It wasn't the job the HR team made it sound like when I was offered the position and contacted. I was working in Alberta and left a job that might've went into the winter. I was told I would have lots of time travelling the province (New Brunswick) this was not the case. I was told travel was paid but that was a misleading detail. I was travelling 2+ hours almost everyday other than the handful of days I actually travelled. I got some experience in a D75 but other than that, the opportunity to operate/learn anything was not as described to me. I was very up front about my experience with machinery but they told me it was fine. What made it difficult was I over heard a conversation I wasn't supposed to one day. My boss was under the impression I lied about some of my qualifications to get the job. I think there was obviously some kind of communication breakdown between HR and what that division of NB Power was looking for. Not a terrible place to work, but didn't work out as hoped for me.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I was able to advance to what I wanted. NBPOWER treated me excellent over the past 33 years. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working as a component specialist over the past years put a lot of stress which I Load to happen. On call pretty much 24/7. I looked after outages and contractors coming in to Point Lepreau 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was great and working with all levels of work groups with  NBPOWER were good. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Meeting with the system specialist first thing in the morning to confirm if we had any concerns to address and then if required generate work order s and help plan. Review any upcoming diesel outages which includes creating work orders and lining up contractors if required.

Had great job opportunities to work with profession employees and developed great deal of job satisfaction.I would like to know if I could get a chance to return as a buyer or expeditor part time and work from home at a wage just above the minimum wage..I have been retired 22 years and would like to get a small wage to help out with my fixed income and get a feeling of being needed again to help the company
 My former employment allowed me to use negotiation skills and a great interaction with the companies we worked with to maintain supplies needed to help us supply power to our customers..ie spare parts to our plants and putting out tenders to get the best possible price for services required by NB Power.

Very hectic, because we had a combination of 2 jobs which contradicted themselves, I've learned that if something is broken don't fix it...Too many hands in the pot with management which caused a lot of confusion with employees.  The hardest part of the job is dealing with people with financial difficulties and with the policies sometimes you had both hands tied and you couldn't do more to help!  The most enjoyable part of the job was when you could help someone and they thanked you for your hard work!! That was very rewarding to me!

This was my firs experience outside of school in the electrical field. My days involved completing work orders with an experienced electrician. The jobs usually could be completed within a day.

Management was very friendly and encouraging but felt it was quite difficult to get a foot in the door. Many of the employees had relatives prior to starting there. I had none so I didn't feel like it would be easy getting hired sooner than later.

The job was not very difficult as I felt more could get done in one day than what we were given, so I made for a seemingly long work day.

The most enjoyable part of the job was seeing what we learned in school being applied in a poer generating facility.

Dealing with different calls from Police, Fire Departments and customers with electrical emergencies and making sure information is passed in a accurate matter to the right individuals.
Part of a 24/7 operation working by myself nights and weekends.  I learned to make quick decisions.  
Hardest part of the job was during storm situations trying to make customers understand the situation.  
It is rewarding to be part of a team that gets things accomplished.

Workplace is not too crowded, and the job is very comfortable and relaxing. My day begins at 8.30 a.m., and after sitting at my desk, I usually check my work email, tickets, or any other responsibility-related items. We have an unpaid lunch break from 12.00 pm to 12.30 pm, after which you can leave immediately after finishing your 8-hour shift. It makes no difference when you arrive; all that matters is that you complete your 8-hour workday.

Great training, great management for the most part (feel as if favoritism plays a huge role in advancement) and staff is easy to get along with. Fast paced most days. Great pay. The benefits are not great compared with other jobs. Mon-Fri, business, daytime hours. 

No work life balance for parents of young children.


Overall good people but you may see micro mamagement especially in supply chain . Mamagement doesnt listen much about ur issues and actions are opposite to what they try to give impression. 

Working for this company safety was there number one priority.

Typical day at work was giving the personnel a job briefing as to what training was taking place, setting up the equipment and safety issues if any.

Most enjoyable part of the job was passing on information that I received over the years to some one new.
