Niagara this Week

Not worth the pay at all, it was 4 hours a week, yet I would always hurt myself, end up paying for my self-supplied low-quality cart breaking, dealing with snotty people snapping because of something as silly as "I don't want these papers, yet I'm too lazy to call in myself so you have to tell them yourself!" I never met my supervisor, meaning she could say the most ridiculous stuff to me or my father on-line, but I could do nothing about it besides sending an e-mail back saying "Okay." I got no help doing these besides getting a ride from my father to the area I was delivering to and a bit of help delivering. When I was sick, I had to do it anyways. When I would have an accident hurting my leg, "Too bad, find a way to do them since we're not sympathetic in the least," which I ended up doing. I had to do this job to pay back my father, so I had no money to myself. I tried to quit, yet they kept sending the papers, because my dad said "You're not quitting, even if you did pay me back in full and then some." It was a horrible job, the only good thing about it was the work experience. I learned how much I can take before snapping: a metric ton.

The day before a white van comes to your house with the pile of newspapers that you have to sort to put together into a different pile. 
then you have to put it in a cart or backpack for me but if you have a car you can put it in your vehicle. 
Then the next day you drive or walk to different houses, placing the newspapers into their mailbox, but some people throw it on their driveway or lawn . 
I had no car so I had to use my backpack or cart to carry the papers to people's houses and place them in their mail box. 
I did that right in the mornings because it would get hot in the afternoon. 

Bare minimum is putting it mildly. Pathetic pay, including miniscule "bonus"/commission when dealing with extra flyers. Very limited communication with sudden changes and frequent delays which would throw your week out of wack when the papers just don't show up at your home till Saturday without notice.

from what I've heard, this is still the case as of Summer '22.

If your kids want some extra money, a part-time job would be better. Certainly not the worst way to learn responsibility and time management as a kid, but not advisable for pretty much anyone else.

Supervisor I dealt with was kind, but the company overall just doesn't care.

A Day at Work

Every thursday i receive two bundles of newspapers and flyers. I assemble the papers and deliver them on two streets, totaling 76 papers. I carry the papers in a bag and have to walk long distances.

What I've Learned

Carrying papers is a menial task however I still have a responsability, I need to be dependable and reliable. I've also learned that no matter what the job, people will appreciate the work you do.

Management

My representative is very professional, she would tell me if a household no longer wanted papers and frequently told me about promotional events within the company.

Every week i wouldbe delivered papers which alot of the times many f the papers got ruined due to the people delivering them or they leave them where they could be rained on. after i then put the two sets together and then bagged them and put them in boxes so i could transprt them. i would them get a ride and deliver the papers.

I enjoyed working for the Niagara this week, but there could have been some adjustments in order to improve it. A typical day is to deliver the paper to all the house in a paticular neighbourhood every Wednesday and Thursday. Working hours were flexible, but the salary was not the best. No tips. No prizes even though I entered every one for the full 8 years that I was there.

Overall, Niagara this Week was a good learning experience for someone interested in the paper-media business and aspiring journalists. The people I worked with on a day-to-day basis were helpful and nice. 

The most difficult aspect of the job was the cold calling of various members of the community when we needed to research about a story.

a typical day is on every Wednesday. First they drop off the ads on Tuesday night then around noon and in summer I stuff then then take them on my wagon, but in summer I have one of my parents help me.

I learned that being on time for certain people who receives the newspaper is a must. The hardest part of job is there are no other co workers I can depend on because its an independent kind. The most enjoyable part of the job is viewing different type of neighborhoods when giving out the newspapers
