Mills Office Productivity

I loved this job when I worked here. The hours were ideal and same with the days. The people I worked with directly were awesome and I am grateful for the friendships I formed with colleagues. The pay wasn't anything to call home about, but you wouldn't be struggling. You could not get ahead financially though. 

My time there resulted in several scares of lay offs due to COVID-19. The first occured when printing shut down completely. Other employees were nervous about their jobs, only to be met with the "you're fine, you're going to be ok". The second round came when COVID-19 first happened in March. More employees were let go. Again, we asked about job security. Management was not being told by the CEOs/higher ups the fate of the company. We were met with the same "oh, you guys are ok for now". What would have been appreciated is if management had been clear with us saying that they were also being kept in the dark, and it would be advisable to look for other work. A simple conversation about such would have lowered stress levels among employees. I did not like coming to work in limbo, unsure if I had a job to come back to. I brought up to a manager one day that I felt nervous about my job security, and was told "oh you're fine". I was let go the next day. 

If you do choose to work here, be advised that there is a complete lack of communication amongst management levels. I was only a warehouse associate, so I imagine at higher levels the division only gets worse. I do not see this company coming out ahead while COVID-19 happens. 

Firstly, I worked at Mills for a very short time, March to August, but in that time I saw the productivity of work coming to me to print drop from roughly 20 jobs per day to less than 3 per day. In the head office several high up key people left, including the HR Manager. And then the current Manager has created such a toxic environment that two people have left in the last week, staff tread on eggshells around them because they are concerned for their jobs and their consistently unpredictable behaviour. There was an attempt at an insincere apology to the staff, but it fell very flat after a few days things were back to normal. The Manager does not understand how to communicate to her staff and be a Manager. There are three people in business, Technicians, Managers and Entrepreneurs. They are a Technician and will never be a manager because they just don't get it. The work life balance is fine because the Manager demands you start at 8.30 and finish at 5 with a half hour for lunch at exactly 12.30.  There is zero room to improve because after basic training if you don't get it right first time you will not get trained again and you will get shut out of a piece of equipment permanently. I wish the best of luck to the next person to take on a position at that place. They are going to need it.

As a former delivery driver the job and what I do on a day to day basis, was very good, I was trusted to work alone and get my job done each day, it was very nice. The management, however, does not seem to know what they are doing if they are even around. When they are around they seem to ignore the drivers and warehouse employees, making it seem as we are not important. 

One part of my job was to deliver to their retail store each day, the management team at that store seemed to only care about herself and not at all about her employees, and verbally disrespected as well as was always very rude to me and the other drivers constantly. 

The best part of the job was the people I interacted within the warehouse, we all had very good working chemistry and the shipping and receiving people were often very nice and a joy to work with. 
 
Overall Mills Office Productivity was a good job to help build a routine and give a very steady work/life balance to their employees, but that is it. They are underpaid and under-appreciated for each job they do.

In the warehouse was fast paced environment and always kept me on my toes. In the retail store it was at times confusing and I was not given the proper training. It was stressful when I was alone in the print shop and a customer wanted me to help them with something I wasn't trained in.
I learned that I don't want to work for someone who doesn't make the time or effort to train their employees fully and who is rude to other managers at different locations and customers behind their backs.
The management is poor and could need lots of improvements.
The work culture was okay, I didn't know a whole lot about the company, I was never taught the background of Mills.
Hardest part was working with no directory and not having the proper training I needed to be a better worker.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the salary I was on.

Company fired me after a member of management asked me "how are things going" and I politely gave honest and constructive feedback. I had no prior disciplinary action, nearly impeccable attendance, and many other positive traits and skills to offer the company.

I guess honesty was not their best policy.

Wage does not Increase with cost of living. Company takes away from its employees. Lots of work and at times lots of overtime. Office furniture easy to put together but lots of heavy lifting and carrying up and down stairs

What is the best part of working at the company?
Management was pretty decent. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some of the employee politics - the Controller was not very professional.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Selling paper and paper accessories.

I believe that all people should be treated the same and as human not people you are trying to just create profits from,  From deliveries to purchasing and more everyone dept did not sync with each other

Memorable for the wrong reasons. Competitive environment.  They think your the only person in the world who has paper shavings from their sharpener . 

Family owned company with several members of the family working in-house. Great, loyal and hardworking people that have been there for a very long time.  A good place to work.
