will never go to bat for you. I seen many people get fired and black listed there for not valid reasons. If you just care about getting paid this is the spot for you. The safe system there has become a joke over the last few years as well. They only want you to be safe when it works for them. 

Learned a lot about staking out pipeline right of ways, installing bridges where they're needed, and removing them when pipeline completion is done in that area, installing culvert piping in as needed, getting the opportunity to operate some forms of equipment out o the right of ways - e.i (side by sides, rock truck, to properly greasing equipment as required daily when the work day is done, or over.

What is the best part of working at the company?
As always the money is great , some of the people you meet are like family if ur lucky enough

Forman not having time to show you what needs to be done

Not bad just like any other company 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
12hr days work and stay busy as much as you can

They are a company that expect professionalism from all employees respect one another . Team spirit. They voice there appreciation daily .  Any issues are dealt with in a diplomatic manner and sexism isn’t anything that is permitted

Great company to work for .nothing bad to say can't wait to work with them again

Waiting for days off to b home with family
