A typical day at work began by scheduling all radio commercials that were to air the following day. Next would be going through emails and organizing the daily tasks from most importance to less. Had no issues with co-workers. Very hard working and talented individuals that I learned from. Management was fantastic at the beginning but after my manager passed away his replacement was a different animal. Although a very nice guy who was well achieved and dedicated, we were all on eggshells as he had a passion, it 
seemed, for releasing employees that were very good and valuable employees. You never knew if was your last day. The hardest part of my job was trying to please everybody with commercial scripts - sales reps, new manager and clients. However, this was also a great learning practice. The easiest was voicing commercials.

I worked with a great group of people and still miss that environment.  But the corporate culture went downhill when a new CFO was brought in to get the company in shape for sale.  Following the sale (to Stingray) there were no signs of rebuilding.  When I left, the company was squeezing every ounce of profitability out of every remaining employee.  The environment had become very stressful.

Working for Newcap Radio was such an enjoyable experience. My favorite part of this position was the atmosphere I worked with some of the greatest people I have ever met. I loved this position because it offered me the opportunity to use my creative skills I worked a lot with Microsoft Powerpoint. I also loved that I was able to work close with the public as well. The only down fall was there was no room for me to grow within the Company.

I was a morning show host in a town that I hated. Rural Alberta was a poor fit. 6 weeks into the job they fired our newscaster who had been with the company for 14 years, and I was ordered to perform his duties on top of my own job. That right there says plenty about the kind of company Newcap is.

Might be the very best broadcast company there is. Unusual as it may be in this new age corporate "bottom line" orientation, here's a company that actually cares about people.

Unlike many other broadcast companies that will cast good people aside for the sake of financial statements, this company won't sacrifice careers to look good in the short term.

-Produce and host a live radio show.
-Learned the ins-and-outs of radio production
-Worked with a very small office crew who became like a second family.
-Hardest aspect was the occasional interview that was booked at the last second which didn't leave anytime for research into the topic of discussion

NewCap Radio is a great company! Tons of fun, supportive people who are always willing to help you reach your goals, learn new skills, and make sure you are having fun at your job.

I enjoyed most of the two years I sold advertising for Newcap Radio.  It was a fun place to work, and almost everyone at our stations had a positive attitude.  Almost.
My only regret is not making the effort to establish a personal relationship with my immediate supervisor's superiors.

Management lacked awareness. No help in approving skills. Too busy trying to be friends with employees which would lead to pour decisions that would Alienate others. Would take things too personally the only way to stay in good graces would be to stroke his ego. No thanks. 

Well organized and lots of opportunity for advancement.  Worked as a strong team environment.  Saddened to be leaving due to a provincial move.
