Typical day at work: Arrive early  to get settled in, I'm a registration clerk at Montfort Hospital, log into the system and register patients either at emergency, out patient clinics or for blood. A smile goes a long way, I believe it is important to make patients as conferrable as possible.
 
What I've learned: That this position takes a lot of patience and dedication. You are the first person that patients have contact with when coming into the hospital. People do not necessarily come into hospitals for good reasons, understanding and sympathy is a must in this line of work. At times it does get a little hectic, however I love helping people. 

Management: The management staff ensure that we have all the tools we need to provide excellence service. They are flexible with the schedule and when personal situations come up. They don't see you as a number, they treat every individual as a person. Respect goes a long way. If they see that you have gone out of your way, it is noticed.

Co-Workers: I love the team I work with. Always helping one another to ensure the best service for patients.

Hardest part of my job: After doing everything I can in my power, at times, it is not enough for certain patients. Everyone has their own story, however seeing patients in pain or receiving bad news... that's hard for me.

Enjoyable part of my job: Knowing that I do my part in peoples lives. I am a people person and I make it my gold to make sure that patients get the best service possible. I will go out of my way to get the answer needed.

My typical day at work is taking vital signs for my patients, doing an assessment head to toe, changing of the dressings when required, do some teaching, what is there to be expected for the type of surgery they received example: pain management, exercises. Do some blood work as per protocole sheet. Work with the team members to optimize the patients recovery and stay at the hospital

I learned to trust my insticts, usually it's always right. If there's something that seems off with the patient's assessment etc.. contact the surgeon immediately. 

The hardest part of my job would be to not take anything seriousely, i'm a sensitive person and I tend to be hard of myself at times. Also, dealing with families that are ungrateful and less considerate of the hard work you give out to their loved ones, you can often break out into a sweat doing everything you can and sometimes seems not enough to some families. Additionnaly, having to negociate for time off or having more vacation time, working holidays 

The most enjoyable part of my job is simply making my patients smile and making their stay a good and memorable one. It's not easy for some, staying in hospitals, but having their trust and making their day a happier one is a blessing. Furthermore, as a nurse you never stop leaning, you learn something new everyday and that is something I love. Also, watching a patient progressing to being really ill to doing the simple stuff as walking, or doing exercises when they couldn't do those a week ago.

Every morning, I'd go to Montfort Hospital ready to work. When I'd get there, the first thing I would do, was check every room to make sure the patients had everything they needed. After that, I'd go in the utility room, fill the trolley with a few things, walk around and check If anything was missing or almost empty. I also participated to a few training's, helped with the holiday decorations. I learned to be a little more patient with people, I also learned to use my french a little more and working there helped me a lot with that. My co-workers welcomed me with open arms. They helped me a lot when I needed it. They'd also take the time to talk about their job and they showed me some of the machines they'd use. The hardest part of the job was to do everything in time. I'm a student still in high school and I had to work at a hospital, it was hard at first but after 2 months I got used to it and I'd end up finishing all my task before my shift was done.The most enjoyable part of this job was the team work,activities, talking to the patient and also working there in general. It was the best experience ever. It was very easy for me to focus,communicate and work with other employees. The rules were also easy to remember and If I could, I would do it all over again.

There is no such thing as a typical day at work at the Family Birth
Center. Everyday is different, every family is different and every baby
is different. From one day to the next I could be assigned to a natural
birth, assisting with an epidural, assisting with breastfeeding or taking care of the family during and after a c-section. There are over
101 nurses at the birthing center alone-- sometimes making teamwork challenging with different nurses having different opinions
and perspectives with different levels of experience and maturity.:)Yet, overall, I have learned a lot at Montfort Hospital on how to insert IVs, bloodwork, monitoring FHR and managing post-partum hemorrhages.
My job is rewarding because I get to share the most intimate and joyous occasions with families and I feel honored to be part of their lives for a couple of hours.

We make patients happy with appointments and information we provide.  We learn that everyone is different and needs special care and attention.  Management looks at results and what we can improve at all times.  Coo-workers are there to help each other and make our lives easier with their own qualities and experiences.  The hardest part of the job is not being able to answer the questions right away but the most enjoyable part of the job is being able to research the answer and making the patient/client happy and satisfied with the results.

I don't remember having a typical day. The only day that was kind of worse for me it's when I had to work 18 hours because we had an emergency that day. I have learned many thing at that job like been on my own and dealing with any kind of situation not only being a teller or Valet, but sometime I had to do some quick maintenance and tried to resolved any type of accident. My co-workers are the best co-worker ever, we have very good relationship. The hardest part of that job we don't have no break and the most enjoyable part of it is the fact you can bring your computer, phone, Ipad and etc.. With you while and used them while you working.

Too many managing the registering team.  Definitely not enough clerks to take care of patients. ( booking, emergency, clinics) The are almost as many chiefs as clerks.  The management do not resolve problems or help their employees to strive but only to create more turmoil for them. The clerks are the front line when the patients arrive.  If the employers would realize how important it is for their clerks to be happy 

that it reflects on the image of the hospitaland what effect it brings on to have abut unfortunately the employers do not see this should make it a priority that the clerks are

What is the best part of working at the company?
You feel like you are part of a family. The people are nice and the salary is good too.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Always be on time and don't call sick in order to get your managers of your back.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very social and respectfull of all cultures.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The usual, you do your routine rounds, you documents, you make calls and answer them. You book appointements for patients and follow orders.

Professional environment with demanding work, but with great teams to accomplish the job. 
Work days, Monday to Friday only.
8 hour shifts.
Fast passed environnement. 
Act as the liaison between the care team and the  family. Help the care team evaluate the patients' needs and requests to improve the treatment plan. Also facilitate  the continuity of the patients' are in the community. 



Typical day at work is very challenging and very demanding.
It is a job that requires you to learn about surgeries, i.e. the way they do the surgery so that you can the right instruments for the procedure.  The hardest part of the job is that sometimes it can be overwhelming with the amount of work that needs to be done whether with scheduling the OR, follow-ups, reports, etc.  Being part of a great team makes all the difference in a day that can sometimes be tough and sometimes good.
