North Mississauga Soccer Club

Coaching at North Mississauga Soccer Club (NMSC) was a rewarding experience through being able to feel partially responsible for the growth and maturing of a group of kids. I coached kids aged 12 and under, and whether it was seeing their faces at practice every morning at 9:00 am to playing games once a week; I was happy to be there. On game day or practice a typical routine would be setting up all the nets, and flags before everyone had arrived and having a set warm up and game plan to be discussed ready before the game. Throughout the game being forced with making crucial and on the spot decisions, while also knowing when to allow my players to use their best judgement regarding how to approach a situation was truly gratifying in itself. Being able to witness the players mesh as a unit and decide amongst themselves as to how to apply themselves based on the situation at hand was the moment I experienced the greatest sense of accomplishment regarding my efforts as the coach that season. By far the most complicated part of being the coach was dealing with the parents who believed they had a right to have a say in the way our team formulated and employed our game plans. As the season moved along I believe the parents allotted more trust towards me and my methods, and stopped viewing me as simply a young student coach. In hindsight coaching soccer was a great experience that I would definitely look into doing again.

The overall work environment of the North Mississauga Clubhouse was a great one. The staff were extremely friendly and we all loved the sport so much. A typical day at work would include organizing and gathering the equipment for the fields and setting them up, making sure the field does not have any dangerous materials on it. Management at the clubhouse was well organized and always ran smoothly. I'd say that the hardest part of the job would be dealing with parents who would cause conflict by screaming at the children and other parents because it is supposed to be a fun safe environment. The most enjoyable part of the job would definitely be watching soccer all day.

I would Referee house league, All-star as well as rep games from the ages of 8-10.  They would be an hour to one and a half hour games depending on the age group.  I learned a lot of things while working here, some of them were making accurate and quick decisions that I could back up, being responsible, being calm, collected and professional when facing parents that were unhappy.

A well, organized soccer club. Flexible work times, I get to be my own boss and choose the days I'd like to work.  My interpersonal skills, time management skills and my quick decision making skills come into play, which gives me the opportunity to better myself, as well. I love working here, it's fun, I love soccer, and I'm happy to be doing what I love.

To be honest, a great experience for young adults to learn how to assert themselves reffing youth games. 

Or for an adult to pocket, a quick couple hundred reffing teen to adult games. Free Beer and exercise.

If you like running up and down the soccer field this is a good position, gives you exercise. The schedule was good being able to do 4-5 games a week, with plenty of room for development and becoming a better referee and being able to work tournaments.

A typical day for me volunteering at North Mississauga Soccer Club is great day couple of hours leading a group of young athletes into a fun game via a good warm up and then controlling the substitutions being there head coach

it was a easy job, all i had to do was watch kids and help them with planned soccer drills and assist them into improving their skills. I helped them in game as well along with giving them fair game time.

get yelled at by parents alot, its right for you if you if you can not let any of that get to you and if you are good with pressure

Great group of human been. Coaches are great people. staff were friendly and very professional. BOD very unprofessional at times. Outstanding technical programs. Great club
