I left a long term secure job because I wanted to be challenged. I got more than I bargained for. I was warned by a fellow colleague that the company uses employees until they no longer need then. Only the OG's or the people that have been there for a long period of time keep their jobs (they have people with 9+ years at the company). This I found out to be true. I was hired full-time as an Account Manager but once I started, my job description didn't reflect my day to day tasks. The managers who interviewed me were too high up to give me direction, and were hardly at work. The manager that was assigned to me switched accounts and was on vacation three times while I started work.  I was left to my own devices from day one. For example, I found the tech office, hoping they'd help me set up my company computer but they needed permission from my manager to get the applications I needed. To obtain this permission took a long time. The company and their softwares are very disorganized and I had a hard time trying to find out where to get trained but asked for help from the people around me. This was a process but I managed to get trained on what I felt like was 5 out of their 30 softwares / company processes they have.  I was set up with an HR rep over an email chain with other new employees, so I reached out to her with questions and directions. She told me to speak to my manager (I explained I didn't know who this was). These emails led nowhere. I was being asked for things I didn't know about from key creatives. I didn't know the projects they were talking about as I had not been on-boarded. I had no direction, but went with the flow and tried to get / create what they needed. I was given improper introductions to clients. They didn't trust me and I didn't blame them. Still I tried to make the best of it, I tried to ask questions in meetings, integrate myself into the departments, meet with other employees and ask for direction. I was trying to learn the workflow as best as possible but there didn't seem to be one so I tried to create one. I thought maybe I just needed to educate myself, keep up with tasks and it would get better in time. I was let go one week before my three-month probation date. The same HR rep said it was not because of my performance but that my job was no longer required. I asked why they didn't hire me as a freelancer and if I could be on a freelance roster, they said no. Yet, job postings were still on their site, they were still hiring, many stating my skillset. I left confused and frustrated. I did complete some amazing campaigns which I'm proud of but was extremely disappointed with how the company operates and behaves. I'm a hard worker, love meeting new people and am self starter but this place was way over my head. Not to mention, the people that I met there (many I who I felt I had a built good rapport with when working there) I've run into since and they've completely ignored me. Thankfully, I have great relationships outside of this organization and within less than a month was able to secure myself a job elsewhere and have happily been working there ever since.

I have been contracted by two of Mosaic's clients (Rogers & Coca-Cola) to promote their products. I have worked on four leaseline marketing programs for Rogers which required me to arrive at a Rogers Plus mall location and invite people who were passing the store to enter a draw. The prize for the draw varied from program to program, but was typically a phone or cash prize. I would have a sign to promote the contest as well as the phone i was there to promote. THe phones which I have been trained on and have promoted are the Samsung Galaxy S3, Nokia Lumia 920, Blackberry Z10 and most recently the Samsung Galaxy S4. Using the draw, I would promote the featured phone and attempt to draw them into the store to hopefully make a sale. During busy store hours, I would also assist customer with answers to frequently asked questions and also show them a variety of different cell phones and help find which phone is best for them so they would make a purchase. A sales report also had to be completed online at the end of each shift. 

During the Summer of 2013 I received a position on the Vitamin Water Street Team as a Digital Brand Ambassador. My partner and I would drive the branded company truck to various cultural, charitable, athletic and musical events across southern Alberta. Typically we would set up our large tent and distribute samples while delivering key marketing for the product. If no events were scheduled, we would do "blitz marketing," where we would generally arrive at a random location where there were lots of people and give away product. My role also included digital roles, including Tweeting under the handle "@vitaminwater_ab" which was shared with the Edmonton street team, posting our location on FourSquare, and posting pictures to Instagram. 

On both the leaseline marketing and Street Team positions I learnt a great deal about working unsupervised and meeting targets. While I would have to check in with my coordinator with a picture at the start of each shift, they rarely came to the job site. However there were always daily targets to acheive, either in contest entries and sales, or bottles of water distributed. Rarely were these targets not met and in the case of the Rogers programs, there were bonus incentives to those who exceeded targets. On one occasion I was rewarded with the best sales nationally for the featured phone. 

One complaint I have is a lack of proper management and poor communication. As my final Rogers program came to an end I contacted one of the managers on the Rogers account who had previously promised another contract immediately following the end of my current one. He told me that the program was cut and I would not be employed on the coming program and left me with little explanation. My program coordinator, who also worked as a recruiter recommended me for the Street Team position which was later offered to me.

I have had the privilege of working at Mosaic North America, and I must say that it has been an incredible experience. This company truly deserves a 5-star rating for several reasons.

