The NLC boasts high pay, benefits, and hours to give but this was one of the most dehumanizing job experiences of my life. Expected to drop everything and be on call 24/7, work 65+ hours as a part time 20 hour employee , horrible treatment from immature management, and toxic & competitive work environment. Management will get angry with part time employees for calling in sick or asking to book days off and will consider any reason to deny a call in shift not good enough. I've been called into inappropriate meetings to be berated by management without the option of a union representative and have been threatened with reduced hours for not coming every time I was called. Full-time employees are unmotivated and treat new staff as disposable and pawns to do the work they don't want to do and call in sick regularly.  Overall if you value personal time for metal health reasons or any reason at all DO NOT WORK HERE!

this corporation has gone to the dogs. They’ll hire you during Christmas or summer, give you 20-40 hours a week for a month or so, and then drop you down to 5-15 hours if lucky. Yet they require you to be on call all day every day, making it impossible to hold another job. If you refuse more than one shift in 6 months they will let you go. Family means nothing to them. The job is easy, and may work for someone who is retired/has all their time on their hands. Just be prepared to give up your life

I thoroughly enjoy working for the Newfoundland Liquor Corporation. This job has been very flexible with my schooling, as well as offered me great hours during the months I am out of school (ex Christmas or Summer). 
The people I work for AND with, are extremely nice, fun, and entertaining to work with... it's never a dull moment on the floor! 
This job has given me lots of experience, and has allowed me to have room for advancement if I so desire! 
Would highly recommend working for this fabulous company!

It’s a good place to get experience and the pay is good but they expect you to be on call 7 days a week sometimes working more than 2 weeks straight. They show no recognition for their employees and the only way you advance is if management likes you. Qualifications and experience mean nothing it’s all about popularity. It was good for job experience but not a place to build a career at all.

This is basically like working at a grocery store or at some boutique retailer except you get paid a living wage (20/hr when i was there). The benefits are great (pension matching, Paid time off, occasionaly free booze, free wine tasting classes  if you are into that kinda thing etc.). The first year is great if you can make it through the lean times ( typically Jan-May) where you probably will not have enough seniority to get consistent shifts. After the first year you should be able to get good hours (25-35) most of the year.

It was a great experience! The staff there were very friendly & knowledgeable. They were very eager to assist you with learning new production tasks. OH & S was always in place, as well as safety tool box meetings. The administration is awesome and are always there for you.
 

It was a very high paced sales oriented corporation to work for and always had great customer relations and work well with others,only left my position due to illness but i am cleared for permanent employment as of june 2017

Overall it's a good place to work, but job security is an issue when it's owned by the Goverment. People are nice to work with and the hours are great. Good benefits which include medical and dental, government pension plans is a nice perk also.

You get hired on a temporary basis. On call. No guaranteed hours until you win competition based on seniority to get placed in a store. Then you're only guaranteed 10 hours a week, if you move up you're only guaranteed 20 hours a week. No chance to go full time

For the most part this was a great company as far as staff, salary, benefits were concerned.  In the later years, a major revamping took place and morale sank, staff quit, good managers were replaced and an overall sadness took over.  Very unfortunate.
