Good entry level opportunity, its seldom you ever get exposure to so many different areas of HR so early on in your career (Health care setting, policies, hiring, union, investigations, WSIB, disciplinary actions, etc). You would do well to have a good command of either of the Chinese languages or to be open to the cultural influences at the workplace, its not a requirement to have but will definitely go a long way to have it. You will very quickly meet the famous local members of the community/radio station that your parents listen to, theres a small bragging right that is inherently coupled with the job if youre part of the SAT group. Mentorship within the department is superb, Youre asked to set goals from day 1 and checked-in with every few months to ensure youre achieving it.

Pay - relative to other non-profit charitable organizations, you really can't complain. Youre not here for the money, although they do offer Defined pension matching, which is the highest of any companies I have ever seen. So if youre looking to stay and retire comfortably, this is it.

Everyone at work feels like a part of a big family, you will often get asked if you've taken lunch yet, or buns/egg tarts/cake will be brought in by upper management/directors for everyone to have, the culture is very caring and inclusive, its always a good feeling to know your efforts translates directly to enriching the lifestyle of seniors/elderly.

There is a big emphasis on volunteering and looking out for other departments, be prepared to get involved on the occasional weekend as well as fundraisers/campaigns are a large part of non-profits and they work with a limited budget.

The supervisor's work instructions are not only unclear but also incorrect. Since all the work content lacks clear guidelines and explanations, you can only ask more senior colleagues. However, these senior colleagues are unwilling to teach new employees. When you ask them questions, they pretend not to hear. It’s only after you make a mistake that they complain directly to the manager.

When you finally decide to resign, the senior colleagues say that young people cannot endure hardships, lack responsibility, and leave after working for only a short time.

Lastly, you must complete your work according to the schedule arranged by the manager, but as a new colleague, it is absolutely impossible to finish on time. You have to use your meal breaks or short breaks, or even after work hours to complete it. But you should know that this is unpaid, as they pay according to the working hours on your shift schedule, not your actual working hours.

My workplace is a fun and positive environment where I work closely with children as a teacher’s assistant. Although the children can sometimes be loud and energetic, it creates a lively and engaging atmosphere that makes each day unique. My main responsibility is to support the teacher by helping students stay focused and encouraging them to listen carefully during lessons. I enjoy interacting with the children, guiding them when they need help, and contributing to a supportive learning environment. i would say working here is easy and at the same time hard for some reason. not all staff communicate in english and not really friendly.

i work nights, so id say its okay.

Was at Toronto downtown location for a short period. Got verbally abused by coworkers not just once but multiple times. Complaint to higher management with false accusations. Management never bothered to ask me about anything and just decided to sided with their employees and removed me without explanation nor notice. 
Not great for fresh graduates in healthcare because they have zero patience for teaching them and helping them to become a part of the team. 

Boring workplace. Night shifts are a pain, typically just respond to false alarms and patrolling. 
I learned the procedures of medical emergency, fire panel, etc
Workplace culture was okay, lots of Asians, mainly Cantonese and Mandarin workers since it's an living area for old Asian people.
Hardest part about the job was the terrible shifts, it was affecting my health. 
Most enjoyable part of the job would be being able to have time to do everything without having to be under a lot of stress unless emergencies happen.

It is good company to start with for fresh graduates. You get to learn what to do to please boss and get things done by meeting bare minimum requirements. For long term advancement, it is not a good place to stay. You are underpaid to do your work. Overtime is frequent and expected, and you don’t get paid for doing overtime (only with lieu hours). 

- As a new joiner, you never can finish tasks on time. However, by working in fast mode, you'll be able to complete your tasks and still have time for breaks.
- Information is not accurately and systematically organized, requiring staff to make manual adjustments.
- An unstable work schedule makes it difficult to predict days off.
- Overall residences and staff are nice.
