Typical day at work highly depends which location you work at. If it’s in a busy area such as downtown Toronto, you’re sure to be busy often. But elsewhere , traffic may become so slow to the point where your not actually needed. Biggest problem with this place is the hours and how scheduling works. Job prioritizes performance only and the criteria that you are subjected to meet in order to get hours isn’t even accurate as clear favouritism takes place as well as confusing expectations. This job highly relies on management being good. You will somewhat enjoy ur time if the manager of the store is decent. If not, you’ll find majority of your co workers quitting within the next couple months.  
Every start to your shift, you will be quizzed on numbers regarding the company’s performance. This will include how much sales have been made, to how many of one item has been sold. Realistically, you’ll probably forget by the time your quizzed as it’s too much to say with too little to care for, but in the event that you do fail, you run the chance of being written up (three chances per month) or even sent home.

Setting it as simple as possible, If you do not perform during your shift, regardless of what position you applied for, look to expect only 10 or less hours to work. With  no shifts, no commission, or opportunity to do better, you’ll be set aside as a filler for the day and find that working at Nike just isn’t attainable. 

 As I already mentioned, the most frustrating part of this job is hours. But what’s just as bad is the expectations you are supposed to meet as they are absurd for a minimum wage job that insists on you delivering the highest of customer service, with no incentive besides a pat on the back and potentially the chance to make commission. I say potential as you are only eligible to receive it if you are GIVEN 30 hours (new criteria that they recently changed) and “sell”. This is highly unlikely though as regardless  of having an open availability, or meeting set requirements for more hours, if they don’t need you, they wont call you. Expect the least with this job.

It may sound like I hate this place, but there’s definitely worse work environments, hence why I titled this review “ there’s probably better”. There for sure are Cool people that you will meet,  fashion and culture that you may thrive in, tons of sneakers and styles to look at,  all great points to love  about working at Nike.  But it’s  just not a place you want to work at if you want to make money and actually work.

 If you are afraid of talking to people, live alone, want a liveable part time or full time, and need consistent hours, then look elsewhere. Nothing is promised and ur better off applying to places that will give you the hours you need. 

Working at a Nike Canada's (Retailors) was an experience that, unfortunately, left much to be desired. Despite putting in my best effort, I found my dedication went unnoticed by a manager who exhibited concerning behavior throughout my tenure.

My interactions with the manager were characterized by a sense of extreme insecurity, leading to a management style that involved excessive micromanagement. This not only made the work environment unpleasant but also showcased a lack of trust and respect. The manager's attitude was condescending, arrogant, and manipulative, creating an atmosphere where her way was the only way. It was disconcerting to witness her boast about instilling fear in others, creating an odd and uncomfortable dynamic within the team.

On the operational side, the back-of-house situation was far from ideal. The lack of effective supervision resulted in chaos, with everything in disarray. The disorganization extended to the physical state of the merchandise, with numerous items being excessively wrinkled and dirty. Additionally, the work environment posed safety concerns, as navigating through the storage room required literally jumping and climbing over boxes. This compromised safety and efficiency in completing tasks.

The overall workplace environment suffered due to the slow traffic, sometimes leaving employees without meaningful tasks. Moreover, the allocation of hours seemed to be influenced by clear favoritism, which added an additional layer of frustration. Addressing concerns proved challenging, as any attempt to communicate with the manager resulted in a disproportionate response – a reduction in shifts for an extended period, without addressing the root issues.

Effective management is pivotal in a retail setting, and unfortunately, this was sorely lacking. Gossip and unprofessional behavior, such as talking negatively about employees to their peers, further contributed to a toxic work culture. The absence of proper leadership and the failure to address crucial operational issues created a challenging and demotivating environment.

In conclusion, my experience at Nike Canada's (Retailors) was marred by ineffective management, a disorganized work environment, and a lack of professionalism. These factors significantly impacted job satisfaction and overall morale, making it difficult to recommend this workplace to others.

They recently opened a location in Toronto on Bloor Street. It's been an epic fail (to say the least). The management is very disorganized and has little communication when it comes to the staff. The only thing that they were on top of was product knowledge. They often sent out group messages on products in our store, which is helpful to the staff. Within the first week, we received help from different stores across the city and a lot of them were overwhelmed with the set up and how things were being done at our location. They mentioned that they were concerned for the store based on how it was being ran. Of course I didn’t know any better, I just assumed the person was exaggerating.
They hired many people and did a lot of marketing for our store and it just has not been busy, they ended up letting most of the staff go. 

A lot of the staff was what made this a fun and memorable experience. 
It's sad to say that a big and well-known company like Nike is being ran so poorly. 
The store manager just walked around most of the time and didn't lift a finger. Just held a cup in his hands and walked back and forth. I will say that the manager under him had a good attitude and seemed to care. Many of the other leads were also quite helpful and encouraging. Hopefully they can figure the Canadian market out and save themselves. It would be sad to see Bloor lose Nike again. 
Reatilors isn't a good company from what I've heard and read online. This is unfortunately what happens when companies get bought over. Goodluck to anyone working there or is wishing to work there.

