Don't expect your education to take you anywhere here. You only get ahead if you're friends with management or like to gossip with managers. Guaranteed a better position if you're a family member. Also, family members work on same shifts and site, so expect biases if there is conflict (which there will be). There is so much changes, half the time noone knows what they are doing. They hire and promote people who are FRESH out of addiction (pros and cons to this). Pro have lived experience and can connect  better to residents. Con expect theft and poor leadership.  
Huge turnover rate due to overworked, mediocre pay and lack of empathy from managers(everyone included). They do not support staff that are loyal and choose to stay with the company so they can better help and support the residents, which is why most of them stay. We are told to tough it out. Lateral violence comes from everyone working there, managers included. 
The recent firing of two site managers was the only good thing going for the Fort Rd location. But only opens the door for more family members or long time friends to come in as management. 

The clients/residents were nice to me. It is a nice job where you can just chill with the residents, however, at any moment that you don't do as they say, your job is on the line. The staff often complained about the clients being "spoiled" and that the management will not support you whatsoever. They will hold 6-7 hour long meetings and put staff against each other by asking them to point out a bad work trait in a fellow worker. I was always scheduled outside of my availability and I was often asked to stay late (literally don't even get an option because if you leave, the clients will be by themselves, and you will get fired for leaving the job site after your shift is done). It is a good place to work at if you need the hours but beware of the management. None of the staff was a fan of working there and everyone always talked about quitting.

Very fun and always laughing with clients and staff, I learned to have a open heart and to have boundaries, management was very caring, workplace culture was diverse and very open to indigenous culture (which I loved), the ghardest part of the job that it was a harm reduction site and we used narcan a lot. Sometimes it’s hard hearing the communities peoples stories and how they grew up. But it gave me a better understanding in life, the most enjoyable part of working for niginan housing ventures was the people and the love we all shared. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The healthcare team is great. They are all friendly and work as a team. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management seems more interested in controlling people than empowering them. They know how to use staff to their limit—often beyond—then discard them when no longer convenient. There’s little regard for development, well-being, or retention. Decisions are often reactive and based on personal bias rather than team performance or potential. If you're looking for a place where you can grow and be valued, look elsewhere.

My experience at the Blanket Ceremony was amazing. I had a chance to know or better understand the life our Indigenous People had been from the past, which is heartbreaking. I was able to emphasize my understanding of the trauma carried through generations, which most of our resident has been experiencing. Most important, it was a chance to everyone to speak up/share.

And this kind of training helps the relationship building through my other co-team leads/lead, which empowers or helps us closer to each other and helps to create a stronger team.

This really is the most effective organization when it comes to diligence, and stopping at nothing to find solutions for all people concerned…the management really does care about their clients and for the most part, their employees…unfortunately due to their company growing, they lost touch with one or two… but the intention is there

Do not apply unless you really need a job. The clients are ok for the most part, but management is the worst. They do not respect staff at all. They do not follow availability and get mad when time off is requested. Very condescending, disorganized and undermining, creating an unsafe work environment. Very poor communication. Not worth it. Go somewhere else. Too bad because work in this field is important and the clients deserve better. 

Having experience is helpful because there is little or no training. Friends and family are favored and you are good as long as you agree with management, once you disagree you're on the down slide and encouraged to leave.
One favored worker thought it was cute to pretend to zip up his fly after meeting with female staff members and say thanks.

Day at work was mostly filled with standing around with no direction or guidance. Was nice to talk with residents, but hardest part of the job was dealing with management. All they care about is going out putting on a show while employees and residents struggle
