This place will put a strain on your physical and mental well being.
Everyday was a constant struggle to please the management you could do everything well that was asked of you and it was never enough.
The job used to be fun back when management actually cared.
It used to be a fun and safe environment, I loved interacting with the customers to help them find their desired products or helping bigger name clients with restaurant orders.
Interacting with the suppliers was also fun I would make orders with them and if they tried to push orders that were not needed then I would take a firm stand.
I was always flexible and willing to work with anyone.
I was apart of the Joint Health and Safety Team we would have meetings on how to improve safety standards and implement new systems.
While working here i learned some basic Mandarin due to most of the employees who didn't speak English and most of management having Mandarin as their first language.

it wasn't a terrible job. i was able to save up for a laptop and other things needed for school, but the treatment i recieved from management and hr was enough to make me leave. first of all, i was a high school student attempting to balance extracurriculars and school work. i gave them my availability and they literally scheduled me for my availability. being naive about working part-time, i let this slide and my grades slipped so much. when i asked to cut down on hours they barely did anything and i was still working lots. the salary is fine you get paid minimum wage, but for some reason, they don't do direct deposits so it was kind of a pain getting your paycheck. the management was always really rude and passive aggressive to workers of non-Asian ethnicity, even if you weren't bad at your job. There were a couple of great managers, but my experience there was mostly overshadowed by pricks. my coworkers were mostly great and it was a diversifying experience.

Typical day at work would be to clock in, wear a uniform, ask the manager what to do. They have no respect whatsoever for the English speaking employees, treat them very bad. There's always free lunch and dinner for the Chinese workers and they can do whatever they please. but if you're not Chinese they discriminate you in every way you can think of. They monitor you. Example : They always ask what you're doing, to make sure you're doing something, tell you the same thing everyday.
I'd recommend this job only if you need a bit of cash and to do it part time.

Cons 
Manager complains at for not pretending to do stuff, literally. You have to pretend to do work so your manager doesn't get in trouble with the store manager/owner, 
Language barrier since there is a strong Chinese culture present They don't train you

This place reeks of favouritism. Management has a problem creative a toxic work environment for their employees, a lot of politics are present. There is little to no progression within because the hierarchy is run by people kissing up to each other. The only positive notes are that customers are generally very friendly, and the owner responds well to availability changes and wage “increases”. Would not recommend working here unless it’s a stepping stone to something better.

As the last reviewer mentioned, it does feel more like a high school than a job. Anyone who unironically peaks at retail isn't worth the time nor brain power.

I worked there as the store was opening.  There was a definite need to improve interactions with management and staff, schedules were posted the day before the following week, or more often the evening of.  Pay was not to be set up for direct deposit, and paychecks were often only handed out in the same time frame as when the schedule was up.  Food practices in the seafood department where I worked were very low standard by the supervisor, and only two of the eight employees spoke english, but there would be four others who did not, and did little during the day.  Part could be attributed to it being a new store, but the training and employee treatment were very low quality.

During my job, at the store I worked with different people and I learnt about how to manage the department responsibilities including deal with customers, my first supervisor was good by nature and he taught me lot of technical works but when he left his job then my new supervisor was some times good but he was create problems ,which was unbearable for me but other people who were working with me all of them were good, and cooperative. Hardest part of that job was to handle the new supervisor's attitude . Some events I attended at nations fresh foods and those were really enjoyable during my job.  

Not a lot of room for advancement, a lot of "busy" work. If you're not trained to actually keep busy and make a decent wage. You dont get any security. So you feel like people are competing. And I don't feel like that's how a job is to be. I want to be a meat cutter. But i'm left on tedious duties. Maybe because I dont care? Maybe because i keep showing up with a smile. But i think if you work hard and do your best. You should be able to feel safe that your job is kept.

Management is so bad and does not care about the welfare of its employees, during a 10 hour shift you get one 30 minute break (two hours into your shift) and one 15 minute (two hours after your first one ends).. they'll change your schedule without notifying you as well as if you change your availability they agree and a month later will say you never wrote them a new letter.. my manager is the reason I'm leaving, we've gone through 3 managers in the time I've been here ( a year and a half) because how bad the workplace is.. other fellow cashiers are great, it's all management..

During my time there, it felt more like a high school than a job. If the manager did not like you as a cashier, you would be stuck at the last belt next to the exit-- during the winter time, you would perpetually get sick due to the doors opening on you with -30 weather. Pay was low as well, in my over three years of working there, I only received a 25 cent wage increase. Its a good place to work if you need work, they will always have the hours, but if you have an opportunity to leave for a job with equal pay, I highly suggest you do so. 

Worked as a bakery clerk, due to bakery hours being short, you work from open to close. Job wasn’t too hard, but fast-paced especially with packing supplier pastries. Co-workers in the same department are nice except the suppliers, they are extremely judgey and watch on how you bring back the supplier stuff back. My location didn’t like my availability changes especially when I told them that my availability would change twice in the summer, thus being fired due to my availability. Big tip, if the management isn’t setting up your sign in within 2 weeks, they’re not keeping you.
