Good working environment, experienced management and coworkers, good benefits, good work/life balance, growing company, opportunity for professional growth, top of the line products competes well in the marketplace. Employees are treated with respect. 

Employees are expected to be high performers.
The training is never ending but is good for high performers with a desire to learn. Training on existing products, training on products absorbed through acquisition, and training on various IT and networking technologies. But this is what happens with multiple products and aggressive product development. Seems like every time new upper management shuffles in there is a round restructuring.

Mitel has a great history but an uncertain future and anyone joining will need to keep the resume up to date. The quality of the individuals there is great and there is a great sense of team but the senior management has little regard for efforts when budget cuts come down - which they do on a regular (quarterly basis). The market segment is dominated by some very large competitors and there is very little room for Mitel as a niceh player. Internal processes and teams have been cut to skeleton levels and quality of services to employees to support doing good work is below minimal.

Company have seen a better days. High turnover. Low salaries (lower than average in industry). No defined software development process.

Middle management is mostly pushing, therefore constant scope creeps. People are different from department to department. Some teams look like retirement house. Some teams are really enjoyable to work with. However, overall atmosphere is quite depressing.

After working there for 2 years I found much better job.

The last 5 years at Mitel was like workfare, spending many hours doing very little productive because there was so little work in my field to go around.  I survived 5 rounds of layoffs.  I took a few computer science courses at night, but not enough to get a full computer science degree; Mitel is a software house too.
I registered with ITO 2.0 two years ago, but most of the jobs I don't qualify for.
Management and co-workers were a pleasure to work with.
The hardest part of the job was just keeping busy.
It's nice to see Mitel surviving the transition to IP based telephony.

Courses have to prep'd, modified and developed to meet changing requirements.
You have to relax the students then bring them to focus on the subject matter.
The other team members are available sometimes - should difficulties arise and you need to resolve something.
hardest part is being away from home and family for large amounts of time
Most enjoyable part is getting the students to acheive the tasks and feeling comfortable with the product

It has been forever since I received a decent raise that I would actually feel/see besides a few bucks on the paycheque.  Management acknowledges that I deserve to be paid more although HR thinks otherwise.  HR does not believe in promoting people, but rather looks at driving people out, with their lack of assistance when they are called upon and providing cookie cutter answers for many issues raised.

mitel has been business strategic with purchases, but lacks the ability to integrate and develop anymore

no resource management or accountability at all levels; hence delivery dates come and go
most managers rotate on their budget and bonuses instead of employee investment such as training; lynda.com is not training!

Be warned the future is not positive for this company. The past few years have been tough for the company and there is no growth and product direction is lacking. Management's response is always to cut costs and keep doing the same old things - internal support services are either non-existent or outsourced to poor providers. Predict it won't be around within 3-5 years.

Shift work in itself is challenging but allows more work to be done. Good place to learn and advance with technology. The management does not easily trust workers. However there are many great opportunities to help customers daily and very rewarding.