The group I worked with was a great cross section of people from all walks of life. Strong guys did he brunt of the heavy work. While the ladies printed out price labels. Mosaic managers were quick to blame and quite dishonest. Web site Q relay was a joke as your mileage and times were never paid for exactly as our times worked were entered. Mosaic then got our execution mangers to take our mileage and food allowances (receipts) manipulated them as they saw fit to be under budget so they looked good but left the workers shorted. A good life experience but never would I recommend this company to anyone. Although wages were $18 per hour which I made in 1983 lol they never kept their promises in paying mileage accurately , only paid 35 per diem for food and made the reset crews sleep in hotels with bed bugs, stinky places. Very disappointing company. I truly would like to know if all the people with good reviews on Mosaic worked in western Canada???? Over in the West coast we were a very well traveled team but not looked after too well I must say. Head office never had the decency to respond to email, complaints or deal with money shortages on cheques. I just walked away without being paid and never expected such a large company to be dishonest with their employees like this. I took this job as a extra cash job. I busted my butt for the company but got treated poorly.. Ive owned companies since Ive been 19 years old built good size companies nothing close to Mosaics size but I always treated and respected both clients and my workers very much. Mosaic has a lot to learn about respecting their workers.

I've enjoyed working at Mosaic. The hours are flexible and the work is easy if you have the right personality for it (talkative, extroverted, upbeat), and the pay is fair (though some places pay you more for the same work, do your research). 

A typical day at work includes setting up your asset (some lifting of around 30 lbs necessary), interacting with hundreds of people delivering key messaging about your brand, then tearing down and packing the truck.

The only complaints that I can venture are that the scheduling sucks, disregarding days which you've requested off, as well as sucky commutes. Activations can take place anywhere from Mississauga to the downtown core to Oshawa and you have to be there early in order to find the activation area. However, on the flip side, working somewhere new regularly means that you don't have the opportunity to get bored even if you're doing the same work.

In all, the coworkers make this job great, and working here has been overall a positive experience.

The job outside of their head office corporate stuff, like the job right up to your boss at the company is doing small time budgeted tasks at local retailers in support of the  clients who represent major brands which are sold at the retail stores you'll work at. Retail experience makes it easy individual stores will make it interesting and the hours are flexible. Company culture is very friendly and amiable and that's your role as well is to be a friendly ambassador of the client. It's not perfect they're still working on how to properly convey information so you understand the job before you do it, because once you've done a routine call it's more of the same, but sometimes it can be a bit of a mystery on your first try. But it's improved massively since I began last year already so they're on it, like they know and they're working on it. Pretty good employers overall I don't have any complaints and them's the facts as I see them. 

So, at first typical shift was(I was a brand ambassador for various alcohol brands) setting up my display and making it look attractive to customers walking in. Getting customers to sample newest flavors, seasonal products, newest brews, and the original. And trying to up sell them into buying the product. Hardest part was keeping track of all the customers for the various metrics for marketing purposes. But it was great because you get to interact with general public, visit various liquor stores and get to know staff, which is handy if you ever forget your ID and get carded and the staff are like "Nope! He's our liquor rep!" They supplied company cards to pay the booze. I got promoted really quick to team lead and got to hire my new team, co-workers and colleagues from the nightclub I worked at. So my weekends went from visiting stores and supervising my team. Then during week days doing admin work and calling liquor stores all across the province to schedule  tastings. My phone contact list had more liquor store phone numbers than  

There are a number of things about the merchandiser position that many would not like. 

It does involve a lot of driving, unpredictable number of work hours, and the actual work may not be to some people's liking (occasionally physically demanding). 

For myself I enjoy the driving, I listen to audio books, podcasts or curate playlists and haven't had any issues. 

Because the hours can be unpredictable it does offer a bit of flexibility if you know you are working a short cycle, you can plan things for later in the day. 

The job is only physically demanding sometimes, meaning there are some sets that are heavier, or some that are in  a refrigerated section. You are encouraged to take short breaks as needed and in these sets you often work with a partner.

Overall I find the actual work fairly straight forward. I enjoy working individually-as part of a team. (I am responsible for my own work, and no one elses, but help is available when needed).

I enjoy the variety, it's never the same job twice! and interacting with customers and staff at different locations.

I've been working with mosaic for a little over a year now and from what I've learned. It is a medium wage level compared to other experiential marketing company's, there are definitely many that pay more and require less work. This also depends on the program you are put in though as some of them will require more thorough reporting compared to others. The leaders of the teams have been great. However, they don't get paid that well so the turnover rate is quite high since it often demands more working hours. If you're lucky you'll get put on to one of the more consistent programs that are year round and will work only weekends which works if you're a student like me. Schedules are also sent out way in advance to give clarity on what is expected. If you enjoy meeting new people and don't mind a little bit of traveling this is the job for you.
