Mississauga Piano Studios

This company hires piano teachers with low experience, trains them, and is very enthusiastic. They support you and try to help you excel, but there are many cons. This review may sound extremely negative, but I still would highly recommend working here if you are an under-experienced piano player.

Although, they are under-staffed in their office, so sometimes they are unable to follow through with their intentions. They are also difficult to contact at times.

The fact that you are under-experienced is also taken advantage of, where they pay you low, but charge high (at my age, and my coworker's age, this was a high pay, but learning how much the students had to pay, and how much the company kept did not seem fair). In addition, since they hired youth with low-experience, they often hired teachers without screening if they are qualified. I know some teachers who never had to contact them in person, or prove their skills in piano, but were given students, which I do not find fair to their customers.

They give you students, and leave you the work to schedule, find a place to teach them (if it is your home, they do not cover for insurance, therefore you can be sued quite easily if anything happens to the student in your home), answer any questions, grade them, schedule exams, but they do not pay accordingly (unless you threaten to quit). The off-hours labour negated the benefits of the higher pay (comparing to minimum wage jobs).

Also, it is difficult to build up hours. After working there for almost 2 years, I was able to acquire 15 students, adding up to 7 and a half hours a week. So although the pay was higher than other jobs, the hours did not add up to much.

But looking at the job objectively, it was an enriching experience. I got to gain many connections, it helped me get other piano and teaching jobs, and I got to earn a higher pay than a minimum income job. Still much better than my previous minimum wage jobs.

Working at Mississauga Piano Studios (MPS), I've learned a lot with the students that I have. The staff and teachers are always friendly and will accommodate the necessities of both teachers, students and parents. Mississauga Piano Studio's has a very welcoming environment and the events held with the company create a very "work family" feeling.

I either go to the MPS studios or my students come to have in-home lessons. Some of the parents sit in with the lessons, majority of them do not. Most lessons only go for about 30 minutes so I do have quite a number of students. Dealing with so many kids and a lot of different personalities, I have to adapt to how I am going to teach them depending on their best learning style. Working at MPS and being a piano teacher, I've built up an immense amount of patience (especially dealing with children) and ways of dealing certain problematic situations and misunderstandings between the parents. For example, one of the students may not be practicing as much as they should, therefore not as much progress in the lesson occurs. With that being said, some parents do not like that, and so having to talk to parents that might feel they are unsatisfied has taught me a lot. In the end of situations like that they come to an understanding that their children need to practice in order to learn.

The hardest part of working at MPS is creating a schedule to fit between a teachers schedule and the parents/students schedules, and last minute rescheduling. The most enjoyable part of working at MPS is the experience you encounter while teaching some students and watching them grow, the seasonal concert's, and most definitely growing as a person by the new experiences every day with MPS.

As a teacher at Mississauga Piano Studios, I have attended several enriching seminars that have helped me grow both professionally and personally. Just yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend another insightful session.

Beyond professional development, what truly sets MPS apart is the deep sense of care and community fostered by our Director. When one of our beloved seven-year-old students tragically passed away in October 2023, our Director demonstrated immense compassion. We visited her together, and later, we attended her memorial service. It was a profound reminder that at MPS, we are more than just educators—we are a family that supports one another in times of joy and sorrow.

I am grateful to be part of a school that not only values musical excellence but also upholds genuine care and connection.

I’ve had a wonderful experience at this workplace, both as a student and now as a piano teacher. Being on both sides has given me a real appreciation for how supportive and well-run the environment is! The management team is genuinely kind, approachable, and always willing to help. I really enjoy all aspects of my role, especially the opportunity to continue growing and developing as a teacher. One of the things I value most is the flexibility, which makes it easy to balance work with other commitments. Overall, it’s been a very positive and rewarding experience, and I’m grateful to be part of such a welcoming community!

I have found the owner is truly generous, not just with funds, but in other aspects as well. In my four years here, I have seen this in many specific instances, but because they touch on something very personal, I cannot share the details here. 
When there has been a problem with any student, she always rushes to provide support, encouragement, and to provide a practical resolution. 
There have been times where she has been there for my extended family as well. Without any doubt whatsoever, I most highly    recommend MPS as a place where you will be accepted and supported. I look forward to many, many more years here.  


The owner is very friendly and vibrant and enjoys the business. It does not take very long to build up a decent-sized student base. Schedules are flexible and work around you. Since you communicate directly with families, alternate time arrangements for lessons can be made in necessary situations only. Fun teaching kids of different ages and getting to hear music for a few hours during shifts!

Great place to increase your piano learning experience, my manager was extremely kind and flexible. Learned how to plan lessons for each different student, and informing the guardians regarding the students progress. Was not able to talk to many coworkers during my shift but was able to meet them at a work party. Most enjoyable part of the job was seeing your students complete a song or a level perfectly and seeing their love for piano grow.

Through my years working and teaching at Mississauga piano studios not only I have I enhanced my skills as a pianist but I have truly been able to enjoy the pleasures of teaching others. I thank Mrs.Fong, along with MPS for creating such an inclusive environment that prompts professional growth. 

For what you're doing, you should be getting a much larger share of the cut ($40/hr charged to students but you only get paid $16). Management is kinda shady, it's not the most professional organization. But if you like kids and enjoy teaching it's a pleasant enough job.

The company is great! Mississauga Piano Studios has 2 great locations to work in Mississauga. They bring in a lot of customers/students. So for teachers you have many opportunities to teach students. They are very nice to teachers and they try their best to accommodate the teachers needs.
