Ex- Hose shop tech at the Clairmont branch. 50/50 on the employees and whether or not you'll enjoy them, the manager running the place is money only oriented, will pull you aside 5 minutes after getting to the store to randomly reiterate "work faster and more efficiently". The company has potential, but under the leadership of managers like the one at this branch? they're doomed. 

I loved working there, best crew I ever worked with, however the employees are underpaid and overworked, overworked, and the company won't listen when you tell them they need to hire more people for the shop. (static 5 min, company skeleton runs 2) 

the most challenging parts of the job is the intense workload, computer invoicing and part number memorization, but after about 4 months you have the basics memorized and the work is easier. by far the most enjoyable part of the job is the people you meet, made a few friends from customers. 

When things are good, the work culture is good. unfortunately, things are bad, so, the culture followed suit. 

 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Northern Metalic does have a family like atmosphere. If you work hard and not cut corners just because you don't feel like working you will like it there. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The pushy salesmen.
The pushy, demanding customers.
Fellow co-workers that are too lazy to their part of the job properly. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not to bad with the people you get along with, but there is some lazy people working there. 
There is fun times with fellow co-workers and customers.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Inspect and pull out trucks.
Run the delivery department, like pick tickets, check tickets, send my driver's out the door with orders.
Assist the front counter, and shipping/receiving.
Fetch goods from warehouse. 
Go through backorders and call customers.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They value every staff member and you’re treated like family.  Great sense of humour makes it fun as well.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There are times when it gets super busy. All the departments affect each other so if someone isn’t doing their part, it tends to back the process up.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Always smile because it is contagious.  For people who like learning new things, they can move “up” or cross train in different departments.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It’s usually busy enough or more than busy to make your day fly by quickly.  For us in Shipping/Receiving there is always freight coming insi we stay busy

What is the best part of working at the company?
My co-workers are helpful, friendly, and I felt welcome. We have a different kind of bonding that is beyond the connection between co-workers. Thank you northern metalic and side groups for treating us so well and giving us the best that you.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
At the beginning, it's hard if you don't have any background about tools and customer service.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Happy, welcoming and safe work environment. Flexible management and my manager is so understanding.

I loved the work I was doing, it was a lot to learn but gave me great experience. I had a great schedule and was able to get requested days off. However, the workplace was very overwhelming and stressful. co-workers werent that friendly. My anxiety was so bad about losing this job, that I cried every morning before my shift started. I liked the work I was doing but I realized that the feeling the work environment gave me, just isn't worth it. 

Managers that are held down under thumb of the Side group  no ability to make changes, Owner that only care about the dollar could give a rip about staff. Crappie benefits, low wages, no raises. 
Very toxic work environment wouldn’t recommend working for them. Made to work every second Saturday for 4 hour and if it you book time off and it work out on your Saturday you have to find someone the switch with you. 

It’s ok place to work if you’re very independent, and can keep work at work. 
Most days are stressful, some amazing staff, but some not so much - not a lot of weight pulling , a lot of laziness and nothing is ever done about it. “Yes Man” management. 
Some staff good with helping you learn, others are downright rude 

the negative are always brought to attention, but nearly never the positives. 

It isn't a horrible place to work if you don't mind never getting raises, told well done or keep up the good work, or even getting annual reviews.  There is no feeling of being a team despite how often it is brought up, and management only sees what they choose to see.  But if you are just looking for a Monday to Friday (and 4 hours every other Saturday) that doesnt truly care about most of its employees then this is the place for you.

Surviving the day without going home and killing myself.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The toxic soul-sucking environment.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic and soul-sucking. Very misogynistic.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Excruciatingly painful. Bosses do nothing but criticize.

The employees were great, and is a good place to learn. People are willing to teach, but management was done poorly, as all people in power seemed to be fighting for it. Was not a great place to come into everyday, as management made it hard to enjoy a day a work, but fellow employees made it worth it.
