Aweful work place. Filled with gossip, C.e.o is the biggest corrupt un holy human being I have ever met.
Aweful board members. Use to be Bible's for missions. Took Good out of what this place is.

An escape goat for power hungry people and bullies. Policies are made up and always change to benefit management and board members.

Mission gives NOTHING back to local communities.

They treat employees under managent like complete trash.

Pay sucks while managent and corporate syphon funds for the selves.

Millonaire CEO in a non profit organization. Corrupt!!!. Doesn't care about people other than keeping corporate away from the context of mission, and bringing in money.

They use and massivley abuse/ take advantage of volunteers to work for them for free, save cost on propper employees as a trade for terrible service, very poor day to day in stores. Lack of saftey is apparent in every store in Canada.

The well being of volunteers and employees is the ber looked for a dollar income.

Some of the most self centered controlling, eletist scum bags work I'm a so called " Christian" environment.  Very toxic inside this company.

Theft is a constant problem that corporate and managent refuse to do anything about. This is theft from customers but also widely from volunteers and employees.

Lots of mental abuse and management is always underqualified and generally lazy, in most stores.

Corporate separates from themselvers from mission as a whole and identifies as a corporate brand while stores are left to run under old, lame and controlling volunteers under a board that is classified as a private community.
Policies always change to protect these lowlife boards, many stores as witness have been involved in internal organized theft.

Security does not exist, from theft, assualt, to mental abuse, to bullying and extortion.
Rule/policy breaking for benefit.
CCTV cameras are only avaliable for benefit and are always manipulated.
Servers are never backed up so there ate daily cash mis counts, computer down time and out of date equipment.
Did gital security usually consists of low level personal wep/aep paddworfs at best if " 12345" can't be used for server/store security.


Mission is a terrible employer and is much more than bad, it's corrupt, abusive and un trustworthy.
Pay will always be low and under parts to modern standard.

There won't be help to find on any level, God has been taken out of this organization by choice of corporate and greedy evil people.

Hours are aweful, they pay contract flat rate, and make you work overtime with no benefit of more pay. They take advantage of employees and offer terrible benefits are a great cost

All asdpects if this business are a joke.
No one is qualified if they have substantial responsibility.

Treasures with zero accounting experience, expect money loss and miss calculation for daily profit and especially employee compensation.

Flat rate used to simplify math. No education needed to work in managent or corporate, yet the highest gruesome standards for day to day are held to leave were level employees and volunteers. 

Don't ever work here don't ever support them. CEO is a joke and corrupt, factual mentally disabled and under qualified people working I. High authority positions. Low pay. Lots of abuse. Where does the money really go?

Worked here for a few years. Not a bad job starting off, that’s of course until new management comes along and turns the place upside down and inside out. But before that, I was always being called in on my days off, getting hours cut from my paycheck, and never seeing one raise for the time I put in here. Cashiering is terrible as there is never enough people trained to use the registers, so there are lineups looking like a DMV. There are also corporate quotas for production staff that have exorbitantly high goals and always increasing overnight and are constantly enforced by management. Customers are always rude, certain seniors getting their hair in a knot because it isn’t “Seniors Day”. Or because there are no fitting rooms in store. No overtime even though I’ve put in 48+ hours here a week on many occasions. No benefits and no RRSP like other stores offer. Micromanagement galore and quite frankly, most of the team feel undervalued for the work they put in. They still have the nerve to ask customers to round up their purchases for “charity” even though their own workers are making minimum wage. The whole vibe and morale of the store is completely unmatched. We used to support the community and support causes for the greater good, now it’s all money money money. Overall, the lack of respect for employees’ and volunteers’ time and effort is disappointing to say the least. And the constant pressure to meet unreasonable demands without fair compensation creates a toxic work environment. The focus seems more on meeting corporate goals and profit margins than supporting the local community as well as the team that keeps the store running. If you’re considering working here, be prepared for long hours, low pay, and minimal appreciation from upper management. This job could be much better if management focused on valuing and investing in their staff instead of just squeezing more productivity out of them. Unfortunately, until these issues are addressed, I do not recommend working here. 

