You ever walk into a company and ask yourself why most of the employees are aged 50+ yrs and most of the management is under 30yrs? 
Well I did. Seems like the only way to actually stay working there is to have either started when they first opened or be a relative of the young management. But even then, you're not completely safe from getting fired..
People who have been there 5+ 10+ years get called out of the blue and dismissed. "We feel this might not be the best fit for you" 
I was super excited to work here. I really enjoyed what I did. I was becoming familiar in different departments and learning new things.. 
I soon realized that management was horrible and biased towards me due to me knowing people who previously worked there. They quickly called me a few days later and told me my position was terminated four days before my 3 month probation.  With this quote "we feel like you would be better elsewhere and this job may not be for you" yet I was flourishing in a few other departments..
It seems that if the supervisors (not lead hands) don't like you, you are out the door faster than they hired you..
I would strongly recommend to not even apply to work here, even through temp agencies. They will eventually run out of people in Brantford/Paris who have worked here and be forced to either rehire, hire way out of town, or find new management. Which they desperately need to do anyways. They need to refocus on the employees and not the revolving doors they made. Horrible company.

Mott Mfg. could be an excellent place to work if not for a very small group of incompetent, weak, narcissistic people who are only there to fill the emptiness inside them by singling out people for their own narcissistic supply. This company does not value its workers or their concerns. The perception and feeling I received from upper management was that I should be lucky to be working there. The lack of empathy is palpable. 

There are a handful of good supervisors and one floor manager in particular who is reasonable and understanding. The other floor manager is vindictive, malicious and totally incompetent who creates more problems than solutions. A complete narcissist who has upper management fooled. 

I worked under both floor managers. They are completely different people. One is good. The other has no soul.

The most degrading culture in a workplace ever. They strive to be "employer of choice" however have no problem making employees feel like complete scum. Nothing is ever good enough for them.

They introduced an "Employee Task Force" to make staff feel like they matter, yet the entire group that was selected is management and their pets who have nothing to complain about, therefore nothing changes. Its all a huge joke.

 They have been struggling recently so morale is at an all time low with daily lay-offs, etc. Want proof? Notice there are no current job postings? Its unfortunate as they have the potential to be an incredible work place, but until management is held accountable and legitimate changes are introduced, it will continue to be a sinking ship.

I spent over 10 years working at Mott.  I was highly respected and well liked by most.  I was promoted quickly and excelled in my role.  I saved the company a lot of money through numerous product and process improvements.  I was quality minded, highly reliable and hard working.  However, there was no support from management in dealing with any of the issues.  My position became very stressful and frustrating.  I spent my last few years asking my manager to demote me, and nothing.  Frustration built and I became bitter over time.  The Supervisor and HR Head worked together to have me terminated.  It was unfair and showed a lack of respect and appreciation for my decade of dedication.  If you decide to work at Mott, accept it for what it is and don't try to improve things.

The management doesn't care about the workers. They want lifeless robots that never break down. Opportunities for advancements are a joke if you are a powder coater because you can never leave the paint booth unless there is a breakdown or minor space on the non-stop line. The managers even try to undermine each other to have better numbers which is supposed to be a no-no. Every shift pads their numbers by going for bigger orders instead of what has been scheduled or should be a priority.  They are weeks upon weeks behind schedule and they don't care because the numbers look good. Avoid this company at all costs unless you have no life and like garbage pay.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The work is heavy and I’m athletic so it’s like a 12 hour workout for me 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The work I do feeds the rest of the plant and if I don’t reach quota then by the end of the week the downstream workers are sent home early.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
No comment let’s just say it’s different it’s not a culture I’m used to. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Walk in go to my line maybe get an exchange with the other person on the line. Do a 15 minute inspection on the line and document it. Start cutting steel and sort the finished pieces to the prints. Transfer the finished pieces to staging areas and continue the cycle for 12 hours.

My actual job at Mott was great. The hours were good and salary very fair. The problem at Mott is the management’s decisions to cut a LOT of great employees loose. And no one really knows why? They’ve had a sign out front for over 2 yrs, looking for welders, assembly, press shop, etc. 
 Well..now I know why. You’ll show up for work everyday, do your job just fine while getting faster and more efficient…they’ll tell you you’re doing great, your welds are perfect, all work orders are completed by end of shift..then suddenly, without notice, you’ll get a phone call letting you know you’re no longer needed. This will oddly happen just before your probation is up..ask yourself why a factory paying up to $27/hr has trouble finding workers? 


Over all Mott has been a nightmare to work for. The management do not care at all about the works on the floor there are many examples I will list a couple. the safety staff were caught red handed falsifying paperwork on how hot it was in the building. So they would have to send people home due to how hot it was, when they were challenged on this two other individuals had to go around and take temperature readings. with the result that it was way too unsafe to be working in the building. 
  When a work place injury happens they don't help you heal properly. there are people on heavy pain killers there just so they can go to work everyday. Mott does not care for their workers.

Most of my Mott Experience has been great, I have enjoyed stable employment and experienced multiple promotions. I don't dislike anyone on a personal level, but see numerous difficulties and challenges brought about by rapid growth in the business. It is fair to say that the management has embarked on an extensive training and re-organization of resources to improve upon any such weaknesses. I enjoy my own group of staff tremendously, but have found myself repeatedly in conflict with other leadership styles that cannot seem to agree to a set of priorities. Again to be fair, this is a problem that upper management is attempting to resolve with training and team-building exercises.

I worked in stainless steel as a metal finisher. I ground,buffed and finished fume hoods,counter tops,dog kennels and some military projects(unable to disclose exact product) after the welders had welded there product. I also worked in cabinet making and on the saw in spare time when work was slow in my department. I learned so much from Mott that I am able to take to future jobs. The most enjoyable part of my job was waking up everyday and being happy to go to work because I loved what I did .