If you don't mind working in a rat farm, you will sure enjoy working at Brimley Nike in Scarborough. It's by far the worst place I have ever worked, even all the free clothes and shoes don't make up for the hellish conditions. Yes, every 3 months they have a bin pick and let the employees pick free Nike apparel, and shoes.  The managers and supervisors are directly responsible for the horrid conditions some employee's have to put up with. If they simply just don't like your face, they will assign you the worst tasks until you quit, or they will just make your picking numbers look low by giving you the worst tasks, and they will simply say you are not working to the standards of Nike, and have you terminated. I am not writing this because I am a disgruntled ex-employee, I just want to let people know what they will be in for if they decide to work here. I fulfilled my contract with Nike, and completed my entire hours as stated on contract. I was not fired from Nike, so don't think I am writing this out of revenge, I was called back after they laid me off on completion of contract. This is done so that Nike does not have to hire to many full timers, and when the work gets slow they send home all the agency workers. This happens very often so if you think they will give you full time hours, it's not going to happen, maybe only on busy season, and it does not last long. One week they will ask you to work over time, the next week they will be sending you home early. My rating is a big fail for Nike, take it or leave it lol!

A typical day at Nike was always interesting and never a day the same as the day before. You learn a lot about the Nike brand and technology used in making and designing the shoes and apparel. A very interesting workplace with a lot to learn in. The management at times wasn't the best but that's to be expected from time to time. Everyone I worked with were decent people with their own set of goals and reasons for working there. I enjoyed most of the co-workers but as in most places you have those that would rather goof off or just simply not work. That made some days much longer then others as well as a bit stressful for those who did work. The hardest part of any job is connecting with the co-workers so that the effort is a team effort. In retail there are some who enjoy their work and some who don't which leads to a dysfunctional team and most times this is the case in retail. I so enjoyed learning the different shoes, apparel, and equipment. I enjoyed the team of co-workers I had the pleasure of working with and most of the management team. It is overall a good place to work especially if your athletically inclined.

While working in retail at Nike, they really trained us thoroughly on what we were selling and the ins and outs of the workplace, making sure I felt confident selling the product and really believed in their mission. At first, the environment was so fun and the product is truly wonderful and practically sells itself. Coming to work truly felt like being part of a family, and we all worked so well as a team. Then, as time went on, the managers got really lazy and began to display favoritism. They hired way too many employees and hours became sparse, especially for those who were not very senior. This has continued to become worse, and employee turnover rate has skyrocketed. For example, I have worked there for more than a year, and the head manager couldn't even remember who I was. I'm not sure what happened, but that wonderful workplace turned really negative really quickly. Overall still absolutely love the company and what it stands for and hope to return higher up in the rank one day, but my days working in retail at Nike are definitely over.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great start if you want to get into the retail industry. Fun environment with co-workers. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Depends on your team. Hit or miss if there is actual team work. If you are the type to take initiative and have leadership capabilities some may take advantage of that. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Like any Retail Industry, it is sales driven. The more you sell in terms of SPH, UPT, ADT the better your hours. So don’t expect to sell 1-2 items, with 4 transactions within an hour and expect to get 20+ hours the following week. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
-Help customers out asking open ended questions
-Shoes? Size their foot when necessary offer shoe cleansers. 
-Clothes? Bring them to the change room.
- Bring out options or alternative purchases.
- Maintain the floor standards, fixing up folds, put away fittings room clothes, replenish any clothes with a full size run. 
- Ring in customers transaction as well as upsell discounted items. 
End of Day: Clean up FOH & BOH, throw garbage and maintain floor standards.

A typical day at work includes me showing up fifteen minutes prior to my shift to learn about the promotions and where in the store i will be working today. I learned a vast amount of information about customer service and how to actively listen to customers of all different backgrounds. I also gained knowledge on many different types of sporting equipment and how to find a product the will suit all the customers needs and wants. The management is great here and I thoroughly enjoy all the individuals that i work with. The hardest part of this job is gaining trust with a customer over a short period of time because customers sometimes believe that we are just trying to push a product, but by listening to their needs and wants I am able to gain this trust. The most enjoyable part of this job is the environment that i work in. This is because I have played sports my entire life so i am passionate about the Nike product and the other thing that makes this a favorable environment to work in is my co-workers, we all were trained under a team model. This means we all help each other out, this leads to an non-hostile environment.

During my time as a Sales Associate at Nike, I had a fulfilling and rewarding work experience. The company's commitment to excellence and innovation was evident in every aspect of the job. As a salesperson, I had the opportunity to interact with customers from diverse backgrounds and assist them in finding the perfect athletic gear. The training provided by Nike was comprehensive, ensuring that I had a deep understanding of the products and could effectively communicate their features and benefits.

The work environment at Nike was dynamic and energetic, with a strong team spirit among the staff. The management was supportive and encouraged personal growth and development. Additionally, the employee discounts and perks were a great bonus, making it even more enjoyable to represent such a reputable brand.

Overall, my time as a Sales Associate at Nike was both professionally and personally enriching. It not only improved my sales and customer service skills but also allowed me to be part of a company that is passionate about empowering athletes and inspiring individuals to reach their full potential.

Nike is a great brand to work for. The work culture is very energetic, team-oriented, and service-forward. At the start of your shift, you get together for a team huddle to learn about promotions, positions for the day, Nike product knowledge/history etc. The huddle ends with a cheer that unites the group for the day. On the floor, you are either helping customers with product, making recommendations, helping with fitting, or assisting with the cash line. 

The hardest part of the job is managing multiple customers at a time, especially if they are impatient, or rude. The store is always busy and many people come to you for help with finding sizes, specific products, etc. It is a fast-paced work environment that can be stressful with difficult customers.

Something that surprised me about working at Nike was how much they valued sharing Nike's history, vision, and product knowledge. I learned a lot about Nike's roots, and products. You know when you visit a Nike store that you will find people who share the same passion for the brand and who are knowledgeable about the company.
