Advice to Management:
Continue investing in IT resources, documentation, succession planning, and employee well-being. Clearer communication, realistic workload expectations, and stronger support structures would help improve employee retention and overall operational effectiveness.


My time at NVD allowed me to gain valuable experience and contribute to several major infrastructure, networking, and technology modernization projects. However, the workload and ongoing pressure ultimately made the position difficult to sustain long-term. I appreciate the opportunities I was given and wish the organization success in the future.

Through a pandemic you can truly see the power of the people that make this company and culture. While there is still some ways to go, this company has an entrepreneurial spirit that almost forces you to think on your feet, create ways to make the company better but aligned with a sense of purpose in the community. It is important to ensure that relationships are strong with everything we do and we recognize as leaders and not followers. A big part of many employees still being with NVD are the opportunities we have been afforded despite possibly the need to reskill in a different area or region in the company. Leadership is almost loyal to a fault when it comes to dedicated employees.

During my tenure, I have seen countless other colleagues grow and thrive through the years with their careers. While many have gone on to other successful ventures, there are many more who are still with the company and have seen shifts in positions, divisions, or locations. Every day is different as new opportunities or challenges arise. Being part of a larger company in a small population puts alot of pressure to ensure we do the right thing, say the right thing, and act in the benefits of all stakeholders. 


The people you'll work with day to day are an excellent group. Couldn't find a more hardworking and supportive bunch. Which makes it a shame really because to the leadership you're all disposable tools. And the chances are they'll just toss you before you can leave on your own terms. It's written into the contract they can terminate without cause and without notice. Oh you'll get your severance but they don't give a care about any other considerations, housing, moving costs, nada. 

Managment is distant, unsupportive and needlessly harsh. They'll critique you for every slip up, praise you never and support you not at all. 

If you do decide to work for this company, be warned, even when you think your job is secure. I might fall our from under you without a moments notice.

The banquet department used to be an amazing place to work. Restructuring of the management resulted in a terrible working environment. The dept manager has the work ethic of a pampered house cat. Times, number of guests and food was very rarely correct. Management was never on site to directly deal with the issues with the unhappy guests. Communication between management and guests constantly went unanswered, leaving the on site staff to deal with the outstanding issues. The higher you go up the chain of command, the worse it gets. If you love dealing with cranky guests, absent management and poor pay, this department is for you! Otherwise, steer clear!

I took on my role with NVD because I felt it was the best opportunity in all of the Yukon to grow and grow, be supported to learn and take on more, and never ever get bored. I was right! I feel very supported by the management team, and I feel NVD's trajectory is just to get better and better. 

The environment and other employees here make this a fun place to work at times, however almost every single manager or person in power I've met here makes it more than clear they don't see their employees as people but more so as tools to help them make more money. Low wage for employees, getting yelled at for simple mistakes, always having to do more than asked and rarely getting treated decently made this a very stressful place to work. 

was hired full-time as a server, seemed like a great place at first. Unfortunately the managment seems to be always absent. The majority of their seving staff at Earls are under 19, so if you're older than 20 expect to be the babysitter on shift. The Bartender wage is listed at $18/hour but no one was making more than $15.70/hour behind the bar. Bar tip out is an astronomical 7% of bar sales.

Great coworkers and customers to learn from. Hard and ethical work is over looked and under appreciated.  The work place culture is favouritism. The hardest part of the job is navigating the micromanagement and low pay. The most enjoyable part is learning First Nations culture from the customers and coworkers.

Coming to the office everyday and getting to learn something new is what I strive for. NVD LP has not only helped me become financially stable but also the work I do is satisfying and does not feel like burden at all. Thanks to the supportive colleagues and seniors. I love the fact that NVD focuses on work life balance and encourages its employees to work efficiently and also take days off. 

Coworkers are great and the employees keep the business afloat.  Upper management is the worst I've ever seen. They are constantly unavailable for support or even basic communication. Derogatory comments are constantly made about people behind their backs. Stay far away from this company at all costs.
