Ministry of Environment

My duties were mainly secretary job, answer phone calls, organized all documents, order inventory requested by the officers; arranged meeting and taking minutes.  Input ticket fines into the court database; update to see if fines were paid.
The officers are all in uniform so I learned everything has to be in order.
It is a Government office so the structure and management are well organized. 
The hardest part of the job was my taking over of all the messes from the previous secretary, all documents were mixed up...............
The fun part is all the officers treated me very nice as I am the only woman in the office.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing,  I would never recommend my worst enemy to work there

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
My boss was ignorant and needless to say shouldn't be a manager

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Horrible they bring you in and get you to clean things up and then let you go because they can't accommodate your disability 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Horrible I left in tears everyday wanting to kill myself thanks to my manager

I applied as a university student and starting as a office assistant was the best decision I made working there. The staff were extremely supportive and gave me alot of freedom to do what I could do best at which was computer related things. The only reason why I could not stay was because it was a coop so I had to finish my term and go back to school. 

I worked as a coop student for a term in MOE. I didn't get to know my supervisor because he was in vacation when I started and after he didn't really try to reach out to me. I worked with another coworker, our job was filtering the water samples. I started on September and was busy. Come November, we basically came to the lab to read a book because we had no samples and no work to do.

I learned many things such as data entry, sorting through confidential files, the most enjoyable part about this job was that it was a team based work environment and many great people work there. I was lucky to have gotten this placement and have this experience working for government.

Easy going and sometimes stressful work environment. Basic equipment and materials were sometimes lacking. Frequent on boarding and training sessions for staff. Job security and very little employee turnover.

The Ministry of Environment was a great work environment, the people were amazing and the work was interesting. I was able to take on a lot of responsibility even though I was just a co-op student. Overall great experience !

Waste water treatment design and inspection. Solid waste disposal site inspections. Installation of ground water test wells at solid waste disposal sites. Soil, water and waste water sampling.
