NORTH AMERICAN LUMBER

Typical day was busy and had lots of things to do, not just staying in one department. I liked being able to learn all the departments inside and out! I learned about building products, doing estimates, and even got to create building orders (roofing, lumber, fixtures). The management were very very friendly! and they seriously put customers first. Co-Workers were awesome people, different walks of life and very knowledgeable on how things are done, you can go in there and ask and question and get an immediate answer. There was no hard part of the job (maybe lifting, but they have equipment and guys to help!). Most enjoyable part of the job was kinda everything, nothing was too stressful for work or personal, a very understanding, helpful and awesome company!

On a typical day i would start by opening up shop, and then begin getting the orders ready for the day at hand. While doing so helping customers with supplies they need and offering any advice i can lend. Throughout the day i begin delegating jobs to my fellow coworkers as well as begin packing up orders for the following day. Weekly trucks show up with supplies and need to be unloaded with a forklift which either myself or my co-worker will handle.

Staff liked to stand around, and didn't work as a team, management ran the retail into the perverbial  ground. Customer service was poor and even rude at times. This was reflective of the clueless, abscent minded, lazy, no good for nothing, skinny, visionless, drunk in', manager.

I enjoyed working at North American Lumber. Very little politics. Working hard and being loyal was easy for me. I wore many hats and thrived at it. It was upsetting being laid off, but, I understood the reasoning as the company was undergoing a complete restructuring to stay competitive.

Learned alot about truss manufacturing and also how to read blueprints and data sheets. Also did alot of cutting of lumber n how to cut angles and all that.. Worked with hydraulic presses and also alot of air equipment. Also tagging and marking lumber n trusses for shipping.

Great place to work they train you properly to complete your job duties properly and efficiently. Owner has a genuine concern for her employee's and has excellent communication with every employee.

Enjoyed the work, the customers and my co- workers were awesome. The shifts were fairly divided  and the work enjoyable. Met many nice people. The store was clean and tidy and merchandise was easy to find.

This was a great place to work. a busy, small town lumber yard where I grew up and know lots of the local people. Unfortuneately, most of this chain has been sold off.

wouldn't recommend was a very slow work environment that was extremely unorganized and always seemed like a mess would never work for them again it was awful

worked there with my dad and it was awesome. taught me a lot of skills and had a lot of fun as well. didnt like how my dad got treated at the end. i believe in karma