I had only been volunteering and would often switch between what I was doing depending on the amount of customers that day and the amount of other volunteers working. I was mainly on cash assist where I would wrap fragile items and bag everything as it was rung through. When cash wasn't busy I would go around finding empty hangers to bring to the back room as well as putting discarded clothing back on the correct rack. Sometimes a customer would inquire me about an item that didn't have a tag on it. I would take it to the back room where the ladies price the clothing and items, then return to the customer that had inquired about the item. 
I learned how to control my facial expressions when it came to a rude customer, and learned that a work environment is so much easier to talk to people in than a school environment.
The volunteer manager was nice, although I didn't see them very often as they weren't there very often. The store manager was very nice and it surprised me everytime they would remember my name.
The workplace culture was good, everyone very nice and helpful with showing me how to do things and what would make my jobs more efficient. Although I didn't chat much while I worked I would say that I had a good relationship with the others and I felt more comfortable there than I thought I would.
The hardest parts were definitely the rude customers, but like I said I learned how to hide my displeasure with them. It also got very frustrating that I was only volunteering while looking for a job so I wasn't getting paid, but it is what I had signed up for.
The most enjoyable parts were when customers would bring their children or grandchildren in with them. The kids were so adorable and sweet and I loved the smale on their face when they got to carry out their new toy or clothes.

Very clean, bright open space to work in. Staff is like family, friendly, helpful, fun team. The merchandise is top quality with great prices for a Thrift Store. The customers are mostly regulars that love to shop here (me too!)  The best store I've worked for as a cashier.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Long lineups, 2 cashiers only can be a challenge. The boss frequently moves merchandise around and that confuses regular customers and makes my job a little difficult to point out where items are moved to without notice. No bathrooms is a big part why customers don't stay.

There's something for everyone. Diversity is key to keep customers happy. We get compliments consistently and the prices are fair. However we could use more space at the back of the store for inventory. We are proud to say that we recycle unsellable items and accept most items.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
There's always something to do. I see alot of familiar faces who make me smile and occasionally chat and see how they're doing. We receive something new every day which is exciting. We have a good selection of Christian music to listen to when the internet doesn't cut out which is frequently, lol. We deliver alot of large items like furniture on a regular basis that we keep logged in a book. The store is really organized thanks to wonderful, hard working staff on the floor and behind the store. Keeping the store clean is priority and customers acknowledge it with compliments. There's always staff on the floor that are willing to help in any way. We as a store donate items to locals in need through organizations in the community.

The best part of working at Mission Thrift is knowing that you are giving back to the community and providing good quality merchandise at great prices.  Its like working with and for family for the greater good

Very difficult working with volunteers who are not as committed and dealing with customers who think the Mission gets everything for nothing with no concern for the costs of overhead, staffing, theft etc.

Apart from the location being too small it is a wonderful, statisfayng place to work

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Opening in the morning with a group for happy people just waiting to get together to provide the best service and atmosphere for those who donate and shop here.  Clean and organizing the work areas to make item easy to access.  Prepare items for Diabetis, Africa, Christophers Helping Hand etc. for pick up then opening the donation gates and greating each and every donor, unloading their donations and sorting and delivery of the items to the various departments for their care and attention, pricing and delivery to the store.

They expect a lot from some people and other people who kiss management behinds don’t have to do anything. The staff here are horrible. All they do is gossip. The volunteers are all nice. Just the staff are pretty much useless. Felt like I was in middle school again with all the gossip and jealousy. Management picks favourites and of course it is the ones who do no work. Says they are a Christian company but I didn’t feel welcomed. Staff are very rude to customers for simple questions. Cashiers are even worse to customers for simple questions. They are also very cheap. They only want volunteers there. And only hand out three month contracts. Some get their contracts extended but you have to be a gossipy hater and fit in with the clique there that don’t work. Their job is to suck up to managers. Really gossipy/hypocritical staff.

Extreme support and encouragement from employees/volunteers and employers/managers

Customers would be the only stressful part, as everyone is unpredictable. You never know who could walk in.

Very positive.
The location I worked at was always willing to help better employees, and help them grow. I enjoyed the opportunity to lead a team of volunteers and we all worked for each-other in a very cooperative manner. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I go into work, find out what needs to be done and do it. If I'm assigned to a task, I do that task. Very low-stress. Good sense of autonomy needed.

was pretty hands off and able to set my own hours, at least back when i was there. i worked there when the location was newly opened. its much bigger now

very christian and strict. there even a morning.. prayer? i think it was. i tended to come late so id miss it

come in an hour after opening, put on my apron and name tag, take the new clothes from the rack, organize them on the "floor" take my break after like an hour (cuz i was such a baby and it was my first job) and leave after no more than 4-5 hours. sometimes helping a customer but that was rare. i mostly zoned out

Paid employees are under a lot of pressure to complete more then possible amounts of work and treated unfairly

Anyone that “belongs” to their church family can have good paying full time positions and holidays and not even do their job.

Running around like a chicken with no head because too many “bosses” and no outlined tasks to follow. One will tell you one thing, the other will stop you from doing that thing. What’s expected from you is not expected from anyone else.

That you get work experience and make friend's while working

The culture is in a Christian prospected enticement. everybody try's to have a healthy friendly incitement for stuff volunteers and customers
