Minto as a company seems to be amazing. They start their lowest paid employees at the minimum liveable wage (not minimum wage) of whatever city they are in. They value work life balance, have great rewards programs, and their benefits are amazing.

My experience with Minto was only unfortunate because of my manager. My manager was absolutely terrible, complete lack of accountability and follow through, and I was too new to want to rock the boat. 

I will be reapplying to Minto in the future under another office or manager, as they really take care of their employees and I adore the company culture and what it stands for. My advice before you join is to make sure you know your rights and your employer's responsibility for health and safety and training. My manager did not meet these standards, then blamed me entirely for the mess that lack of training created, and it just created an awful start that tainted my time at the company. 

However, people under other managers were absolutely thriving and loved their jobs. My job was great, my manager wasn't. I'm not sure what might have happened if I actually spoke up about the issues, but I get the feeling now (after leaving and speaking to other employees candidly) it would have been resolved had I done so. 



I worked on a contract for 4 months in the Payables department.
It is a very fast paced and demanding position.
Co-workers are helpful and ready to lend a hand if needed.

My overall impression is that although they may demand speed and accuracy, they are also approachable to suggestions and change.

Hardest part of the job was learning a new accounting system and payables requirements from the standpoint of Mnto.


I enjoyed the comradeship of the staff and the experience I gained using the new SAP systems in accounting.

This is an excellent starting job. If you are willing to work hard, both the supervisors and the Higher ups in the company take notice. In terms of future employment, if you would like to remain with the company they will usually hire you back, so work hard.
My typical day included sweeping, picking up garbage, weeding, cutting grass, painting, or any combination of what i just listed.
My Co workers were a mixed bag, you might nit get along with everyone but thats normal. There is no hardest part of the job if you work hard. The most enjoyable was the atmosphere.

Pros:

Cons:
Organizational structure is very top heavy
Many internal stakeholders makes it harder to get approval on projects
high work load
Salary wages are low for those that get promoted up the ranks

This position at Minto/Ottawa Ont. was a couple position with my wife, as she entered the job in the entry level of the business and was not able to grasp all that pertains to daily operations of property management. We were dismissed during our probation period.

Lesson learned.
 We are back in the G.T.A/ Toronto.
My love for Newfoundland brings me to send my C.V.in looking for a work camp position as per my skillset and transferable skills that I believe that will benefit your daily customer experience operations.

What an absolute abysmal company to work for. No room for growth, and I mean zero. Management positions opened, but one two occasions I seen them given to the child of someone in upper management, where they have no skill in the position and pin any problems on anyone below them. Expected to go above and beyond with low tier pay, long hours and terrible on call rotation.

Technicians avoid this trough at all cost.

Good work environment. Knowledgeable  management and co workers, cornthe vast majority, which is to be expected anywhere. Worked there 3 years, very busy, fast paced but well structured. Days are planned and as not to overload you. On call was 1 week every 4 weeks. Lots of opportunities for advencement and what i loved the most is most the management has worked their way from superintendent which makes working with them so much better since they actually know the job.

.  Would help out where I could in minor repairs and always there for my team. Was trying to get my work down but always getting called off my building to do other jobs around site always managed to have my work done by the end of the week. When the residents were smiling and complimenting on the job or helping them with something.

Great place to work in, won BOMA that year, a business in transition and an owner in departure, go Red Blacks! There was some churn due to an SAP transition and burn out

poor work experience. No respect for each other. Poor managers. this may be a company to make a career with back east but in Edmonton you need to obey no matter what and the property management is unproffessional
