National Exhaust

Typical day would be dealing with walk in or call in customers or garages that want to order specific parts for a vehicle. I would use many computer systems including the internet to look up parts. Sometimes I would have to self-diagnose the part needed.  Customers would also return new or defective parts which would require returning payment as well as making account payments.  Often my day would be quite hectic with many customers waiting to be served.  Sometimes I would have to settle unsatisfied customers quickly and effectively as other customers would be present.  At the end of my day I would be responsible for closing the cash and sometimes closing the retail area.

My job was very enjoyable as I formed many lasting relationships.  I enjoyed seeing and helping repeat customers. There were often times I would have to problem solve or help customers figure out how we could make certain things work for certain repairs.  

The hardest part of the job was probably dealing with a few people who were very biased about a woman working in the automotive industry.  This sometimes was very interesting but I also had some fun with it.  It made it easier for both the customer and myself.  



I arrive between 7:30am and 8:00am to start work at 8:00am. I start picking orders before work starts and make sure previous day orders left over are picked before more are printed out for picking. I quickly pick the orders as it is very important to have the auto parts picked and ready for delivery for out-of-town locations so drivers are out the door on time. At first, I put away stock in their proper locations in order by letter and number. It does get very busy, but I didnt mind it at all as I like hard work . As time went on I was willing to get trained for the raymond reach/cherry picker and would like to obtain a licence in this as well and learn more so i can be better and more effiecient at work. I love working with others in a team environment and with the public as well.

A week at my previous job was 6 days a week 8-5 and 8-3 on Saturdays. National Exhaust was a very flexible work environment, which was convenient for single parents and students. Since working at National I experienced some good days and bad days. It seemed like it was impossible to get a raise. The people there though are super friendly and made going to work more enjoyable.

National Exhaust is a company filled with great staff and overall welcoming people. The boss is amazing and has always provided myself with a flexible and accommodating schedule. Amongst all the great qualities, National Exhaust is a company that doesn't provide space to grow and excel throughout your time spent as an employee there.

I learned how to put away thing at a fast but efficient way. All the coworker get along and work together or in teams to get the work done the hardest part of the job is finding the parts that are in the wrong spot on the top of the shelve.

Had some sickness problems and Eventually my Drivers License got suspended.  I now require quality work hour credits to Re-Acquire my Drivers License and have only a Forklift license and a few Education Credits to work with.

The hardest part of the job was customer service.

Very casual and laid-back workplace. This was the only positive thing about the job. The pay was sub-par, vacation time could not be taken all at once.

Upper management is scattered and forgetful, ownership lacks interest in employees and building maintenance. Pay is disgraceful.

Very good company to work for.  Extremely busy. I was a fill in for maternity leave.  Relaxed atmosphere an friendly employees. Good benefits for full time employees.
