Honestly, the job is easy. You just need to have a good positive attitude, because the job can be boring at times. Your experience also heavily depends on the line you work at. For example some lines have you rotating through 5-6 tasks every 20-30 minutes, which is awesome because you don't get bored and the day goes by much quicker. Whereas if you're on ice cream sandwiches the entirety of your day you will stand there and load sandwiches into a chute with nothing else. It helps having good coworkers who are easy to talk to.

People here are generally really nice and positive.  You kind of have to be to grind through any factory job I guess. I have social anxiety at times which is diminishing thank goodness and feel very accepted nonetheless. I never felt someone being rude to me because I'm a seasonal. 

The job ad said "with the potential of overtime." This is very misleading. The job pays $15.5 an hour which is manageable if you have your debt paid off and live with your parents and don't have to work through anything unusual or atypical.  Financing anything like that with this salary can be tough. The one caveat though is the potential of overtime. If you get even one day of overtime per week it makes your life so much easier, especially for me. It makes all the difference. Currently I am living with my parents again after school ended and have a very toxic home environment that's not good for my health but would struggle moving out without a day of ot a week. Also need to work on my social anxiety using various resources but again, even one day a week of ot will help so much with that. The job ad said "with the potential of overtime" but that's too generously phrased. I'm trained on 3 different lines now and open to train on any line they want me to and for the past two weeks I was either the first or top 5 to sign up for o/t but didn't get a single day of weekend o/t yet. What they mean by "with the potential of overtime", and I've confirmed this with permanent employees, is that regardless of how quick you sign up, first priority will be given to filling up all of the overtime slots with regulars, and I'm guessing if there are remaining slots and not enough regulars signed up they will contact regulars to try to fill them first, and then and only then if there is still need will seasonals be considered. So basically seasonals in this case are there as mere placeholders. I don't think it's fair that regulars hog all the o/t esp if they are getting both Saturday and Sunday. I think the sharing of o/t should be more equitable and should better represent what one would think when they see "potential for o/t" on the job ad. In reality from my understanding that  means "you might get o/t if we can't fill it up with regulars first although this is extremely unlikely because more than enough regulars will sign up for o/t." Idk with such low odds of getting o/t it's misleading to have it on the job ad. Aside from this, good place to work.

Nestle while a great ethical corporation, has issues in the London location. While I was working as a production worker (packing), the job started out smoothly for the first 4 months. Pay was competitive, work was easy, environment was clean and safe. However, I was soon saw the dark side of the work culture as the production season was slowing down. During March, almost the majority of non- hired on/ non full time workers, were put on the night shift permanently. This was due to very few to no full workers wanting to work the night shift. While this is normal for any kind of factory work, this continued for 2 months and there were was no other shift rotation for the seasonal workers ( continental shift ect). The night shifts featured disrespectful management, full time workers often berated and used profanity for little to no reason as there was a toxic culture against seasonals. Full timers openly disrespected new-comers for no reason, any mistake on machinery by operators was always attributed to seasonals and blame was always shifted to seasonals.  During this time management would call in a full working crew during the night shift for all lines, despite many of the lines only running for 30 minutes to an hour during the night. When production was finished the night shift  managers would use take seasonal workers "out of rotation", taking them off the lines and asking them to stand around, as they were not permitted to go home without pay or even clean or touch machinery. All this while fulltimers worked and had free reign on what they could do during down time (mostly sitting around talking after production). Also, during the night shift you never knew how long you were going to stay, as being "out of rotation" could entail a manager deciding that they want to send seasonals home right when you walked in the door. In short, night shifts were mismanaged and had an extremely toxic environment. Seasonals walked around on egg shells, not knowing if we were going to get any hours this shift. Additionally seasonals had no upward mobility, as a mass hiring for full timers in February filled the unions quota of 150 full time jobs. Seasonals are just place holders at Nestle, they will call you in for 30 minutes of work and then make stand for hours, while they decide on a whim if they are sending you home or not. Another final note, there is no notice of fees on the physical paper contract you sign, but the start of the first shift, managers make you sign union membership with dues. Paying dues without being guaranteed hours is silly are plain theft. Also 3 months into work, management decided that seasonals had to pay a 30 dollar " PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT DEPOSIT". Once again no notice of this was given on the contract.

I've been working there for some years now. started off fine then when profit margins started to decrease because of the price raise on the products they decided to lay off the older staffing and some new staffing who was considered problematic. then started to drop extra tasks on the workers who survived the layoff increasing the stress of the workers and team leads. on top of that increasing the speed of production making almost impossible to stay safe in the environment (which is key focus for Nestle), forcing drivers to keep drive faster than they can. 

after that management were put on strain from the higher ups to watch for any and everything not much praise given when the "grunts" discover problems and either fixes it or try to get it fixed by someone else. 

warehouse management is no better. there is a new manager there who does not support the material handlers at all. barely see this person out on the floor checking on their underlings. and will only talk to you if you do anything wrong being severe or petty and make you beg to keep your job before letting you go back to it.

there is one or two "good" managers there but the rest just push and push for A.I. the ones that push dont care to help 95% of the time, if your palletizer is down because of bad products coming to it causing crashes.

you constantly have to be watching your shoulder because even some of the "grunts" will tell the manager on you if you were found doing something that seems to be unsafe to them, or if you idle too long.

yes the pay is good, the overtime is not forced, benefits follow after being hired full time (at the rate this place is going persons who are new are contract hires and they may not get the full time unless someone who is full time leaves).

on shift and off shift are fair. 4 days on 4 days off rotational days and nights 5:50 to 6:05 be prepared to give up a few weekends each month.

after all these words i didnt emphasize on safety....they are supremely "up the back end" on safety...it is a good thing but they will pick on the small stuff that will seem not to harm you. 

gossip is strong there be careful who you talk to. also material handlers (forklift drivers) are always at fault even though it wasnt.

