Not the worst place to work but not a career. As a mechanic you are treated basically as a general labor by a supervisor that dosen't know the difference between trailers plugs. The shop is unorganized. They missed a day on a paycheck and takes 3 paycheck to get fixed. If you book time off for an appointment remind the supervisor everyday or he will forget and give the other mechanic the day off and leave to to work even though you book the day off 3 weeks in advance.

Although the company has grown significantly over the past 20+ years, it still feels like a close-knit family.  Everyone works together, it's a very busy place to work, so if you're easily stressed, it might not be a great fit for you - but if you're ready to work, you will find it's a rewarding workplace with great people to work alongside.

I worked at shop in Dundas for a year , it was a terrible place to work , the  shop foreman doesn’t know the difference between a truck and a trailer , many broken promises , they  missed a days pay 7 weeks in a row , I was promised benefits from day 1 , the actual time it took was 7 months , be aware 

worked on a 6 man crew for the most part doing pipeline maintenance like integrity digs. worked around live gas. worked on the road away from home for the most part. long hours long drives but good money.

During my 4 years at npl I learned lots about dealing with natural gas. I started as a labour and done all types of gas services. Including residential services as well as big main jobs .

NPL is your average large scale,corporate construction company.Wages and benefits are fair.
Typical eight hour day in office, usually quite busy which makes the day go by quickly.

Start early and finish early while everyone is always working and having fun. Great place to learn the how to learn how to be a great employee. Always has people there to help you out if needed.

As an independent contractor its hard to find a company that has the same professional outlook, NPL Canada is changing and wants to become a leader in the Construction Industry.

Unless you are family, you will get no where . Employees are great and have an old school work together mentality but upper management is poor and unless you're family, you will get no where
