They monitor their cash-intake closely and may leave you alone, as long as everything is going their way

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Revolving-door company. 
Making maximum money off your back with very little (or no) support when things go awry. They WILL NOT back you up, when the chips fall down. 
You meet the clients, win your own jobs (or not), earn your own pay--they DO NOT pay you--the customers do. 
At any given point in time, you are only as good as your last paycheque. Truth.


What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Isolated work environment for Technicians. Onus to meet financial targets is on you alone. Don't expect a paycheque or supportive management, if you cannot cut the mustard here. 
No team culture. No team events or bbq's. Just a progress-grilling every two weeks, at the company group meeting.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Receive your work-orders and BE PREPARED. Be on time. Zero tolerance on road situations. 
Work late if you have-to, as that's on you (not them) and they have a schedule to keep, which meets their financial targets.

Like what many previous contractors have said not as an employee they pay by bonus structure "customer billable hours" not actual hours worked. So if you do 2 to 3 estimates a day without any customers approving the quote/job right away be prepared to work for free Plus after work waste 1.5 hours buying construction materials for the next following approved customer job. Average two weeks billable hours paid between 50 to 58 hours out of 80 hours (8 hrs per day) but in reality, be prepared to work 9.5 hours per day not including a few hours on the weekend to catch up on larger detailed customer projects quotes and material pricing that need to be done within 72 hours by email or else be expected to get harassed by actual staff employee all awhile working for free. Customers get a full 1-year labour warranty and if within that warranty period an issue arises, the service technician has to do the work for free as part of the contract agreement. So good luck with that!!

As an ex employee for Mr handyman of calgary south I would not recommend this company to anyone. The wages per hour are not defined on the paycheck as they only pay for certain things. A typical day at Mr handyman entails a strict schedule of appointments, jobs, estimates and materials delivery and pick up. An 8 hour day does not mean you get paid for 8 hours as it was proven to me over the course of multiple paychecks. Sometimes when you grab materials you have to pay out of pocket as the company credit card wasnt topped up....only to harass management to reimburse you for money you spent on thrir jobs. Lack of communication between the office and the service techs causes huge delays in work being completed, causing bad customer relations. Company morale at an all time low as a result of this treatment. Stay far away.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having to track all your jobs and having the office change your billed hours constantly.  Weeks I billed out 50 hours I got 35.  But the customers paid the  50... They rip off their service techs every week

It's like a dysfunctional family.  They tell you they care but belittle  on you every opportunity they have

You go to.a lead and try sell the job, then I'd you land the job you work like mad to get it done,  then there is no more jobs.  Billed out  for 8 hours but paid for 6

I worked at Mr. Handyman with the West Calgary location and was there for almost two years and it was great. I was sad to go but had to move out of Alberta. The benefits were awesome and they payed me on time. Management was super easy to talk to and approach. The whole team was very friendly and supportive. The money was good, i dont think I ever had a higher paying job that I can remember. The company van was one of the best parts for sure.  I learned a lot from them and i would totally work there again if i moved back to Calgary. 

Hard to stay positive working for Mr Handyman of West Calgary.
They talk good, but when it comes to the actual work, they are so over priced that alot of time you show up and after pricing the job, you're left without work.
Spent many days waiting by the phone. Not all jobs are secured and ready to go. Forget about the 60000 - 90000 a year. 1100 a day and you won't make a third.
That's a huge bite IMO.

The only way to make the MAXIMUM $200 a day in by working 10-12 hours a day at ONE job. It also fully depends on what leads the office will give you. On average you will get 1- 2 small jobs a day and take home a percentage of only the labour.
I felt absolutely horrible and guilty pricing the jobs with their formula, and the markup for materials is robbery..

I have worked for this company for a while now and I have to stay out of any job I’ve ever had. These employers have to be the best employers not only do they make you feel appreciated, but they make you feel like part of the family. I wouldn’t change them for the world. 

If you like working for free, apply to work here. the bonus structure looks good on paper but in reality, the management will send you on small jobs to make sure the bonus is kept to a minimum. expect to lose money while working here. 

They make it seem like it’s a great place to work. But Refuse to pay your final pay when you leave. This is not just my experience but everyone who’s left since I’ve been with the company. 
The owner is a micro manager who is rude to staff and customers.  
No room for advancement.  Thankless job. And a lot of empty promises.