At first i was excited to come to work, the shifts are steady for new comers and their was the opportunity to progress in the company. However, once minimum wage increased, the pay was decreased and no longer substantially better than the average retail job, which is much easier on the body I might add. There is no job security, twice a year you are laid off and wait for a letter to return to work. I have to constantly remind the schedulers of my availability and they still mess it up each week. And schedules are only given out a week in advance, the final copy going up Friday afternoon for the following week. When you are hired you are hired as a seasonal employee and gain no senority through years of experience. On the chance you're randomly selected to be a full time employee you have the chance to earn more money and reap the benefits, however until then you are nothing. They are now hiring full timers off the street with no experience in production or factory work before giving loyal seasonal the chance to apply. Furthermore they are "slow" and schedule full time employees who have worked for the company less than a month over seasonals who have proven their worth to the company and have skills to make them true assets. After speaking to a union rep I was told that as a seasonal I am stuck in this situation and will continue to lose weeks of work to new employees because they were given a better opportunity than I or many other dedicated seasonal production employees were. Most of the co-workers are lovely though. I recommend the night shift.

Shift starts vary not only from what shift you're on but also the jobs you're trained on too but for a typical day in production you'll be getting into uniform and entering the production floor to package product in 20 minute intervals in a rotation with a 20 minute break after every 5th job, there are many opportunities to learn new skills but unless you can get assigned a job you'll be stuck wherever they put you until you have the seinority to bid on a job to do for the year.

Management is alright and generally enjoyable but there is an air of nepotism and a sense that a lot of people got to where they were based on just knowing the right person.

The workplace culture there is a very mixed bag, with the sheer number of employees there it has led to a somewhat cliquey type enviroment similar to a highschool but so long as you don't go out of your way to upset people it's a generally friendly enviroment.

The hardest part of the job really just falls down to the hours as until you have the seinority to bid on a job or you are assigned one you'll be bounced around any jobs you're trained on as well as any of the three shifts so you could in a 3 week span work days, afternoons, and nights which is uncommon but it does happen

The best part of the job is really the people, there are a lot of solid individuals there that make the job a lot more enjoyable and fun.

temps come in and are encouraged to be trained and advance, and come to management for guidance, yet when requests are made by employees to management, we are labelled as a problem causer and they find ways to make your time their uncomfortable so you will want to leave. Management is unorganized, lines are often not ready to start running in a timely fashion, orders are cancelled and switched around, often you are put at task to do rework and fixing mistakes that shouldn't have been made, temps are often asked to complete tasks they do not have the required training to complete safely, operators are under stress to pump out juice at ungodly speeds, and they seem to use a trail and error method when it comes to new systems and equipment. However, I cant say I didn't meet some awesome people in there, your coworkers are mainly optimistic and easygoing to be around, however the petty high school dramas tend to break out from time to time.

oh yeah, I learned in there that working 5 days a week for min wage in a company where your management doesn't care about you sucks.

I joined Nestlé while planning on joining the military and during my interview I was told that there would be no issue. Fast forward to my swearing in ceremony and after becoming a military member I was told that I don’t get special privileges just because I was joining the military (I asked for the day shift). Then after about 4 months I had to quit the military as Nestlé was messing with my schedule and job assignment (I assume to make me quit as I was ripped on about it by many). Then as I was stuck on the night shift newer employees passed right by me into class 1 and 2 jobs while I was stuck pushing a cart around all night doing a useless job on a shift I medically could not do. I then took a LOA due to medical reasons caused by work and my benefits company was asked by my doctor that I am put on the day shift as that is the only commendation I need and they declined, then I was terminated. This was my first union job and I hear so many good things about other places but at this point in time I wouldn’t suggest this place nor union as a career choice as they do not work with you, you work with them and if you don’t you’re gone.

Ok I`m going to be completely honest with you here. Nestle waters does not value it`s employees. If you`re not part of the favorites group then you will be targeted for termination. I`ve never seen such a high turnover rate in all my years of working. The job itself is boring and far too easy. If you`re lazy then you`ll love it there but you need to get in well with the managers and become part of their clique. If not then they will harass you to no end, they will write you up for things that you never did and fabricate stories so they can build a false history record on you. If you argue with them then they will send you to mandatory counseling for anger management. They are very shady and sneaky and will boot you out the door as soon as they have enough incidents on your record. HR will do nothing for you since they are on the same side as management. I`ve seen them do this to over 15 people in a span of 2 years. If you`re a student and only interested in working there on a seasonal basis then you`ll be fine. Don`t work here looking for full time though. They desperately need a union to protect their workers. On day shift they have about 40 managers who have nothing to do so they walk the floor and harass the operators.

Most of the jobs you might do are pretty boring or tedious, like much factory work. But you will rotate stations usually every 20 or 30 minutes depending on what line or job you're doing. 

All shifts are 8 hours, with day shifts having a half hour unpaid lunch(8 and half total), where as afternoon and nights have a 20 minute paid lunch(8 hours total). all shifts have at least 2 twenty minute breaks as well.

I haven't had any issues with my co-workers or my supervisors/lead hands. The HR people have all been friendly and pretty quick to deal with any issues in my experience as well.
