The office is located on the water with a view of the lake from the second floor. 

The building and washrooms were always clean and people greet each other when they pass. 

Great learning experience, safe environment,  opportunities to work with and improve your skills. 

Happy environment, you get to  work with flowers all year around and learn about how they are grown where they come from and all the names. 

Up to date equipment, on site IT team, certified first aid providers & Maintenance team for any issues.

I appreciated the open door policy with management as many people at that level are difficult to reach and communicate with.

Ways they can improve: Add bonuses/ commission to sales reps, reduce the workload of some staff. 

This heavy workload means projects are completed last min or post deadlines. This leaves errors in pricing and no time to prepare for the future projects, allowing the competitors to get ahead.


Management is unhelpful, and very much treat regular employees like they are disposable. Family run business, and those that are related or friends of family are clearly treated better than the rest. Work environment is not great, machine placement, product placement, and set up is awkward and counterproductive. Lots of unnecessary twisting in relatively small work space. Bouquet department is regularly cluttered and product is all over the place. Working late or early is an expectation and the vibe isn't at all comfortable. They say the temp in the department is 63°f, but it is steadily between 41°-45°. They are pushing more mass production of bouquets that require assembly line type machine work, standing in one place for extended periods of time and expected to keep a very fast pace. Definitely not a great environment. 

After working in the floral industry for some time, I've never left a workplace with such spite as I did after leaving Northland Floral.
The senior leadership here is not educated and are biased. They hire based on their own beliefs and it makes it a very toxic work environment. 
They put all their money into an up-to-date modern facility and left no money to put towards their employees. 
They made me out to be a bad employee when it was my manager who couldn't do their job. 
There is so much family within this company that thinks they are above all other employees and treat you like they are superior when they may have the same job description as you.
10/10 would not recommend working here.

From my personal experience I learned a lot from Northland Floral. But most of what I learned I had to figure out myself as there is barely any training. Also you are told it’s 8-5 but if you leave at 5 you’re slacking or just not working as hard as everyone else. This company has amazing employees there is just minimal organization and a lack of internal structure that leads to employees doing 10 jobs rather than focusing on just their job. Before applying think about how long you want to work as it will mostly be 45-50 hour weeks, also think about how much stress you can handle it’s a very stressful environment. 

This is a family run business that is so unprofessional it still amazes me.
You're not treated fairly, yelled at and belittled in front of other employees for things out of your control. The family never communicates well with anyone that isn't family. Very unorganized with constant issues.
The hours are long and they don't ask you to stay or work extra, they just expect you to do so. They will try to change your schedule without asking you or give you very little notice, expecting you to work 12-14 hour days sometimes. 
If you do something they deem incorrect or work "too slow" they threaten to fire you.
Not recommended 

I really enjoyed my time at Northland Floral. I was instantly welcomed into the team and everyone was very supportive. Even though I asked a million questions a day I never felt like someone didn't have time for me. The work is fast pace and always keeps you on your toes. There was also lots of support from my supervisor whenever I needed it, but they also let you do your job without feeling micro managed. The team is amazing, there is a good balance of working hard and playing hard if you will. A very fun laid back work environment but still lots of work to be done. If you are willing to work hard you will fit in perfectly here!

Northland is a caring family run business. Management works hard to provide a supportive, encouraging, positive work environment. Questions are always welcome and the people in the bouquet department are very helpful and welcoming to newcomers. You are in your feet all day so have comfortable footwear and dress in layers. The work area is kept cool as you're working with flowers. Some days can be long particularly around Valentines, Christmas, Mother's Day etc. While it's a busy workplace it's also pretty relaxed. Everyone works hard to get the job done.

Trying to make sure to get all deliveries done in a timely matter.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Pleasant and very friendly people.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arriving at work, loading truck with product. Making sure to have proper paperwork for delivery load. Then delivering product to customers.

All reviews talking about family-run business are completely correct. It definitely feels like you are a tier below family members, no matter your job title. They forget that a business' greatest resource is their people. Keep your workers happy, keep your business running. Dumping money into a brand-new building instead of making sure your employees are paid fairly doesn't seem like the greatest move.

- Lots of favouritism, especially towards men. 
- Disorganized, nothing is communicated well between departments/manager+team. 
- Some individuals get loaded with all the work.
- Any problem is just swept under the rug by HR, and managers. People are not disciplined or held accountable leading to dysfunction.
- Toxic energy within the whole office space.

- Benefits is nice, and generally pretty flexible with hours, but lots of promises for future opportunities that don't actually exist
