A typical working day is maintaining and operating a school bus while carrying precious cargo to schools and home. What i have learned in my three years is patience. Because driving 72 children on the bus can be hectic most days. Listening to safety rules from the supervisor and preparing safety rules with the children makes the driving experience more an pleasant safe ride to and from the destinations. The management personnel is remarkable any questions or concerns they are always there to help with a helping hand. The workplace culture has many various ideals, beliefs and traditions which we all learned from within our team members who we all respected each persons cultures. the hardest part of the job is the weather during the winter, because there can be days when the community will be snowbound. Lastly, the most enjoyable part of the job, making sure the children are home safe and the bus is parked safely to begin again for another typical working day.

Once arriving at my work I had to open all school doors for students and staff so they could start there day then I had to leave to bus the children from there homes to three different schools. After this I had cleaning and maintenance duties to perform 

What I learned was to put the children first to make sure that the environment was safe and clean to do my part to ensure that this happens

The management was wonderful to work with.

Busing the children

The work life balance at NLESD is wonderful. They care about the well-being of their employees and generically that they get time to spend with their families. It is a weekday job, and  provides you the weekend to yourself.
Pay scale doesn't really reflect experience, and can be a bit clicky. However, job security is very good. If you're working in your district pay might be seen as better but if you are forced to travel to your branch, its definitely not enough, they could support their employees better that way. 

overall - highly recommend. 

I would not suggest this job to anyone who values there integrity   Hard time looking away while others break policy over policy
Management show up quietly to see see if u r not constantly working. Hr meetings a a joke 
Don’t ever go the hr with an issue about anyone u will be austersised by fellow workers
There is an clique like atmosphere you can’t trust anyone to talk to them about issue at work 

Teaching for the NLESD can be a fulfilling experience, but the employers do not support their employees. The employer/employee relation is very adversarial. Employees are treated as inconvenient problems, and if there is ever an issue with parents or students, the NLESD will not stand behind their employees. 

Honestly, if you're thinking about getting into teaching, you should really reconsider. 

- Manager, Acting Manager or Payroll Specialist hardly speaks with staff, it’s like staff don’t exist so this makes for poor morale among employees. 
- Very high turnover of staff.
- Favouritism showed with Manager, not hard to see favourite and least favourite staff member.
 - Concerns expressed to HR with nothing corrected.
- I would not recommend working in the payroll department.


Most all new employees are related to the managers and this leads to poor work ethics,the lazier the new employee the happier the operation managers are.
The older employees get treated the worst and how can you speak up against anyone when they are related to managers.what good work ethics a real worker got and want to do good for the company is all destroyed in a couple of years by the managers and their lazy hired friends and family.

Very poorly managed. Human Resources are there to give trouble and fear to staff and support management. There is little to no support for staff (which was hinted at during the interview). It is a union job, but the union comprises of people who are self serving to better themselves in the eyes of management and if you cause trouble for them (even asking questions) you’re immediately told “don’t rock the boat”. 
There are better places to work. 

I Love being a teacher. The hardest part about the job is that it is very hard to receive substitute days or a full time position. The part that I enjoy the most is that I love working with and teaching the children. It makes me feel wonderful to teach the children and watch them learn. The workplace culture is wonderful and it is nice to associate with all of the other teachers.

While the district is great in itself, I find they prioritize the wrong things when it comes to who they hire. They want someone who looks good on paper instead of someone proven to work well with the students and create relationships. They dont care about anything except a list of qualities...if you are missing even one they make it exceptionally hard to find gainful employment
